Dare I say, the vape smoking, skateboard kick flipping, incel punk hangin around with, clout. Not for the actual beauty of having a subaru. Or the extra knowledge of maintenance required to keep such a nice car alive compared to like an LS powered pickup or something.
I got my subie (05 outback XT limited (auto unfortunately)) from a college kid's parents like this, had it until my first oil change when I realized it burns through almost all 4.5 quarts of oil in 3k miles, not to mention a shitty tint job and some drivetrain replacements that showed up pretty quickly after... Ecotech in St. Louis tried quoting me like $6,500 to rebuild an engine that I could have replaced with an entire drop in crate engine for like half the price. I think I will just drive it until it eventually seizes or blows up, unfortunately. Just too far gone to warrant paying so much. Sucks because its my first car and it drives wonderfully now as long as I always top it up with oil... And get that pesky wheel bearing replaced.

1:06 Omg I LOVE those beautiful XT6's! Such a cool and quirky little car. I love the aircraft inspired touches on the interior. Too bad that one didn't have the amazingly 80's pumpkin orange digital dash.
My other XT has it... it just doesn't have a working engine. The 5s never came with the digidash, but it is swappable :)
I miss my xt. Was my second car and I've never seen anything as weird yet awesome since. No power at all though.
According to Hagerty's video, it seems that their handling at speed is a bit absolutely terrifying. They'll turn, but you get massive suspension and steering judder the entire time.

look for an XT Forester in the PNW! you'll pay awd tax, but non lowered/lifted foresters with a manual are fairly easy to come by
