I was just talking to Mike before I left about contact/no contact. I’m surprised it’s recommended to have that much contact. Now I know there’s some grace! 😂
Great video . I might look into one of those gauges . Would be great for set up grind a few days after top dressing greens.I knock the brr off with a piece of Canadian hardwood .
I adjust mine in mow position. Made a stand to roll them onto of the grinder . Works great . Especial on multi unit sets . On older reels you can be off as much as 10 thou from bench set up and the way I do them. Do a lot of customer grinds that way . No returns . 👍 I can’t go see the cut on their courses so they need to be on 🔥
Where did you get the machined pivot bolts used for indexing?......Supplier? I would love to purchase some of those for our small & large DPA reels. Love the content you're putting out there......keep grinding!
My old mentor used to blow out the cutting units so no paper ends up on the course. I dont myself cause I have operators that spin the reels before they leave the shop and look for the paper to make sure the reel is spinning.
When you grind the top face on a used knife, do you scratch across and grind or run the factory spec angles? I really like where your going with the measurements sometimes it's hard to tell if it's square.
This might just be the best bed knife and reel setup video ever made on TH-cam. Well done
Wow! Thank you for the great compliment!
Great job thank you. I've been using a feeler gauge for quit a while now. However I never went 3 clicks. I'm going to start know.
@johnnykulick2809 Let's us know how it works for you.

@moerateb it's only .0001 or one tenthousanth of contact. I would consider that "light."
@@moerateb camera adds many decibels
Got my gauge .Thanks Trent . Pondering this for a while . Just have to figure out the brackets when I get sometime soon .
@@Mechanicturfgear please let us know how you mount it. I'm sure others will want to know.
@ will do
@@Mechanicturfgear have you figured this out yet? Trying to do the same thing.
Yep tried the feeler gauge today 👍✌🏼👏👏👏
@Mechanicturfgear Awesome! Glad to hear it!

I believe Grianger has them, too.
I got the deere pivots from grainger also. I still need the t figure out the part number for the toros

@stevenakn1 I usually grind one degree more than the factory spec on a used greens knife. If Toro says the minimum is 3°, I won't go below 4°.
@reelturftechs trent great video man, keep them coming. I basically grind the same way but I use a flexible arm incidator mounted on the motor.
Been doing this for about 25 years and never used a gauge. But i might start doing it now. But where can I find one of long a** ones?
@mariocasas5111 I get them from Mcmaster-Carr. I believe grainger has them, too.
and it is faster sin ce you can grind coth faces at same time
Omg, this should humble all the no contact nazis.
Great video.
@@mliving8686 Thank you! Different strokes for different folks.
