Something that kills me is I bet LeBron fans didn't even watch him play high school ball, they watched highlights! I was born in the 70s in Chicago, I was mad when the Bulls win their first championship because I was a Magic fan as a kid when he played at Michigan State! I watched him play Bird and then play in the Finals! People are really casual fans if they don't know the game in any era... there wasn't just one player, but players on great teams! When MJ hit the league players had to play positions, but Jordan took over AT shooting guard, but it's the fact that he played both sides of the ball! If you only look at highlights, guess what? He played like that EVERY single game starting at N.C. with James Worthy, Sam Perkins, and Kenny Smith! I'm my opinion regardless of the record, the Bulls weren't better than the teams they beat in the finals until his second 3peat!

I'm from Michigan. Born and raised. I absolutely HATE Micheal Jordan! I LOVED watching my Bad Boy Pistons send him home every year!!! And I've watched both his AND Lebron's careers in their entirety and it's not even CLOSE! Jordan was better by every metric. Even with the current use of analytics, Jordan is STILL better.
Trust me, I WANT someone else to be the GOAT so I can stop having to admit it's Jordan. But, I know what I saw with my own eyes. And the baddest man to ever step on that court, was MJ.
And this is coming from his biggest hater!

I’m this way about Kobe. I’ve been a Mavs fan and Kobe dominated against us year in and year out. He and MJ are about the only two players I’ve seen that when they got fired up, it was over. No defense was holding them.

Jordan said it best when he described Kobe.
"He's cursed just like I am. That "need" to win."
Key word being "need." It wasn't about the money. Wasn't about the endorsements, the popularity, the stats. They played as hard as they did because they HAD to win! And would do any and everything to ensure it.
Even if it costs them everything! For Kobe, his health. For Jordan, his friendships and even his marriage.
That indeed, sounds like a curse.

There can be a major difference between cold hard facts and what you feel is right and that is where a lot of Lebron fans can't (or won't) make the distinction with any objectivity. Here is a fact for you, only four times in the history of the NBA has a player in the same season earned the following achievements:
    Regular Season MVP
    NBA Champion
    Finals MVP
    Scoring Title Champion
Selected onto the All NBA 1st Team
Selected onto the NBA All Defensive 1st Team
MJ was the player responsible for ALL four of those occasions and that is just one of the reasons as to why he is the GOAT.

If Jordan and LeBron played at the same time, Jordan would make it his top priority to be #1. Even if LeBron was way better than Jordan in the beginning, Jordan would practice until he was the better player. He wouldn't accept being #2 and wouldn't let it happen. Jordan was the GOAT because he put in the time and effort to be the best player in the world. He would play 36 holes of golf in the afternoon, then drop 50 points in a game that evening. Not to mention game 5 of the '97 NBA finals where he had a 103° fever, and still got 38 pts, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, AND dropped the game-winning 3 pointer. "Stop showing him in a Lakers jersey."...If LeBron didn't hop from team to team to team, you wouldn't have that problem, LOL. That's another flaw to LeBron's career that this assessment didn't even mention. LeBron has used free agency to try to stack the deck in terms of his roster to help him win. MJ never had to do that because he didn't need "outside help" to win. Even when they added Dennis Rodman in 1995-96, Rodman was a misfit who wasn't a desired free agent among other NBA teams. He was a rebounder and defender with an attitude problem. Chicago was the only place he could have succeeded because of MJ's leadership and non-tolerance of the kind of shenanagins Rodman was known for at the time. MJ was the only player a malcontent like Rodman would respect.

LeBron James started slacking off on defense before he joined the Lakers. He's just now at the point where his age can be a legitimate part of the excuse. Remember he last made a defensive team in Miami. MJ made All-defensive 1st team last at 35. Being one of the leaders in the league in minutes , scoring and still being a first team defensive player in your mid thirties and playing all 82 games plus the playoffs? They rarely make players like that anymore. You can make entire highlight videos just of LeBron standing on the opposite side of the court watching his team play 4 v 5 on defense. Defense is all about effort. Trying and failing is much different than failing because you didn't try. Jordan has multiple seasons with over 200 steals and 100 blocks including 2 with both. LeBron has never had a season with either.
Additionally he gives you the numbers to back up what he says. Ignoring them because you don't like what they say makes you biased. And remember that a lot of the numbers he gave INCLUDE the Wizards years which lowered his overall totals. Even with the Washington years dragging them down he still leads in many catagories and analytics. MJ coming back to play for the Wizards helped LeBron because now he isn't as far behind if we were just counting the Bulls years.

Instead, he says lets see VORP per season. And leads you to believe thats a fair comparison. But guess what? It is cumulative for a single season, too. Meaning who played the most games a season will have the highest score. Jordan played 12 season with 78 games or more, Lebron only 7. Still Lebron has 15 seasons in the top 100, MJ only 11.

Jordan was amazing but he took multiple years off and was a shell of himself even at a rested 38. The all time record for highest PPG for a year 20 player was 17ppg by Kobe, LeBron just shattered it by averaging almost 30ppg. Greatness is not only about achieving in a short time but ultimately defined by how long a player has been able to remain among the best in the world, And that is LeBron James for 20 years straight and is unprecedented in NBA.

There is so much you see when you watch nba as it happens. Highlights don't show build up, pressure, hype, intensity.. you don't see the game in game out toughness of a team through highlights. I cringe when young fans actually attempt to discredit Jordan's competition. If you watched both, you see the lack of defense, physicality and intensity between competitors today.

Has Michael Jordan lost a playoff series?
Those 8 years are still considered iconic and will be forever because of the stature of what MJ and the Bulls achieved. Yeah and last year they averaged like 130ppg. In the 80's and 90's it was in the 90ppg range. So scoring 30 a game was much more impressive then, or even at the beginning of LeBrons career, than now.

Depends on the period you're looking at. Late 80s they would score on avg almost as much as they scored in the past 5 years or so (except for maybe last season, which was insane). Those numbers started to decline a bit in the early 90s, but were still higher than in the first half of LeBron's career. The real decrease started in the 2nd half of the 90s and continued throughout the 2000s until the early 2010s. Then gradually after 2015 thngs picked back up again, to reach that insane 114 ppg average this past season. I don't think this is an argument against LeBron, although I didn't calculate the average between LBJ and MJs career years. That's probably still a bit higher for LeBron, but I don't think it influences that much. What does influence instead is those under 3feet, over 3feet shooting numbers, where it's obvious from the percentages, but also from volumes thay LeBron is a player with a limited bag compared to MJ, Kobe and others. You cannot deny LeBron has one dominant style (and I don't care if he creates his shots or not): he's a buldozer and he's eficient from close range only
