    Happy quail! Good to see them scratching bedding and even some grass too. Thanks for explaining everything so well.

    I have rabbit cages, but were afraid of my quail jumping and breaking their necks. Thank you for the towel😊 idea.

    They could use a bit more space, but besides that I really like your setup! Much better than the people that just cram quail in wire bottom cages and don't care about them at all.

    I’ve got bunches of empty rabbit cages at the moment. Didn’t want to use them for the very reason you explained. I like the towel idea. Gonna give it a try, if it works well, I will be able to increase my quail set up. I only breed my rabbits in March and October due to weather extremes.

    For water I’d suggest you the bottle that is used for rabbits , you know the one that is positioned externally of the cage with the drop of water ? That’s really great as it doesn’t get dirty , they won’t get wet , I personally use this and it’s the best in my opinion . Some canaries breeders use them too ( the smaller ones for hamsters ) and they find it much more hygienic than the usual small bird bottle . Birds will learn to drink from the drop .

    Thanks for this but question; I read that you shouldn't use pine shavings cause it can affect their respiratory tracks?

    We are in the UK so no substantial temperature ranges and so my quails’ rabbit housing is outside. Now my housing has very close mesh. We have such a rat issue in rural UK that I couldnt use your rabbit crates, they would easily eat my quail!

    Are your quail cages in a green house? Also, what is that dark sand looking thing you use for them to cool off? I love your set up.

    Hey Ash! Just one question.....What size are those quail cages? I'm new as well and had this idea recently and then saw your vid. I didn't hear you mention the cage size. Are you housing a 4-1 ratio....looks like it...
    I like the feed idea with the mason jars but I think I am going to work on a nipple watering system instead. Thanks for your reply when you get around to it! Chuck.

    • @ashlaree7081
      @ashlaree7081  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! The size of those cages are 31x17x20. I normally do a 4-1 or 5-1 ratio. A nipple water system would totally work! And I think it would save a lot of time! I’ve just found that when all of my foul birds have something to dip their beak into, it keeps it clean. But, that is mainly for chickens and ducks. I have used a nipple watering setup before and it worked great for the quail! Good luck with your quail!

    • @suzannemortimer9752
      @suzannemortimer9752 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My chickens are happy with nipple drinkers and a bucket, although they like a water bowl too to dip into, but my quail wont use nipple drinkers. I suspend their water because otherwise they poop in it.

    What are the dimensions for your little wooden stand that you put the food and water on? I have the same size cages

    • @ashlaree7081
      @ashlaree7081  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m not entirely sure. I just measured the depth of my cages and then cut the wood accordingly. I’d say they’re around 13-15 inches across. The height is about 4-5 inches. Hopefully that helps!
