I'd move them a bit more far away from the house. There they're too claustrophobic. Also, I'd plant waaaay more of them in two rows to create a nice pathway to the house.
I've been a builder for many years and have seen quite a fair bit of sheds. The plans in ryan's package th-cam.com/users/postUgkxB7IXYxLzb_Ichhe45zM3Im5xfEiSp9vB have some of the nicest looking sheds i've seen in a while.
My father was a painter. The best and longest lasting paint job is either with a brush or roller. The condo I live in hires a painting contractor and they do the same steps you did. They have to redo the job every so many years, like about 5 years. My son's neighbor hired a painting contractor who did the same thing like you did. His paint job lasted about two years. My son followed my advice and rolled his house. It's been 12 years now. My previous two houses that I bought, I rolled/brushed the exteriors and the paint lasted well into the new homeowner's time.
Great idea to paint everything white. White is clean and timeless. The cypress make the place look like southern Calif. Why not finish the outside the way you want and then make a final decision. I think the pop of green they provide is also timeless...and how many homes out there have them? You could always paint your window frames black enamel and go for a clean modern farmhouse black/white theme. You're amazing!
Love monochromatic houses, always my go to. Especially in small spaces, less visual clutter/eye friction. Mono interior walls, and ceilings in flat and an eggshells on the trim for durability. Farrow & Ball *skylight* is a dreamy multidimensional color wonder that Benjamin Moore will match and mix perfectly.
Mike the monochromatic is AMAZING. You are right the white will reflect the sun incredibly well. It's going to be incredible in the winter after the first snowfall! Look forward to seeing that.
You are right, the transformation is stunning. I myself have a complete white house. The only thing is, when it´s raining, the walls get sprinkels of dir, but you can brush them away.
The new white color is certainly an improvement over the old color. You are doing an excellent job on the restoration of your new house. Thanks for the video.
I'm pretty sure the nails coming through for the roofing is intended. Here in FL if your sheeting is less than 3/4", then the nails are required to penetrate all the way through. In some places if the sheeting is < 3/4" thick the nail must penetrate at least 1/8" past the sheeting. Chances are the roofers just choose nails long enough to always penetrate. My attic (prior to spray foam insulation) was just covered in exposed nails. I've hit my head and back on them more times than I can count. What I would do in your case is cover the joists with something like bead board (you can even get the plywood stuff). It will give it a nice finished look. Just make sure to account for any attic eave venting you might cover up.
I think you will have to put a border around the house because when it rains all the mud dirty the walls. And as a woman, I would like you to put more plants around your house, which is now beautiful. 🥳
Yeah I thought the paint job was a little lazy tbh. There’s overspray on the shingles too. Even when he painted his AC unit, he should’ve taken it apart and painted the pieces.
I think that the idea behind the earth tones in the 50s, 60s and 70s was to blend into the natural setting (as you pointed out). but times change and tastes change. also, it's only getting hotter now so your white exterior is eminently practical. your roof looks to be in good condition, but if you ever change it, you should consider something in a lighter color...but I'm guessing that you will be putting solar up there well before that
The white looks good.. I can see ur vision.. as far as the he trees… I like the idea of them… but I wld either cut them down by about half in height or completely replace them with smaller ones I think they add a soft touch and a nice natural tone.
Nice. I rolled my whole place and used a chip brush for trim. My property already had a pretty rustic feel and I'm cheap. I wish I could'a scored those shutters from you. They would have been perfect. My place is west of Rachel's by the mountain. Hope to run into you in the sand and rocks one day.
I love the white! I did the same thing..I have an old mobile home with an addition. 2 different sidings, but the white pulls it together. I will add a new wood railing to match my cedar door. And maybe my new roof will be charcoal for some contrast. Overall though, the white just pulls things together!
I absolutely lost it when you just opened the door and got blasting. This is definitely a unique aesthetic and must have saved days on masking and cleanup
Those trees are legit beautiful dude. Don’t remove them. They look even better with the house white. The green and white compliment each other very well.
@@saulgoodman2018 did you watch the video? His foundation is already cracked. I'm pretty sure leaving those trees there isn't going to do any more damage.
White is my favorite color, it make everything bright as the light bounces around :) (altough I think I would paint the floor black or use black stones to increase the contrast)
I wonder how long those Italian Cypress have been there? If they were planted in the late '60s, they might have been bought from my mom. Although, hers was not the only nursery in the Morongo Basin at the time.
You should paint the roof white too! There’s a special roof paint you can get that will really increase the life of your roof out here. If you’re driving around Joshua tree, you can see some people have white roofs
Terrific job Mike! I like white but would have chosen to go with an off white like Eggshell. However, I can understand why you did what you did! Keep up the great work. 👍👍😉😉
Looks great, though I love the trees and would keep them. Many years ago I had a room to repaint and one of those cheap electric sprayers. I grew impatient with the straining the paint through filters and a friend of mine said he would finish for me in exchange for pizza. I took him up on it and headed out for pizza. When I got back he had finished, and had painted my refrigerator blue to match the wall color.
To go monochromatic on the house is such a clever move. I LOVE it. Can't wait to see how the exterior changes once all the wooden fixtures go up. Great design. Fun to watch as always. Thank you ever so much.
Hey Mike! Do not remove the trees, they look just fine! Besides, you should be adding more of them and make the whole place a little more cooler
I'd move them a bit more far away from the house. There they're too claustrophobic. Also, I'd plant waaaay more of them in two rows to create a nice pathway to the house.
@@nicetryfbi357 you cant just move a tree that size.
@@niek7808 You can, but its a huge job
Dude, 100%, keep the trees. They look fresh right next to the house too especially since there’s no color contrast on the house
I'd look into food forests, you could make a really great garden there 😀

