Early diagnosis and treatment of Infantile Spasms is of the utmost importance, and in many cases can ensure a more positive prognosis and a better quality of life, and significantly increases the chances of achieving reaching normal child development milestones.

Thank you for posting this helpful video. I am going to share it with my blog readers next week. Some friends of ours are presently going through the diagnosis process since their toddler recently started having unidentified spasms. The father has epilepsy, which perhaps made them quicker to recognize something was wrong.

My daughter is 2 now she was born at 7 months and has spasms and also cerebral Palsy quadriplegic we are on physiotherapy but not improving up until now she is unable to sit on her own,cralw, etc is there anything we can do please help am in Malawi
My baby too was currently diagonised with infantile spasms I really tried figuring out the causes, he experienced a lot of delayed milestones but all in all we learnt to accept the situation though in our country its not known its very rare....but the awereness has helped us alot

One recommended going to the emergency room immediately and the other recommended just taking a video and going to see pediatrician.
The point is to not wait for a very long period of time. Like if a pediatrician appointment is scheduled within 2-3 days you might not need to go to an emergency room. But if have to wait for long periods of time it is better to go to an ER to prevent brain damage

My little girl was diagnosed with IS when she was 3months old.
fortunately she responded well to treatments and now she is 2years and 8 months.
she is doing well and everything about her is normal like her peers but her amazing doctor hasn't reduced dosage of medicines yet.
Sometimes I can't stop overthinking about future and what's going to happen if she stops taking medicines? I read an article that children with IS may develop other kinds of seizures or epilepsy...😨
If her spasms have gone away then try weaning her off of the medication. You won't know if she still needs it until you try

My daughter too. She was first diagnosed with Infantile Spasms at the age of 4 months. Indeed it often comes. Very often. Everyday... We seek treatment by seeing a pediatric neurologist since the diagnosis. I've tried many drugs too. Including Sodium Volpreate, Vigabatrin, Prednisolone, etc ... i'm still remember that she was struggling & restless when its comes. But, after a few years of treatment, she is better now. No more new episode of spasam @ seizures on 2019 till now. Now, Damia already turns 7 yrs old.

My thoughts exactly. We got an appointment for an EEG a month from today but after seeing this video we decided to go to the ER. We were admitted the same day and now we're getting an EEG in the morning.

I was just thinking this. Now I don’t know what to do because I think my baby might be having infantile spasms
I'm my case I took my son to the ER where he was misdiagnosed with reflux. I took him back home and called his pediatrician. She schedule a visit for the same day. We took him and she helped us and he was seem by a neuropediatrician next day. He was them admitted to the hospital in order get an eeg and mri done asap. Luckly it was not as bad as infatile spams but he was having seizures. He is now fine. Taking medicines twice a day.
Ya Allah do not test me with more than what I can bear and grant cure to these sick infants Aameen.

My uncle who is almost 60 has Epilepsy also mental retardation my grandfather noticed the seizures when he was 2 but it makes me wonder if he knew about this information things would be different for him 😞

My baby is having infantile spasm right now and sad to say that the drug name sabril is not available here in the Philippines. My baby is taking topiramate and keppra 5 days from now. Hope it will be both effective but somehow I am curious about the sabril because I heard a lot of parents they said it is effective.

Good afternoon, My baby born at 34 weeks premature...now she is 5 weeks old I've recognized this behavior at at almost 2 weeks old and have been told on 5 visits to 2 different pediatrician its colic... She dont cry like a colic baby would... but I can tell she's in discomfort... I've been searching Google and TH-cam for answers only to come across this video and wondering if it's already to late... I'm from Trinidad and Dr. keep saying is colic... Can someone reply with how long it took them to start treatment with a positive outcome couple years after... thanks in advance
My child's doctor told me the same thing when she was a baby. Even as she got older her would push my concerns away and tell me she was fine "she's just lazy" because she didn't crawl until 18 months and didn't take her first steps until she was 2 1/2.
Fast forward to now. She's 8 yrs old. At 4 they did an EEG and MRI. She has epilepsy from a traumatic brain injury before birth. I wish I would've listened to my gut.

Go to pediatric emergency .. and don't leave untill they do EEG for your child
We went to children's hospital, then transferred to pediatric specialty hospital and now getting EEG in the morning. Doctor said it is seizures. But with EEG exam will know more information and start medication. Keep pushing the doctors, insist and go with your gut. Take videos of your child and show them to the doctor. You know your child best and they need you to fight for them. Hope your baby gets help soon!
