She absorbs ultraviolet radiation from the sun, and also light. Kryptoanians absorb every type of radiation from the sun, more specifically just its energy actually. So Kory wouldn’t actually be able to do really anything to Superman with her ability to absorb ultraviolet radiation and light. kryptonians absorb the energy of the sun that contains all those types of radiation. So the energy, much so than all the radiation from the sun, is actually what powers kryptonians. So Kory can’t actually absorb their type of power.
I feel like these days they *want* to use her more but ultimately don't know how, which leads to a feeling almost worse than not seeing her used at alll
My entire life people have always acted as if Cyborg is physically stronger than Starfire and I don't understand why because all of the data says otherwise
You should hear what they say about her in contrast to Nightwing. (Specifically The Judas Contract) people in the comments were going crazy saying how they nerfed Nightwing in order to make Starfire look better as if she isn’t an alien that can kick a nuke or lift crumbling debris. Yes, Nightwing was trained by Batman but she was trained by the warlords who freed themselves from slavery. That’s like being able to train under all of the greatest warlords in Earth/Terran history.
Rant here: Another thing that people tend to forget about Starfire is her hand-to-hand combat capabilities. It's canon, at least during Pre-Crisis from my recollection, that she was trained in virtually every form of martial arts in the Vega System during her childhood. On top of that, Starfire also participated in a Amazonian tournament on Themyscira and came out victorious, to which Hippolyta herself said she'd rival her daughter (Diana) herself. I know statements hold little value sometimes but in my opinion, Hippolyta would know what Diana's capable of better than anyone, so there's that. It's sad to see that in recent media and comics she's reduced to being trigger happy with her starbolts.
But she is litterally nowhere near WW , WW has gotten much stronger since then so she litterally doesn't come close . Batman has actually fought WW in serious battles and managed to land hits , so have other heroes so that statement made decades ago doesn't hold much power now.
@@user-lp8im7ow8ssay you haven’t read starfires comic’s without saying it bro. Starfire has fought WW MULTIPLE TIMES in the comics evenly and it’s almost ALWAYS been a tie. One time including one of Ravens brothers who had the magical ability to turn into somebody and gain ALL of their powers and knowledge and starfire won the fight. Starfire also recently beat the breaks off of Black Adam in the comics. Kory is a DC powerhouse who is easily on the same tier as people like Wonder Woman, Shazam and Superman put some respect on her name 🤷🏻♂️😤👏
While I do think the "need to show skin to draw power" thing was definitely an excuse for objectification (especially since Ryand'r dresses conservatively in "Supergirl"), I am a fan of her starbolts--but not when they're drawn like fire like in "Beast World."
Really great video! I was enlightened by the feats and capabilities that Starfire has throughout the years and I agree that she should be mentioned more! I’m not sure if you considered this, but I would like for you do these types of videos or other comic heroes as well!
I'm really glad you enjoyed the video! Always happy to enlighten people regarding the greatness that is Starfire. For now, this channel is gonna be focused on Storm and Starfire. But expanding to other characters could happen in the future ;)
The only version of Starfire I really care about is the New Teen Titans, Wolfman and Perez, version. In that she was stronger than a human but probably only strong enough to flip a car, not lift one. She was physically tougher, but nowhere near bulletproof. The physical touch thing is "knowledge" not just languages, she used it to learn English because that's what Robin wanted to share. She can fly because of her ability to absorb solar energy. All these abilities are just typical Tamaranean abilities, she's a bit better due to having been trained heavily. Her ability to absorb energy is far greater than an average Tameranean because of the experiment that the Psions did on her. She can fire "starbolts" that are her most powerful abilty and unique to her and her sister among Tameraneans. Her fighting abilities are a bit below Batman, and probably equal to Nightwing, but more skilled opponents (Bats) probably wouldn't stand a chance against her in a straight fight unless they were superhuman. It's sad that they've made her such a juggernaut in the modern comics. That diminishes her. In a fight without her flying or starbolts, Deathstroke would wipe the floor with her, being more skilled than her and having an equivalent strength level. Undefeatable characters don't struggle. That makes them boring. She was better when she had limits. (Wonder Woman and Superman didn't hit her with full strength. They far exceed her strength level.)
I mean she was fighting the Mythical Titans and slaying giants with giant spears in the Wolfman/Perez era lol. But I see your point. Pre-crisis Kori would definitely get washed by pretty much every version we've had since. I don't think that necessarily makes her boring though. I do have issues with how her plotlines tend to go these days but it's not her level of strength that's the issue. It's more of an issue with writers not wanting to progress her as a character beyond what happened to Tamaran that's the main culprit these days imo.
@@StormKoriHQ The character development Storm's getting now is what Kori deserves (and I hope Marvel in general picks up what Al Ewing is throwing down, but that's a different topic...). I haven't read close to all the works Kori is in, but for my money her development in Justice League Odyssey is close to the kind of story I think she shines in -- she's Earth-bound by choice and by loves, but (literally!) shines amongst the stars. There are so many intriguing corners of the DC Universe that I think a series with Kori would work well in...
@@StormKoriHQ Yeah, the cartoon had a bit of a negative affect on public perception of her too, skewing her as "innocent" and not that bright. I remember her detailed origin in the "Tales of the Teen Titans" limited series..."innocent" isn't one of her character traits. Of all the New Teen Titans Starfire had the cruelest backstory, and with Raven in the mix that's saying a lot.
I kinda pefer the green bolts but maybe make it more “fire like”, it just pops more with her appearance Can anyone recommend the best starfire comics, is one of her solo stuff any good?
Thank you so much for this awesome video. I am a huge Starfire fan and always felt like she was being downplayed especially in the later seasons of Teen Titans which is my favorite show though but it's because of her. Stop playing with her!
The scene with Swamp Thing, Beast boy and Starfire regrowing a landscape a power I didn't know Beast Boy had with multiple little critters reminds me of Something from Fantasia 2000.

More or less since with the of I think only the Starbolts and anything that came from getting them are natural abilities or from training they all get. Their race is naturally super-powered.
@BranMan866 True, which is because a group of White Martians known as the Hyperclan messed with pre-human ancestors DNA and later ancient human metagene, resulting in only a few getting superpowers.
Good question! I'd say the other Tamaraneans are comparable in strength inherently but the sisters have an edge, either due to the Psion experimentation or their harder training & conditioning from hard lives. Or both lol. Even without the starbolts, Kori and Komand'r outclass virtually every other Tamaranean we've seen in combat. In the super speed chapter (3:51), Starfire is flying circles around her own people who are shooting at her. In the same issue, she fights off dozens of Tamaranean troops at a time. Just rag-dolling them. In short, all Tamaraneans have super strength but Kori and Komand'r (seem to) be several times stronger than the average Tamaranean.
It's crazy because starfire theoretically could put down superman. They won't do it, but her power is a cheat code for kryptonians
Like captain atom or filer storm, also maybe all the magical themed heros
Speaking of, I really wish they had a close friendship. Her going to him about finding out who she is in her solo comic was really sweet.
Green Kryptonite doesn't affect kryptonians that much , Superman's litterally fought Doomsday INFUSED with Kryptonite.

Starfire seems like a star to galaxy level buster in her standard form and Mftl being able to fly through solar systems.
