    As someone who works at a venue who hosts events for Smash, I find it interesting how there are still people playing the GameCube game with the old controllers.
    And what I've learned is that there are glitches you can do which is why people prefer it a lot of the time. Isn't glitching like that considered cheating, especially in tournaments? And modifying controllers is considered cheating in other games too.
    It's an old game but that's why there's newer ones. Many people compete on the Switch, I see. Maybe it's nostalgia but it seems very interesting to me how many people still obsess over this 20 year old game.

    What are your thoughts on the Panda Controller? The pricing makes it so accessible that I think it might just be a game changer for the scene

    • @SethLovestoTalk
      @SethLovestoTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Panda controller solves the problem of a lack of 3rd party options, but considering they are only doing a limited run at first, it theoretically could run into some of the issues Nintendo controllers have of replacement parts becoming harder to find (I.e stick boxes). With that being said, they seem to understand this and plan on having some sort of system for modders to leverage for replacement parts that will make this less of an issue. As long as the controller plays well, I think it’ll be a really really great thing for players and modders alike, and lead to even more customization options.

  • @x9x9x9x9x9
    @x9x9x9x9x9 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome video I wish we had a community photographer just for controllers to take photos of the pros controllers and list all the mods done to them. I have always been interested in this.
    BUT personally I think boxes and phobs should be banned until we get a proper rule in place. My personal rule right now would be allow the classic mods like notches, trigger plugs, springs, snap back modules, etc... Then as we figure out how to regulate phobs we can add them in but I feel like boxes should have to have an analog stick whether thats from a nunchuck or a fight stick it doesn't matter. But the main thing we need to get rid of is the modifier button on boxes. It causes the no macro rule to go out the window. As it currently stands I could build my own box add 2 buttons for perfect ledge dashes and wave shines or pivot tippers and since the macro rule is not being followed it would be fine. Also button remapping is questionable at best. Z jumping gives a clear advantage making the game SORT OF pay to win. UCF was allowed to avoid a pay to win scenario but here we are... I would say Hax's 1.03 is a good change if it was just z jumping but he added way too many changes and many of them benefit the box. Which he of course has a financial interest in. There is some sweet irony in him changing the game after his whole evidence.zip fever dream in which he said "leffen is changing the game and community we grew to love" then he goes on to release the boxx and 1.03...
    Also unfreeze stadium you cowards.
    I am not a melee purist but we have strayed WAY too far from the games original release. But oh well it wont stop me from playing and it really doesn't matter to me as I am not a top level player this is just a pointless rant I guess.

    Melee gets a pass because it's such an old game made at the infancy of modern gaming (To me thats PS2, Xbox, GameCube, and onward. Everything before is retro), but today if your game needs a hyper-modded controller to be played right that's a game-design issue and not a hardware issue. I could never get into melee because I like polish and in that regard the game is a wonky nightmare. 99% of advanced tech is just breaking the game in some way. I'd love for nintendo to make a technically demanding Smash game but they never would, there's no financial incentive. Today it will always be a compromise between 70% casual party game/ 30% competitively minded.
