idea : I always wonder for the existence of a large West and East Germanys during the Cold War. Say the Allies split Germany in half according to the 1939 German borders when they invaded Poland. Maybe to sell this idea to the Austrians better is to have West Germany to unite with Austria, as they were the traditional leader of the Germans, or maybe they can reduce the Prussian identity among their northern brothers. And maybe to calm down the Polish people in the larger East Germany the Soviets can give their eastern Polish land claims pre 1939. A larger West Germany with Austria and parts of the Sudetenland could play a bigger role in NATO or in the EEC. A larger East Germany could be like a main guy for the Soviet Union in the Warsaw Pact. After the fall of the Soviet Union, NATO and Europe could decide whether to allow German unification or have the two states separate.

That territory only was annexed by the Belgians after the first world war and never was a part of their nation before.

This is unironically something I’ve been thinking about for a while, personally I don’t see why the Balkan wars wouldn’t happen, my preference is to turn one of the Balkan wars into ww1, for instance, the second Balkan war: Austria invades Serbia and Romania in defense of Bulgaria in order to prevent Serbia from becoming strong enough to threaten their territory. Russia declares war on Austria Hungary in defense of Serbia, this triggers a partition pact negotiated in secret earlier pulling Germany and Italy into the war. The French join on the Austrian side in accord with previously negotiated treaties with Austria, the ottomans which are now essentially a French sphereling are forced to declare war on Russia with promises of Bulgarian concessions and reconquest of Balkan territory. I also like a French “Schlieffen plan” but idk if their generals could or would think of it. I personally think that the British would not intervene given that they had been trying to weasel out of their commitments to Belgium for decades before this and a French Schlieffen would make France the unjustified aggressor now. As for the outcome of the war, it depends on British choices: If the British join the Russo-German side then quick and easy war, after like 2-3 years they’re in Berlin negotiating the partition of Austria and the Middle East and peace terms with France If the British stay neutral I imagine a longer more bloody war, essentially bogged down in the Belgian country side and a couple miles in either direction of the French border. Belgium got Eupen-Malmedy after WW1 as reperations in our timeline which is a pretty small piece of land. Granted, in our timeline there was Woodrow Wilson and his self determination which probably stopped any large belgian gains into core german territory. So Calais seems like alot of reperations for close to, if not less damage since maybe the french would treat Belgian populations better than the Germans. This was a much longer reply than I expected but I want you to know that I still think this video was amazing and that you should keep it up!

They'd have all the Balkans, the Ottoman Empire and Italy against them, so they'd know that there was no way that they wouldn't get to be at least occupied, if not ethnically cleansed.
In regards to the congo i reckon germany would pressure Belgium to accept a deal where they lose the congo and get some other colony. Algeria comes to mind
Why do you think Corsica would remain french? I mean if even Malta was to be given to Italy I see no way the Italians would stop since Corsica would literally be the last remaining place they wanted. Also Spain would definitely get some minor border changes at the french border with areas with Basque and Catalan majority going to Spain.
I think that France can continue the war to keep Corsica, while Germany and Russia would no longer help Italy as they got what they wanted. The Italians won't fight a bloody war over Corsica and risk losing Nice and Savoy, so they may concede, for now. There is always WW2 to solve that issue

You had me until Spain joins the war. Spain was so weak and Portugal was a British ally. I also think it's unlikely that Germany would gain any territory in Africa given the British navy's dominance. It's more likely that they would lose all of their colonies and eventually be okay with it. Germany colonial empire was actually a financial drain with the exception of Samoa (which produced phosphates). Bismarck never even wanted an overseas empire.
I did say that Spain was extremelly weak in all departements, so I don't see the problem mentioning them. They didn't turn the tides of the war and simply got Gibraltar, nothing drastic has changed and is overall a small detail compared to the bigger picture
@@rewriting-history Portugal was a close British ally, so Britain would use Portugal as a base of operations to enter Spanish territory as they did during the Napoleonic Wars. The Entente would also have naval supremacy of the area and land troops anywhere on the Spanish coast.
Something important to note here would be that, b4 russia joined the entente it was backwards poor and had a bad military. French aid was crucial to russian economy and military tactics as far as i know. In contrast germany didnt exactly want a powerful austria hungary, just strong enough to hold russia till they crush France. In this timeline french aid is very likely to go to vienna, strengthening them while germany would still want a weaker ally they could strongarm. London is also likely to almost immediately join the war through some random casus belli. So i dont think habsburgs would be in a helpless position especially considering that their bohemian, galician and italian borders were highly defendable.

You had me until Spain joins the war. Spain was so weak and Portugal was a British ally. I also think it's unlikely that Germany would gain any territory in Africa given the British navy's dominance. It's more likely that they would lose all of their colonies and eventually be okay with it. Germany colonial empire was actually a financial drain with the exception of Samoa (which produced phosphates). Bismarck never even wanted an overseas empire.
I did say that Spain was extremelly weak in all departements, so I don't see the problem mentioning them. They didn't turn the tides of the war and simply got Gibraltar, nothing drastic has changed and is overall a small detail compared to the bigger picture
@@rewriting-history Portugal was a close British ally, so Britain would use Portugal as a base of operations to enter Spanish territory as they did during the Napoleonic Wars. The Entente would also have naval supremacy of the area and land troops anywhere on the Spanish coast.
Something important to note here would be that, b4 russia joined the entente it was backwards poor and had a bad military. French aid was crucial to russian economy and military tactics as far as i know. In contrast germany didnt exactly want a powerful austria hungary, just strong enough to hold russia till they crush France. In this timeline french aid is very likely to go to vienna, strengthening them while germany would still want a weaker ally they could strongarm. London is also likely to almost immediately join the war through some random casus belli. So i dont think habsburgs would be in a helpless position especially considering that their bohemian, galician and italian borders were highly defendable.
