In 20 real, unpaused, continuous seconds, TCU ran the ball for a gain, swapped out an entire unit, and drilled a FG FOR THE WIN..... that was insane
That was a nascar pit crew level smooth transition 😅
The team practices this situation at practice every week. Love that it paid off
Apparently that’s Thursday practice drill according to player interviews. Tells you this coach staff is serious as well.

@@salixnigra6389 No it wasn't. I guarantee you they ran that play in practice multiple times. It was an excellent use of time.
The run is actually pretty smart. The offense can control how long the play takes, unlike a scramble; avoids an interception or a sack; and it gets the ball in the position the kicker prefers.
@@packergeek10 yup. Kell (TCU kicker) said in a post-game interview they practice the rushed field goal offense every Thursday. It looked like poor time-management from the outside, but TCU was fully in control the whole time. That's just good preparation and good coaching. Gotta love it

That was an incredible game. My expectations were precisely met. TCU winning a very close one. Baylor came to play and take them down though. They came awful close.
Some people might call it luck but this is why they are 11-0. They are coached very well and the last play is something they practice all the time.

The way it played out at the end worked out perfectly for the TCU kicker. Baylor had 2 timeouts remaining but wasn't about to call one in that situation with the clock running out. That way, the kicker had no time to think about it, just had to run out on the field and kick the thing.

What Duggan was impressive! He took the team on his back and it was a Heisman Statement drive for the win 🙏🏽🐸💜🏈 he deserves to be in New York.
Even if he does not win he will be awesome in the NFL he has an elite arm and good speed and has great IQ in the pocket reading the defense.
Imagine someone saying Duggan could get the Heisman at the start of the year 😂

Don’t get me wrong as a neutral observer if TCU gets into the playoff I’ll be rooting for them. But they won’t need a little luck they’ll need a LOT.

Wow! You can't make it any closer than that! Baylor has been the spoiler for TCU on so many occasions. Glad to see the Frogs put it away.
Both Baylor and Illinois did the exact same thing at the end. Rather than trying to end the game by going for a first down they focused on running the ball to keep the clock going. A minute and thirty seconds is an eternity for a top 5 team in the country to just get a field goal. They both should’ve ran it on first down and then threw it twice to try and get a first down. The Baylor QB had a man completely wide open and perfectly in his line of site for a very easy first down. But the coach didn’t want him throwing to risk stopping the clock. Play scared lose scared
Why did they lose?
1) "Rather than trying to end the game by going for a first down they focused on running the ball..."
2) "They both should’ve ran it...."
Baylor had been running it quite successfully that game. TCU's defense finally made some good stops. When you're winning by 1 possession as end time nears, you also don't want to throw the ball for pick. They were going for a first down; they just didn't make it.
They made good stops because they knew Baylor was focused on the clock rather than the win. They put everyone in the box the first two plays and they got very lucky that the Baylor QB didn’t throw it to the wide open man directly in front of him on third down. If TCU makes the playoffs they are gonna lose by 50 to UGA. They struggle against nobody

Shapen is the only guy anyone should be blaming for this loss. Throws a pick at the half, losing them 3 points…and then opts to run instead of throwing to an open guy (right in front of him, the best target on the team) when a first down wins the game.
BU’s losses against WVU and BYU were just as bad - they were in control at the end, but couldn’t finish due to Shapen cracking under pressure. We need Drones at QB. He couldn’t possibly be as bad in pivotal moments.

Also, TCU 2nd & 5, running with control down the field, chipping the time off the clock, putting Baylor on their heels, then Duggan throws a deep pass, intercepted. Stupid play call.
Both teams made bad decisions. But do you have a better QB than Shapen?

Bad coaching on Baylor at the end. When tcu subbed out Baylor should of did the same and the refs would have Given them time to sub out since the offense did.. Boom time runs out Baylor wins
They don’t know TCU is running that play, that rule doesn’t apply under 2 minutes at the end of the half and the 4th quarter
End of a half ruling is different. No free subbing for the defense, as they're _expected_ to know that TCU is going for a FG and should prepare for it. Baylor *should* have called a time out, saving ~ 13+ seconds on the clock for a comeback chance.
No idea why they would call a run play at the end like that, but wow was that entertaining!!

Honestly that touchdown was dropped, which led to a missed field goal. Then the interception before the half. Baylor should have got the dub. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.

There's always a 'wide open' player somewhere. We mainly notice it on bad plays or when our team loses. Having someone coming to tackle you can give you tunnel vision. Rivalry games are a b!tch.

Coach made the decision for him to run no matter what. #8 was too wide open and directly in his line of site. If he was allowed to throw he would’ve . Too many coaches get scared and focus on burning clock rather than winning the game

I blame the Baylor coaches. 2:07 Left to play and you play keep away. Should have went aggressive and tried to get a first down with your passing play.
You don't pass the ball when you're in a tight game near the end, because a pick could ruin your day.
You have to judge which of the "don't do this" things you're going to follow.

It's always easy to do hindsight. Passing runs a greater risk of turnover/failure and clock stoppage. They ran for 232 yards, averaging 5 yards per play. 100% of running plays can be designed to keep the clock running, successful or not.
Their only turnover was on a pass.
Both teams should have done a lot of things differently to those of us watching from the cheap seats.

Baylor was not trying to win that game officially you have not been winning on defense all game you knew giving them the ball back gave them a chance to kick a damn field goal to win you go for it on 4th down and you live with that and hope your defense holds it down from there

Your UGA GED isn't up to date. TCU has beaten _FIVE_ ranked teams, FOUR of them in a row. Georgia has beaten two ranked teams, Oregon, who was essentially a brand new team playing in Georgia, and TN, by two possessions. TCU has won by 2 possessions to ranked teams also.
Unlike the SEC who only plays 8 conference games and takes over a decade to play their entire conference, the Big12 plays every team in 9 conference games. Georgia nearly lost to Mizzou, and only scored 16 points on an unranked UK.
It's like you don't understand college football.

Baylor lacked the discipline to put away this game. They lost it more than TCU won it. Don't think for a second that the committee will see it any differently. This doesn't even qualify as a struggle win. This was a lucky win. Give the committee any reason to drop you in the polls and they will.
Let's be honest if tcu makes the cfp they are going to get destroyed, it was probably best they lost this game💀
