An infantile spasm is a seizure with sudden stiffening of the body and brief bending forward or backward of the arms, legs and head. Each seizure lasts only a second or two and usually in a series. Seizures are most common just after waking up and rarely occur during sleep.

It's hard to say since they can't give a personal account. However, most clinical symptoms aren't associated with crying so it's assumed that they are not painful

For anyone watching this video - if you suspect your baby is having Infantile Spasms it is an EMERGENCY.
Try to get it on video, but you should get to the ER and engage with the neurology department.
You may need to advocate for your child and push for an EEG, as less experienced doctors and nurses may think it's moro reflex (look up the differences).
