Here's something that I'm going to share that will shock you. In a span of 32 months, Michael Jordan won 3 Finals championships, 3 Finals MVPs, 3 scoring titles, 2 NBA MVPs, was named All-Defensive 1st team 3 times and missed 0 games that whole time. There has never been another player to come close to that. And I dare you go look it up. That man is truly in a league of his own just off of that.

With all due respect, LeBron is so hated because he takes no real accountability when his team loses. MJ never failed to say WE need to work harder and win next time. LeBron rarely does that. His manipulation of the media through Klutch Sports, then the narratives said media spits out to place blame on his teammates, and his cringey obsession now with being called the GOAT. All of that stuff may be loved by thia younger generation, but for old school long, long-time fans of basketball, it's insulting. Swapping teams left and right to win rings, loudly proclaiming something that should only be given to you by your peers and fans when they know you've earned it, it rubs older fans and players the wrong way.
He's an incredible player no doubt, but he's not the GOAT. As a man once said, "any man who has to sa he's the king is no true king." LeBron will likely never get that position because he tried to claim it in a way most true basketball fans hate.

No, he didn't win every single game or make every single shot. I don't think any player can, even Wilt. The juggernaut that jordan faced, and eventually beat, were the Detroit pistons, Isaiah Thomas, Bill Lambier, Joe Dumars and Dennis Rodman. They went to the finals, 88,89,90, Jordan faced them 88,89,90,91. Detroit won the finals back to back 89 and 90. In 89 they swept EVERYONE, except MJ's Bulls. In Scottie and Horrace Grants second year where they were both scoring less than 12 a game. 91 Jordan beat them, with no other player on his team making all Nba or all defensive that year. You know the rest.
To your point about Lebron's role being more point guard like and thus why he has more turn overs, this is also why he has more assists, but their similar ratio of assists to turn overs suggests they are both equally skilled at passing, it just was Lebron's job more often than MJ'S.
And for last PLAY, not just last shot, consider this. Jordan did pass, his pass to Bill Paxton won them the NBA Championship in, I believe, 92, and the pass to Stephen Kerr won the chip in 96. In addition, the percentage of shots made in those clutch moments speaks to more than accuracy of shots, but accuracy of decision. In other words Jordan is making the right play, shooting when he should and passing when he should in those last seconds and getting to his spots and taking good shots in those last seconds as well. Meanwhile, Lebron's accuracy is so much lower than normal because his decision making is taking a hit in those last seconds, he is taking shots when he should pass and he is passing when he should shoot. His shot selection and decision making in the clutch is off.

I'll tell you the real "eye test" when it comes to Jordan. I grew up watching Jordan. I have never been a basketball fan, except when Jordan was playing. Jordan made every game must see even for people who didn't care about basketball. When you watched a game and he had a "good" game by any other players standard, you were disappointed. If you didn't see something spectacular every single time Jordan was on the court, it was disappointing, because you expected greatness every time and most of the time you got it. I see Lebron more like the slow and steady wins the race kind of player. You just know he's going to consistently be really good and keep racking up stats and wins, little by little, which IS great in itself. But, if Jordan had like 22 pts, 4 assists, 5 rebounds, and a steal, you would go away thinking that he had a bad game.

    • @itsshadbih
      @itsshadbih  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I feel that!

    • @G_Writah
      @G_Writah 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

That's exactly how I see it.
Watching Jordan was simply magical. When he missed two shots in a row, you were disappointed.
When he missed a free throw, you were disappointed.
If he produced a turnover, you were disappointed.
That alone shows how great MJ was.
I don't know if it's because of the general attitude in sports today, but I just don't see that mentality of going after every ball anymore.
I'm also tired of watching games these days.
      It's all offense.
How often do I see defenders standing under the basket and they just don't do anything.
Players are just escorted to the basket.
Compare Lebron's and MJ's mixtapes that were created by the NBA itself.
Lebron's dunk highlights are almost all unguarded or without the participation of the opponents.
Jordan has his hands, upper body or feet in his face 80% of the time.
Or simply 4 players on his neck.
The fact that the big men used to be parked under the basket to prevent such actions makes MJ's actions even more valuable.
I'm also one of the people who was lucky enough to see Jordan, Kobe, Carter and LeBron play.
And I can only agree 100000% with the Eye Test here.
Jordan was one of a kind in the sports world.

