Thank you, good video! It was easy to follow and understand, and it wasn't long or boring. Simple and effective! All of my thumb stick (3 controllers) have no more rubber so it just hurt my thumbs if I try to play games like Super Smash. ;)
It's nice Nintendo put a zip tie on the cable for great alignment I just needed to brush up on opening one. I set up a Potentiometer in a GameCube without using a multimeter it works great I'm buying my first multimeter next week
thanks for the help, I did it around 3 hours. the only thing that's off about the new grey analog stick replacement I got from Ebay is it doesn't make the clicking noise when i move around in circles but the yellow C analog stick does, probably is because it's rubber or it has to do with the size of the grey analog stick so yea.
This happened for me aswell the problem might be for you that you pushed the control stick in too far/not far enough. You have to get it correct its kinda annoying
@@sam-o7909 I did found out, I tried to pull it out a little and it kinda work, but I also have 2 problems is that it moves by itself and I also notice it has flakes on my controller. Thank god I just bought the oem version of the analog sticks
Would this affect the looseness of the analog stick? I've had my controller for 12 years, and I love the looseness of the sticks since it's been used so much. The grip is worn down, so would a new stick affect the feeling?
I get how this is great for the grip and feel of the rubber of a new analog stick. But what if your analog stick has a lot of play, is that more of an internal issue, or will this also fix the loose play of the stick? Perfect pivots man!
the loose feeling could be a few things 1. most likely worn springs inside the potentiometer box which will require unsoldering the old boxes and resoldering new ones (unless there is a way to open these boxes and replace the worn springs but I have not personally seen this done but I imagine it is possible) 2. broken connectors like this video demonstrates these sticks are actually just covers and if the connector becomes damaged you would have to replace the damaged part you may get lucky and it would just be the cap you may get unlucky and have to replace the potentiometer box 3. if you are just having an issue with "drifting" the potentiometer box may just have dirt/dust in the potentiometers in which case some ipa (isopropyl alcohol/ rubbing alcohol) could be used along with moving the sticks to help work the ipa into the contact pads and flush any of that debris out (if you try this let the device dry for an hour before plugging it into anything. although it should not take that long for the ipa to evaporate it's best to be safe and not sorry) I hope this helps someone best of luck!
dude im a noob just for gamecube controllers, two of my gamecube controllers joystick rubber skin came off. like the rubber skin thingy on top of the joytstick.
Infinity323 don't by them from amazon or ebay most of the time the replacement sticks have mushy feel, especially the analong stick. Just go one ebay and search "broken gamecube controller" then get them. Use the nintendo screw driver and open it up and take the parts out. They will work with your controller.
I am kind of sad. I did this exact thing that SlySavesGames told me to do but the stick still didn't work! My issue I think is that something in my controller fried because there is some black substance by the analog stick. It might have to be soldered again. Not sure what the issue is but I might as well just buy a new controller!
FYI I bought a 10-pack of one of the top selling GameCube replacement sticks (analog and c stick) in Amazon and they didn’t have the little nub that you described, so they didn’t fit. Really annoying.
Will this fix the problem i have in ssbm? Here and there after moving around the analog stick it will think im continuously moving left, right or down. Then i have to recenter it constantly.
a little late but take the controller apart put some ipa (Isopropyl alcohol) in the box that the sticks attach to and move them around to help clean the contacts in the potentiometer box let dry and reassemble should help cheers!
If you're still looking for help, snapback/flickback is purely in the stick mechanism. You can purchase them for cheap from Battle Beaver Customs. You need a tri-wing screwdriver. I'd recommend looking at Zenith SSBM's GameCube controller opening tutorial.
Open your controller again, and see if the rumble motor (disc shaped thing in the back of the controller, resting in the “hump” of the shell) got disconnected. They easily detach from the board since it’s pretty much only held in place by the back bracket, and soldered to the board with the red/black wire. If it’s disconnected, you have to solder the wires to the board again
thx my friend has melee and when I come to his house I have to use a crappy GameStop controller so I decided to buy a new controller (I have a Wii) but I feel sorry for my friend because his controller is so messed up that is the longest comment I have typed
Had old controllers and now that ultimate came up this vid comes so handy now
Huh, that's much easier than I thought it was gonna be. Thanks for sharing

I’m waiting for my sons new buttons now so this video was a god send
If it has two sets of the control stick and c-stick, it’s better using dual control stick because it’s way more comfortable.
This is exactly the advice I needed. Thank you.
thanks, this helped to ensure me how to off the sticks safely. cleaning this can be scary lol

sounds like you pushed it in too far though if it doesn't make the clicky sound

Can you do the same thing with the switch gamecube controller?
Good video, just what I needed. Hopefully the wavebird is similar

sonicpoz nope, that's an issue with the analog box

If the sticks feel loose pretty sure you need to replace the stick box not the sticks

Amazing video my friend, everything was just fine!
Thanx!

got the job done thanks mate
Thnx Bro💯
Np man!
Thank you for the video. 2020
Do you by any chance have a link to the replacement sticks that you bought? I don't know which ones are compatible/good.

You can pretty much use any Nintendo stick you want. Some people take the sticks out of nunchucks and put them in gc controllers
@@ivylain5479 But you just said in the first part NOT to buy from eBay lol
Thanks man very helpful

Where did you get the replacement sticks from I hear mixed reviews on most of them
You can use wii nunchuck sticks
@@rowdow9191 That would suck not gonna lie

I bought some replacement sticks with the screwdriver off of amazon

You could just grab like a razer and cut it in
Thank you!
Nice one, cheers!
Could you put a control stick in place of the c stick?
Mir4ge now why would you do that? Even so, no you can’t. They are different shapes.
Rendiss, I tried it, it works! Thanks for your encouraging words and support!
Mir4ge fuck

Thank you good sir 🙏
My black one is messed up the analog stick is not there the rubber part my indigo one is good this looks challenging but didn’t know it wasp possible

Hey dude, where did you get those parts?
Just search up: gamecube analog and c stick replacement sticks.
I hate the mushy feel, i think that it could wear off so quick
My controller has flickback. Does this fix it?

Ur gonna have to replace the stick box, need a solder, soldering iron, and a desolder tool i think? Theres a way to do it without it but its harder
Is it the same process for a wave bird?
i think so
Awesome!
I cant close it when i finish , dont know what to do cause it doesnt fit
what stick? a pretzel stick? oh, you mean a analog stick.
Cool
I tried it but the rumble doesn't work. How do I fix that?
Open your controller again, and see if the rumble motor (disc shaped thing in the back of the controller, resting in the “hump” of the shell) got disconnected.

Bruh
I could imagine sweating my ass off disassembling my controller dammit
That entire controller is fucking nasty lol
PSA: The Z-button can be a real b1tch, try to make sure you don't displace it while opening. Otherwise, enjoy puzzling like me. :D
never get cheap gamecube sticks they feel bad
As much as I love the high pitched squealing of a tube TV, can you turn it off after your intro next time?

Who is here because they want to play soulcaliber 2 on GameCube but the control sticks are loose
anyone else hear a high pitch sound in the vid?