Keep the trees 🌲 they look great!
Didn't expect to like the monochromatic white as much as I do. Makes a ton of sense for the climate like you said too
Love the all white for a desert house. Please keep the trees and add more!
the white works well in the desert. looks fab. PS Racheal is great!
Bro the white white is great. Honestly makes the entire building look super updated. Love this

The white house with the baby blue school bus project looks very nice. Well done. Level pro 1000
The monochrome look is fantastic. White looks great in the desert.
The whole job looks 1-800-SuperPro!!!
Should’ve Sparta’d that post beforehand.
The two tall trees look so different against a white house. They POP!

Super clean, the trees stand out more now.

Thanks Jason, It'll get better with a few pops of color/wood tone too!!
Does Joshua Tree get snow?
@@lestranged For sure in the winter. Not always and not a lot, but enough to make it real for a day or so!
The white makes it look like the start of a holiday oasis. Thanks for sharing your tips Mike
The trees are the best items of this house 🏡
Trees look great !!! Keep them !!! 🌲 🏠 🌲
I might... we'll see :)

Hey neighbor, I just bought a house in Desert Hot Springs, as soon as I can it's getting painted. Thank you for the tips.
A plain Jane turned into a real looker. Good instincts!
I like all white! I live in Spain and white is good to keep the house cooler!
I was waiting the whole video for you to get rid of that ridiculous light over the porch. Glad you didn't disappoint!
Surprising how nice the monochromatic looks! I never would have thought to go that route.

All white is so awesome!!! Well done!
I LOVE the before colour. Terra cotta blends in beautifully to the surroundings and hides dirt and dust that will show up on white, imho
5:58 right over the light fixtures and door hardware, Super Pro! At least the windows were masked.
I was assuming that light fixture would get replaced somewhere down the line. I can't imagine he'd keep it with the glass painted white.
Yeah I thought the paint job was a little lazy tbh. There’s overspray on the shingles too. Even when he painted his AC unit, he should’ve taken it apart and painted the pieces.
ABSOLUTELY perfect! White was such a great choice! BRAVO, Mike! 👍😎💕
You can also paint the roof white for energy efficiency. There are special roof paints. Then the house would be super monochromatic.
That window covering is genius!!
saves SO much time!
Great work! I guess you figured out by now you have to keep those trees!!
love to see turf in the front...looks amazing
Nice Video Mike!
I too follow Kirk and Paint Life TV.

Can't wait to see the next project on this house. Keep going Mike!
Those italian cypress would make amazing bonsai!
The white color seems give it a clean look
That clean all white is a MoBuilds staple🔥🔥
Mid century modern v patio or carport pillars would look pretty cool in the front !
The house looks great…but that AMC Spirit in the background is amazing!
"why hello mr. or mrs. fly" lol
Keep the trees, stayed in Joshua for a few months and those trees were one of my favorite characteristics about the area
Please keep the trees! They look awesome with the white house.
Super awesome seeing all of your projects. Been following you for a few years now. Can’t wait to see how your house turns out
Looks freaking sick. 1-800-super-pro! BUT i can't stop imagine what it would look like if you did the house the same color as the buss :D
Definitely going to need a blue metal roof, to match the bus, when it comes time to replace the shingles haha! Talk about a pop of color!
It can certainly stand out th-cam.com/video/loIwvNJxSFw/w-d-xo.html .

I love this! It’s so soothing to watch. Are you replacing light fixtures? I noticed you painted over them.
Great job. Can't wait to see what's next. Any solar or wind projects planned?
I hope you paint the round chimney with a fun color, like orange or yellow! Love this project!
oooh that's a fun idea!

White and black are no colors ;-) They are the absence of color.

Dude I need a power washer! They look fun and have many uses🤷♂️
A lot of uses. I have one. Great to have. No need to rent. What a relief.
Seriously its a “blast” lol and also oddly stress relieving
Super convenient, I bought one immediately after borrowing ben's!
Make sure when purchasing a power washer to get one that has metal parts. Plastic guarentee will crack after multiple use.

Really big improvement, looks awesome 👌
Wonderful transformation!!!!!
This is looking good! This motivates me to start apart painting the interior of my garage.
That's awesome!! Go for it
Well done. Thanks for sharing.
I like it! Looking forward to seeing it’s development
@Modern Builds, you could block the underside of your patio and in case it. This would allow you to add additional lights like flat LEDS.
very cool idea!!

It'll be interesting to see what that nice white looks like after a few months in the dessert lol
Thank you Rachel for letting me borrow it while you’re borrowing it from Ben Uyeda 😂
You should paint the roof too. I’ve heard that it is possible to paint asphalt shingles.
That fly made a good appearance
Behr roof paint - black it out. Looks amazing on a White House
Looks great, Mike!