Grateful I was there both times, I witnessed true greatness in person. Was going to Mariners games back then as well when Griffey Jr an Randy Johnson were on the team. Those guys were great too but not like MJ. All time athletes on Mt Rushmore? MJ definitely on there. I don't know who else, Babe Ruth, Tom Brady, Muhammed Ali, Mike Tyson? I don't know who else but I know MJ would be on there
An yes, all offense in today's game. Makes it very hard to watch when I was use to watching the way they played in the 90's. I use to go to Sonics games all the time, loved them. An they played really good defense back then.@@G_Writah

I definitely see where you're coming from..but I don't see that Warriors team beating the Bulls dynasty team at all. I see the Bulls beating them in 6. For the Warriors fans, if they were so good, why weren't they able to 3-peat?? Bulls did it Twice! Even with great shooters, wide spacing and far less defense than the Bulls era, the Warriors still couldn't do
      3 peat.
The Bulls matched up well with the Warriors. The Bulls had 4 defensive specialists who could play the interior and perimeter..MJ, Pippen, Rodman and Harper. Bulls had the greatest scorer and greatest defensive player in the league.
Bulls also had a roster of clutch shooters that could shoot from anywhere on the court.
The 3 pt shot is highly overrated. MJ got 6 rings on 2pt shots...tho he shot the 3 well.
I don't think the Warriors would've fared so well in the 80's or 90's, because defense
was tough during those decades. People forget, that every team had a few 'hitmen' who's
job it was to take players out! There's a reason no one played 20 years during those days, not too mention, load mgmt wasn't a thing either.
The Bulls were also a more experienced team, with the most clutch player in league
history! They were more physical as well.

Also, I fail to understand why people downplay the 3 peats and say warriors would've 3 peated if KD and Klay didn't get injured. yes, they got injured in a time where sports medicine/technology is a lot better. Jordan and Pippen didn't in a more physical era.
Also, I can understand the hate from his teammates (I say understand not agree with). Imagine being them (grown men) for a min, where fans and reporters/media are saying you need this 18-year-old kid to win. Would you take that well?

Really like your analysis, just two things. I watched almost all of MJ's finals games, and many, many of his regular season games. If you could watch just some of his regular games, you will see that he played the same as the playoffs, game in and game out. He never took a game off. I never saw a single one out of hundreds of games. Watching game after game, (especially after the first couple of years and Bird faded) your eyes told you without fail who the best player was on the floor every single game, no matter the outcome. (I saw the Bulls get way behind in one game on a long, long road trip, and the natural thing to do would be to give him a rest. He kept playing and brought them back, but they did ultimately lose. He never quit.)
You kept saying you weren't bias, and you know that is not true. You confessed that multiple times, though you did acknowledge the evidence as true. Second, there are so many things about Lebron that got skipped over, like his performances in Miami in the finals where he just didn't show up, and those statistics don't lie. That alone (and he was in his early prime) would have to bring him down some, even if he learned from all of that and advanced. Something no one else seems to ever brings up also is the Olympics where the game (I think it was against Spain) was close and Kobe, not Lebron, had to put the team on his back to get them through. Lebron seems to all but become just another player. Without Lebron, they wouldn't be there, but to me the best would have to be the best in the toughest situations. (If you get a chance, watch Jordan's flu game, which was in the finals.) Lebron is in my top 3, below Michael and Larry Bird. I have him even above Kobe because he is more versatile.

