I was thinking of giving it another try for not that well controlled migraines on botox, as I can't remember why I stopped it quite a while ago. It's going to be either that or give Nortryptaline (a tricyclic antidepressant) another try. My problem with both of these meds was not feeling like myself and not being able to tolerate it anymore.

I didn't see anything about a side effect mentioning it's fantastic ability to mess up your ability to speak. I had no issues talking until I took it and wound up having to walk around with post it notes to convey messages every day. I couldn't string together a 3 word sentence, ended up repeating the words four or five times before being able to get to the next and needed to think of synonyms for words because I didn't have the ability to say others out loud. Some drugs may not be for everybody but this one has some jacked up side effects and not even half of them are included in that "long list". Not trying to be a jerk, but a second slide mentioning the other effects would seem appropriate. If people plan on taking meds they should be alerted to all the issues not just a brief overview of what someone deems the worst in their opinion. And yes, I know people can do their own research to find out the possible issues before taking it.

Wow, thank you for sharing that @BFrancis03. I'm sorry to hear about all of those side-effects. I took the side-effects listed from research I did from resources such as peer reviewed articles from NCBI, ScienceDirect, CDC and more. I gathered all side effects and choose the most common according to those sources. It's comments like yours that help spread the word about other side effects. However, I'll take into consideration of being more thorough. Thanks again and I do hope you are managing your seizures!

@@beckymc5235 After stopping the meds, my speech got better than it was while on it and I don't look like a sickly person on the verge of death. My speech and ability to convey words are now just a problem I have to continue to deal with. I carry a dry erase board around at all times, but I definitely don't use it as much and people around me can help make leaps to what I am trying to say to make it less aggravating when communicating.

The potential side effects are scary...permanent blindness! My 9 year old has been struggling with severe depression and anxiety for years. Level 5 if that means anything to you. Psychiatrist tried many things when it was decided that therapy alone was not enough and tried many different things. The magic combination is 7.5mg a day of Abilify and 50mg a day of Topamax. It doesn't solve all his problems...but it is a life saver. Literally. Few things are more horrifying than your 8 year old son cutting himself, wanting to commit suicide, and freaking out in any kind of social situation. I was his only friend for a long time. Now he has a best friend and a girlfriend! He is still uncomfortable when there is more than 5 or 6 people but he can manage it. It just sucks it took 6 months to get him help in the first place without committing him...which we almost did. I had to quit my job to be his full time care taker. Well...and take care of my father who was dying from dementia. I should probably start focusing on my own mental health now.

I was prescribed this today because I keep having eye/muscle tremors and a rapid heartbeat when I sleep sometimes even though I'm calm- there are no reasons why my doc and I can conclude how I'm having this except that I have bipolar disorder. So anyway, I jsut took my first dose right now. I'm a little worried about the weight loss thing with this medicine as I'm only 93lbs and I can't afford to lose any more weight, but we'll see. I also read that it causes acute myopia. I already am myopic. Does this medicine resume normal eye vision again if you stop taking it, or is it permanent damage?

I'm taking 200mg twice daily 400mg I've been taking this for a while at first the side effects is horrendous but it goes away once you get use
to it. The only thing I have now with the high dose is tremors. I'm sure it will pass also like all the others did if you can get past all the crappy side effects it's good

@@GilSolanoREEGT I am using this drug at 25 mg then bumped up to 50mg. My ENT want me to use 75 mg which I divided over breakfast lunch and dinner. No serious side effects. Then came the trouble when I took everything all at once! I've experienced the worse headaches and dizziness since then. The ENT still feels as if I might have some sort of food allergy that triggers the migraines which in turn affect my sinuses that triggers my vertigo. Question: Can these pills be taken like that all at once? Or whatever your recommended dosage cut in half?

I take 150mg 2x daily for migraines. It helps so much for the pain but the side effect of "lost words" and sadness is hard. I chose side effects over the pain for the past 2 years though. ♡

I take these for bipolar type 2, I have gotten a few side effects but it’s not worth mentioning with my doctor cause they’ll immediately tell me to try new medication. So far we have memory loss, tics, fatigue and some other minor things. All of those things were present before but they’re worse now.. 😅
