From what i understand when you're out of vram the game just refuses to crash and instead uses VERY low levels of detail... And is still playable somehow. I don't know if it's genius or horrible
I really don't know, i haven't got that bug happend to me, and i'm using a Rizen 3 with 16gb ram (i'm poor don't ask), i guess is because i don't run on ultra other wise i don't have an explanation
So not quite how Nintendo did with ToTK, though here the game needs some sort of buffer to reset itself, in ToTK in order to avoid the game from crashing the game itself would force a Blood moon to happen just to reset itself.

if ur talking abt the polygons, its not your pc.. just a bug. the game renders far away objects in a very low poly version to same frames, but there is a bug where it doesnt transition back to normal when they get closer
Lol, I had the same thing happen to me. I had to beat polygon chatacabra and doshaguma. It was hilarious. I have a 2060 and was playing on high graphics. The game never crashed on me, which is impressive.
@caliberkat They're a multi-billion dollar company with decades of experience in video games, I think they spare the workers to make new, up-to-date animations.
modern gaming is tottal crap and lazy spaghetti coding. Nintendo 3DS Monster hunter generations ultimate still looks more breathtaking in some places than 2024/25 monster hunters.

Ray Dau's head goes from \_/ to |_|. It's amazing how you can still tell what's going on despite the blockiness.