Lebron is not trash but the stats are facts about the jumper. He still averages 50% from the field because he’s a dominant player inside and one of the best finishers ever right up there with shaq. What bothers me from watching bron is that there’s a lack of aggression when both his team and the opposing team is fishing for buckets. Teams are so obsessed with the 3 ball that teams will end up putting up bricks from beyond the arc just praying they get hot and go on a run. A player like lebron should be that consistent scoring outlet and back defenders down and get to those easy shots more regardless of if he has to go to the line. That leads to another issue I have with lebrons game: the fact that he’s a point guard. Don’t get me wrong, lebron is a phenomenal passer. But he would get so many more buckets if he didn’t half to initiate so much of his offense with the ball constantly in his hands, especially on the perimeter. Look at jokic. Doesn’t have half the gifts lebron has besides being a better jump shooter but he lets Jamal initiate the perimeter while he can set himself up in a great position on the post up, whether it be to score or to dime up a teammate. Bird did the same thing. In fact, Jordan was one of the best players ever without the ball and hardly needed the rock to create offense. His use of back door cuts and general knack to find spots whether it be in the post, middy jumpers or lobs was textbook. That’s what frustrates me about lebron. There’s just little things that he could do that would make him so much more effective and in my opinion more comparable to someone like mj. If he was primarily a post up player and someone who didn’t want the rock at the top of the key every time, I’d guarantee he’d have won at least 2 more chips than he did or maybe more. You mention that 07 spurs squad. Look up the margin of victory by that spurs team, not a single double digit win on that cavs team. I know lebron didn’t necessarily have superstar help but he did have a really solid defensive squad that always kept him within reach each game. Lebron shot in the mid 30s from the field that series and he would’ve definitely took the series further if not get the dub if he were to not play on the perimeter where Bruce Bowen eats players alive. Obviously 2011 would’ve been a different story as well. I believe a lot of series would’ve gone differently as well even if he were not to win. Lebron went on a scoring spree against the 2015 warriors who hadn’t earned their dynasty status at that point. Bron was up 2-1 and if he had just played off the perimeter and more in the post he definitely would’ve had more consistent shooting performances than what he had games 4-6. When bron gets hot, he’s obviously unstoppable. It’s just the fact that there’s not a lot of consistent output on the offensive end and it’s frustrating knowing he was more than capable of it. He’s 6’9, 280 and was by far the best athlete in the league for at least 17 years it seems. There’s no valid excuse to just hang around the perimeter and not force your way inside whether it be for scoring or to also make the brilliant assists he’s capable of. MJ did all these things and more and he played shooting guard at 6’6, 220 lbs. that’s just my take tbh

larry bird was on the front cover of sports illustrated as a senior at indiana state. when he faced magic in the NCAA championship game, it was the most watched game in the history of basketball(still to this day). he signed the biggest contract at the time ever. the pressure to win was ginormous. he came to a boston squad that had won 26 games the year before. after ONE season with bird, they won 60+ games. biggest turnaround in NBA history. his second year with the celts, they won the title. then again in 86 and 87. bird and his celts even swept jordan's bulls two year straight in the playoffs. and that was with MJ putting up 49 points the first night and then 63 the next. and bird won 3 straight league MVPS during the era of the most talent the NBA has ever seen. Bird was better than Lebron by a mile. but then again, bird was better than everyone during those 80's runs. bird average 50/40/90 for 4 years straight. love your passion for the game and lebron, but the league has a LONG history of some sick players. as you get older, you'll learn about them and your attitudes will change. stat with BIRD... then magic and so on. kareem has just as much debate as the best ever as anyone else. but bird was better than lebron. even lebron has stated that much himself.

LBJ just played a long time & I believe if he played all 82 he would've already retired. LBJ hooks up with other established all-star players to win. He always had multiple all-stars. He was the only player in last season playoffs to have a top 10 player and Davis played good but they couldn't get it done. (LBJ, Harden& KD SMH.)

I've watched almost Jordan's entire career, watched Kobe's and LeBrons entire careers. Jordan is my goat. I think the thing for MJ isn't just what he done, its more so how he did it. Thinking about that and then how LeBron met with Wade and Bosh and how he announced going to Miami, its why he receives so much hate. People forget that he was young, rich, and didn't go to college. Jordan is my goat but if LeBron had went to college, he would probably be the goat hands down. College would've polished him up better than him learning on the fly in the NBA.

A person CAN think Jordan is the better player without thinking James is “trash” or some other nonsense. Dude is certainly a top 10 (at least) player all-time.
On the shooting portion, I don’t think DP was dissing LeBron for him driving the lane for the majority of his shots. He’s just pointing out the “why” in regards to James having a better shooting percentage than MJ. Shaq’s shooting percentage is about 9 points higher (58% to 49%)
than Steph Curry, but I think it’d be foolish to say Shaq is the better shooter.
    Great reaction.

