    I have epilepsy and my daughter had west syndrome, I thought nothing of it for 4 weeks and 1 day I realised it was serious, later that day she started having multiple spasms so luckily I was already at the hospital. Vigabatrin worked well but she now has a development delay and autism.

    You are absolutely right doctor, my daughter was first diagonised with Infantile spasms and we avoided ACTH due to side effects and was not guided correctly in the earlier days, ( ACTH later didn't help) today she still suffers from epileptic seizures, however viganext is now given to her. Her Seizures were very severe due to hormonal changes, now in control as with age also seizure frequency reduces to a great extent. I must say now we are lucky to have you and many more sources for awareness which can help us to discuss it further with our neurologist. Thank you doctor

    My daughter was diagnosed with IS at 9 months age. We don't really know when does it started but probably around 4-5 months age. It was rare as she would get this only after waking up from a deep sleep so we would just ignore it as if she is just getting out of deep sleep.
    We are still worried because we think we have delayed the treatment for 4-5 months.
    She has global developmental delays.
    We started with prednisolone for a month and then tapered off next month, the spasms were reduced in frequency and severity but didn't stop completely.
    Now we have started vigabatrin initially on 500mg but she was still getting episodes of spasms, now on 750mg and I still noticed it.
    Don't know what to do next.

      @@DrOmarDanoun yes but I have been doing some research to try and get to the bottom of what's going on in sleep and it seems IED and temporal lobe epielpsy is closely linked to amygdala. When I was on tegretol I never had any 'seizures' and then neurologist changed my meds 5 years ago saying ot was pseudo epilepsy and put me on lamptrigine and since then I have had thus sleep issues every single night. Tegretol is used for IED. When I was 12 I am sure I was diagnosed with temporal lobe epielpsy and not frontal lobe epilepsy.

    مسا الخير دكتور عمر. شكرا مقدماُ على هذا الشرح المفصل. منذ تقريباً ٢٠ يوم تم تشخيص إبنتي عمرها ٥ أشهر بمتلازمة وست ، بدأنا العلاج بالكورتيزون و Vigabatrin الى الان تم عمل EGG خمس مرات خلال ٣ أسابيع والحمدلله هناك تطور ايجابي يوم عن يوم. تم عمل ايضاً رنين مغناطيسي للدماغ والحمدلله الدماغ سليم. العلاج استطاع ايقاف النوبات بشكل كامل، نحن مازلنا بأنتظار تحليل الوراثة لمعرفة اذا كان السبب وراثي. بسبب النوبات بعد اول اسبوع من العلاج فقدت إبنتي إمكانية البلع واصبحت تتناول الحليب عن طريق خرطوم من الأنف الى المعدة، بفضل الله منذ اسبوع استعادة خاصية البلع وأصبحت تستطيع الرضاعة بشكل طبيعي. الأطباء في النمسا بدأو هذا الأسبوع تقليل كميات الدواء بشكل تدريجي ليرو هل تعود النوبات في حال تقليل الدواء. سؤالي لحضرتك، هل يمكن ان تعيش ابنتي حياة طبيعي مع الاستمرار بالعلاج والمعالجة الفيزيائية؟ انا متفائل لأنها تتطور يوم عن يوم بشكل إيجابي. شكراً مقدماً وآسف على الاطاله

    My 2 month old just started having the epileptic spasms . They were noticed when she was five weeks but the mother thought nothing of it as it occurred 2-3 times.
    However, today she has had over 40 of them. I’m not sure if this is considered catching it early or not. Nonetheless, what’s your best advice other than going straight to the neurologist.

    • @DrOmarDanoun
      @DrOmarDanoun  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes straight to the neurologist for evaluation and based on the findings the treatment will be decided. The best treatment is mentioned in the video
