Hiring him wasn't the worst thing, but the extension certainly was. There was no reason to give him that extension. He hadn't earned it and he still had seven more years on his current contract. Had they not given him an extension, he would have 5 years/7 mil left. It would still be expensive, but next year would be his hot seat must win now year. Instead if they fire him after next year they owe him 80 million. The extension was the dumbest thing ever in sports.

As a FSU alum, I dealt with Bimbo bailing on the team when he was at the school. He knew he was leaving early and literally stopped recruiting leaving the Noles in desperate times for the following year. A lot of the mess the team is incurring now is a result of him not caring about the team with his eyes on the money he would be getting in College Station. Willie Taggert didn’t help. A&M made a poor decision in giving him an extension based on what? Be careful what you wish for.

Jimbo holding FSU hostage every year for more money should have been a tell for A&M. Remember he said FSU didn't have the right facilities and due to his lack of disciplining players they all had to sign a pledge? 🤣If not for his luck in Jameis committing to FSU AND Jameis having the ability to immediately understand Jimbo's "system" leading to the Natty, it very well could be FSU dealing with this nonsense. Well Paul, I was at Texas A&M working when Jimbo arrived in College Station. I admin as a new hire in College Station I was in awe of the large school and my office window was across from Kyle Field. I rode my motorcycle over to campus and also did tailgating. Five years later, I am disappointed. I am happy with some of the players. One thing I don't like about Jimbo is that if the Aggies have the ball less than a minute before the half they kneel and not try to score before the half. This has cost them games which many have been by just ONE score. If they had played and happen to score then they probably could have won the game. Contrast this to Saban who can be up 40 points and still try to score in the minute before halftime. I don't hear a lot about this but it's just my thoughts.