Larry Bird fans only have an issue if you say that Jordan is the most clutch player in history. Larry Bird knew that Jordan was better than him. That 1986 game where Jordan was playing for a team comparable to the cavaliers in Bron's first couple of years against one of, if not the most stacked teams in NBA history with 5 prime Hall of famers and one or of prime Hall of famer and took them to triple overtime. Bird knew that Jordan was the best player in the court. He also knew that the next 6 or 7 best players were all Celtics. Bird is arguably a better shooter and definitely a better three point shooter and is more clutch. But bird and magic both say Jordan is the goat.

Question for you: do you rather make it to the finals and lose more than you win, or do you want to win every time? I don't hate Lebron, but #'s don't lie plan and simple. I'm old enough to have seen both of them play. I'm a Pacers fan so Reggie, Schrempf, Rose were my favorites, but I also watched every Bulls game that came on TV. MJ was just special, and Lebron is just really good. In terms of scoring, take this inconsideration. Wilt Chamberlain is in the record books for scoring a 100 points in a game, and he is still not considered the GOAT. Also, if I go back to watch a Bulls game, I've never seen not MJ play all or 3/4's of a game but I've seen Lebron do that regularly. MJ, 1 year injury and all, played more games in 12 years than Lebron has over the course of 20 years.

I started to watch basketball because of Jordan. I admired him but I never loved him. My favorite players back in the day were Scottie Pippen and Penny Hardaway. Jordan was different. It was difficult to relate to him. It seemed as if he didn't want to allow any other player in the NBA to win or to shine. If they gave the MVP to somebody else or if there was talk about somebody being good Jordan tried to destroy them at the next opportunity. Guys like Ewing, Barkley, Stockton and Malone should have won a championship and now youngsters think that they weren't all that because they never won. They were great players but they were unlucky to play in Jordan's era. When Jordan retired after the first three-peat all the other teams thought that this was their moment. Then he came back after a couple of years of playing baseball and won three more. Again, you can admire such a person but it's difficult to relate to him. Jordan played against many other great players like Kareem, Bird, Magic Johnson or Kobe but there was never any GOAT debate. The GOAT should be like porn. You know it when you see it. And if you are not Muhammad Ali you can't go around telling everybody that you are the greatest of all time. The GOAT thing should be self explanatory and when you saw Jordan play it was obvious even to non basketball fans that he was very different from anybody else. And as was said in the video there was no such thing as load management especially with Jordan. He played hard on offense and defense every night, every quarter. But in a way he had to. Jordan was an icon and part of contemporary pop culture. People from all around the world watched the NBA and were wearing the Air Jordans because of him. He had created this myth and set a standard that was so high that it didn't allow for going easy or failing altogether. Having a "good game" was already sort of a disappointment. It's surprising that the never mentally cracked under the pressure to deliver. May be he would have if he hadn't been out of the sport in the middle of his career. Many people say that the Bulls would have won 8 straight, but I highly doubt that could have happened. In the 93 season you could see that as a team the Bulls were slipping. In the playoffs the Bulls should have lost against the Knicks and I also think that the Suns had a very favorable matchup against them. But again, Jordan simply refused to lose even when the Bulls were not so hot.

His defense starting going declining his second stint in Cleveland. Well before the Lakers. Remember he gasn't made a defensive team since Miami. LeBron is just now at the point were his age can be a part if the excuse. But it doesn't excuse most of it. And remember that a lot of his defensive problems stemmed from his lack of effort on defense some years. Barring major injury it's usually the main reason soneone who's shown how great they can play suffers that kind of dropoff. Trying and failing is different than failing because you didn't try.

Well, it’s like the video says. You just stated that Michael didn’t have the competition that LeBron did in the finals and I’m not a LeBron hater, Kobe is my favorite player, but Michael Jordan is the goat, but like the video says which is better? Beating the jug or not one time or beat the jug or not for an entire decade?
And there is some truth to the fact of how much harder the NBA was in the 80s and 90s and even into the 2000s then it is in LeBron’s era in the 2010s. There were things that weren’t even in the 90s and 80s 80s that today would get us suspended for five games .
If you take Jordan‘s bowls and put them in this area, they would beat the Warriors with KD because they would be scoring at Will. Michael would be dropping 50 points again easily. If he was dropping 30 to 40 points game when he had three people on him, handchecking, and all that , you think he wouldn’t score more when you’re not allowed to get within 5 feet of him?
