Not only this, but I also think of how the history of American sports would have been changed if the Dolphins Dr had cleared the signing of Drew Brees to Miami instead of going to NOLA. Saban may not have left Miami so soon, the Saints most definitely wouldn't have won their Super Bowl & who knows what Alabama would have been.

It's always been interesting speculation what Texas A&M would have been if Paul "Bear" Bryant had stayed there. But he didn't and he won 6 National Championships (by NCAA numbers) at Alabama.
Certainly, I'm sure Alabama culture plays a part, but you can't argue that LSU and A&M don't have a great culture also.
In the end it's what might of been, not what would of been.

It’s very debatable given the difficulty of the BCS.
2003 - LSU shouldn’t have even been in the championship.
2004 - 5 Undefeated teams (USC, Oklahoma, Utah, Auburn, Boise State). Good luck even getting past that Auburn team. You’d likely jump Utah and BSU, even tho Utah annihilated their schedule, then you gotta play one of the best teams of the 21st century in USC, which you’re getting slaughtered in….
2005 - you’re really gonna make a case over Vince Young Texas or Leinart USC?
2006 - Florida arguably didn’t even deserve to be in this game. Maybe you beat Ohio State….. Boise State also went undefeated but got snubbed for the 3rd time.
2007 - Good luck with this season….. If you think you can assume anything this season you’re probably going 0-12…. Kansas finished with best record and 7 of the Top 8 finished with the same record at two losses.
2008 - The two teams that went h defeated didn’t make the championship (Utah breaks the SOS argument, BSU gets snubbed for the 4th time). The B12 was by far the most competitive this season. Oklahoma arguably didn’t even really deserve the game, Texas destroyed them but didn’t make their conferences championship game. USC ran into the same problem despite being the obvious pick for the PAC. You change one thing in the season and you can have completely different teams making a title push.
2009 - 5 teams went undefeated. Is LSU replacing Bama? Ok tbh Texas had no business being in the championship game over TCU, which now instead of playing injured Colt MCCoy you’re going against the #1 defense in the country. (oh BSU got snubbed for the 5th time).
Would also be a little problematic that you barely beat the 3rd worst PAC team and BSU slaughtered PAC Champ that season.
2010 - Doesn’t really matter cuz the teams in the championship game were not the best teams…..
The fact that Oregon jumped Boise State this season despite Boise State being on a 32 game win streak (which literally included wins over Oregon) should tell you this season was a f@cking joke.
So you win the SEC, fine but you put anyone you want against 2010 TCU or Boise State and you’re losing…… No doubt….
It was criminal how bad those teams were snubbed…..
#1 total defense, #4 total offense, #2 margin of victory (31.4ppg); wins over #8, #14, #21, #24; Back to Back Undefeated
#2 total offense, #2 total defense, #1 margin of victory (36.7ppg); wins over #8, #13, #18, #24; 35-1 in 3 years; 5 consecutive years undefeated against the P5; back to back to back OOC wins Over P5 conference champs
      You’re just not living that…..

@@brian2440 it has been proven with how long it took Utah to be competitive in the Pac 12 and TCU has had two good years in the big 12. That those teams didn’t deserve anything and a by product of a weak schedule. Look at cincy last year. The playoffs are for the Big 2 (SEC and Big Ten) only.

    • @brian2440
      @brian2440 ปีที่แล้ว

@@jdscrubs3 Yet those teams played a harder schedule than 90% of the teams that make the playoffs today…..
      You’re really comparing 21 Cincinnati to 2010 TCU? That’s hilarious……
2010 TCU scored on average 12.1 more ppg and allowed 7.6 less ppg than 2021 Cincinnati despite playing 3 more top 25 teams as Cincinnati. 2010 TCU literally shutout 4 teams. You know how many Cinci shutout? Zero….
They also beat 2 Top 15 teams by 35+ (something Cinci never came even close to doing). 21 Cinci best claim was an 11 point road win against #6 Notre Dame. By comparison TCU beat #6 Utah in 2010 47-7…..
Furthermore, your argument really doesn’t make any sense, when TCU literally beat #4 Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl……
You also failed to recognize the fact that TCU has never had any defense even remotely comparable to their 2009 and 2010 squads, which featured 8 NFL defensive players. Plus last time I checked TCU has never had a QB make it to the NFL since 2010, and that QB literally still plays in the NFL. Plus they had 5 more offensive players go to the NFL.

Possibly. However Bama fans tend to cling on to titles won decades in the past. Not to say the current generation is without merit however without Saban it's non-existant. They also have an enormous sense of entitlement because of that. Like Notre Dame and Michigan fans talking about titles decades ago. Meanwhile 3 of 4 of LSU's titles have come within the last 20 years and losing a 4th in the same period. All with different coaching staffs. Imagine what Saban would have done with the available talent and consistency had he stayed. LSU might have surpassed the UCLA basketball team sd the best dynasty ever in any sport.

@@jdscrubs3 2005 you really think your beating UT or USC?
Kinda bold to claim you’re gonna makeup a 20 point deficit over Georgia. But even if you went undefeated you’d have to look more convincing than USC and Texas. And realistically with USC being champions in 2004 you’d have to look more convincing than Texas, because they’re not taking out an undefeated reining champion.
And the SEC had a lot ranked teams in 05 but so did the B12, and Texas beat #4 Ohio State in OOC. Nobody on LSUs schedule comes even close to that in terms of OOC significance.
2006 - This season was controversial with even selecting Florida to the championship. If this season existed with 2011 rules the SEC doesn’t even make the title game and it’s a rehash of #1 Ohio State vs #2 Michigan.
Maybe you get this game. This is likely the most probable championship if you had to pick one.
2007 - you’re a fool if you think anything about this season could be assumed for a title. Honestly LSU shouldn’t have even been in the game. Georgia was literally the highest ranked SEC team and you didn’t even play them.
And honestly if you’re gonna claim 07 then you basically need to be able to claim that you will undeniably and convincingly beat the entire Top 10 of this season, cuz the rankings were a clusterf@ck…..
      1. Ohio State actually had the same conference record as Illinois, and Illinois beat Ohio State, but due to a round robin with Michigan and that Illinois lost to Mizzou at the start of the season OSU won the B10. This is one of 4 conference round robins this season.
      2. #1 USC lost in a game they were favored by 45 points to win at home…. You think that’s happening again?
      3. Kansas and Mizzou were the highest ranked b12 teams, but due to divisions the winner had to play Oklahoma for conference. Kansas had the best record of the season, but didn’t even get to play for their conference title.
Mizzou had arguably the best claim with the most Top 10 wins including some OOC, but because they lost the conference they couldn’t make it despite still outranking Oklahoma.
      4. #2 West Virginia, Pat Macafee misses a FG in the last game of the season and they miss the championship. Also they lost 6 weeks prior when they were previously ranked #2 in the country.

If you look at his record he was there 5 years and only had one 1 loss season which was the only Natty he had there as well. At Alabama in his first 5 years he won 2 Nattys, had 2 1 loss season and an undefeated season. I don't think it's a coincidence that the 2 greatest college football coaches of all time both happened to play at Bama.
