  • In this video, I Lifted my Explorer Sport with the Traxda 2" all-around kit, and 275/55/20 (the 55 series AT tires gives an additional 1" of lift) tires. I walk you through the kit and installation. I also talk about the pro and cons of this kit. I also mentioned how it handles, and most importantly why I decided to lift Bullet....turns out it looks pretty good as well! I also mention a rule of thumb "if you lift you must widen the tract" to counteract raising the center of gravity. I did that with 1" Hubcentric Spacers and wider tires.

    Sweet vid sir! And "Bullit"....is a bad ride for sure! I am currently on my third Explorer. Had the 15, the 17 and now the 18 Sport. It's a whole different kind of beast! Wow this is a great build, I think I would personally go for the leveling kit so that the front had more ground clearance, but I mostly drive on rock in Colorado so it's kindof non-negotiable lol. Does that front lower fender ever get stuck in sand and mud for you when offroad? No I am not experiencing any vibration due to axles. I suggest you balance your wheels, and see if your tires are in good condition. I don't recommend cutting your lift. Your better off just getting a 2" if you feel like your lift is putting too much angle on your axles.

    I believe that you would be very happy with a running board of your choice on your Explorer to help with your desired optics of being lower and wide.

    May i ask, how are the axles and other Drive train components holding up with this lift?

    • @blacktalonsport1262
      @blacktalonsport1262  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you may, I haven't had any issues with them directly related to the lift. I've replaced my axles due to high mileage/normal wear, and my transmission was replaced (due to Premier Ford blowing it) in an unrelated situation. This 2" kit don't put that much "angle" on the drive train to affect it negatively.
      My two issues have been I keep braking the Sway Bar link bracket, and my front struts keep blowing through the mounts due to NYC's notorious potholes.

    I have the same kit on mine. I noticed your sway bar brackets are on upside down. I put mine on that way when I first installed then immediately found out I had them upside down. I wish you could’ve shown the axle. The reason I ask is because I did install the 3 inch leveling kit in front on mine with a 275/65 I pushed it a lot with the tire but most definitely doing the cuts you did for your 275 tire. Really helpful you pointing that out. But the reason I ask about the axle is because my shop is saying that it’s stretched out on mine a little to much don’t know if that happened on yours where the axle is slightly downward. Hope I made sense and hoping for reply please.

      I haven't had any issues with my axles at all. With the 2" kit (I gained an inch from my tire size 275/55/20)it doesn't put much angle on anything because it's minor. 3" kits I would imagine that would happen. You must have 18's with that tire right?

    Your video says 2 in all the way around but the traxda website says 1.25 in rear and 2 in front for the 102040 kit. Is it 2 inches due to the bigger tires? • @blacktalonsport1262

      Good question! When I got the kit it was 2" all around, and the size (275/55/20) tires I first had gave me an extra inch to make a total of 3" (as seen in the thumbnail photo) lift. When I change the tires to 265/50/20 that put me back to a 2" lift. I believe Traxda has done an update (they even contacted me about my specs exactly) to their Explorer kit. I'm not sure what the "update" was but I can't find my exact kit anymore. I suggest you get the closest to 2" all around with tires no taller than 50 series. I also have 1" Hubcentric Spacers because I needed clearance back when I had the 55 series tires....yes they rubbed when turning all the way left.

      @blacktalonsport1262  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have front, and rear camber bolts (never installed) and will get the Steeda rear toe arms once I lower Bullet. @@blacktalonsport1262 I might just have to order the 2 inch but from my understanding the 275 tire still fit right I just might have to do those mods you did. The weird thing that my leveling kit description said 3 but it’s actually measured as a 2.5 after measuring it.

      @@Ceez_therepperbarber777 That's what the measurements are after you put them on. Any 2" lift will measure 1.5" afterwards and a 3" will be 2.5" afterwards.

      Nope! I was expecting it to change however, it didn't. I also believe that's because of the rule of thumb...if you lift you must widen the stance a bit. Wider tires, and spacers counteract a higher center of gravity.

      @@blacktalonsport1262 The ride didn’t change because you are still using stock suspension components. Just turning at high rate of speeds the center of gravity is now higher. I will be lifting my Explorer this spring.

      It was in the $400 range. Hopefully you don't have NYC potholes in your city. I brake Sway Bar link, and struts blow through the mounts every 30-40k miles. So if you don't have potholes and you don't drive that amount of miles then lift it.

      You don't have to like it. I love how it looks. Its also very functional. I drive on the beach. This lift allows me to not drag anything on the beach.
