@@paulchace2391 it can be trying at times.
It was good to meet you in person at SRCC. Your videos are great. Keep up the great work.
@Audiomech pleasure meeting you as well! Thank you!
What dowel pin puller was he using…. I need that in my box
@@jaydotseedot This is the set I bought several years ago. It works great! amzn.to/3WFJE2D
I bet instructions said to remove tractor from clutch 😂. No warranty left ? Manuals are always sketchy. Read the instructions for a rear seal on a 2500E triplex . Pages long . I looked at it and just removed the hydro pumps coupler and flywheel lol they want the machine disassembled first 🤷 pretty weird to have a clutch go that quick ? Ha d to be defective . Nice job 👍
@@Mechanicturfgear They warrantied the clutch. It was definitely defective.
I can smell that clutch from Nebraska. 😂
@bryanepland5065 Right!? Nothing like that smell.
How long does the grinding wheel last?
@johncrewson great question! CBN is known to last for a long time. Unfortunately, I don't know how long it will last.
Drill Doctors have difficulty grinding the proper tip on any drill bits that are thicker in the middle than HSS
@@ElkoCowboy888 That's a fact!
Great job thank you. I've been using a feeler gauge for quit a while now. However I never went 3 clicks. I'm going to start know.
@johnnykulick2809 Let's us know how it works for you.
This might just be the best bed knife and reel setup video ever made on TH-cam. Well done
Wow! Thank you for the great compliment!
Been doing this for years great way to check reel speed.
@@nickamato7406 It works great!
Last time I backlapped a reel wow has to be 20 plus years ago!
It's a dying art.
How do you manage dust when grinding reels??
@@danieldelgado5469 The Foley 653 Reel grinder has a vacuum built into the machine to collect dust.
in the future, if you make a speaking error, just correct it without the need to make a scene. it happens.

Did you say you are working on getting some made, will they be for sale on your website?
@@MatthewNelson-w8p they are in production and will be available on our website soon.
Grease zerk use a piece of 3/16 gas line hold them perfectly. Pick up point use a hook on the clutch lever next to clutch. Love your videos. Was hoping to see y’all today but still out with knee replacement.
@jeffc1519 Great tip Jeff!
Nice! I like to use the old bearing placed atop the new bearing bc I am clumsy. Plus, I work on ships and no one likes to wreck the brand new bearing and meekly explain “we took a roll and ruined the new part. Huh? That was the last of stores?”
@@TheDroppedAnchor Great tip!
This was a fun run through measuring stuff!
Correction: John Deere Cam is flipped at 4.8 inches.
😂 great sign off 👍🏻
My Dad taught me to even turn it clockwise a little bit and also bump the top of the stud with a hammer to looses it up. And also use some penetrating oil. Steel studs and aluminum don’t always come apart easily.
@danielr.johnson7966 Great advice!
Thanks for that knowledge. Will try it out and keep that in mind.
Got my granite block for 250 . Dealer was closing and they never used it . Stihl in the crate 😂
That's awesome!
I would like to see how to check a bed bar for trueness or parallel.
You got it! Keep the ideas coming.
I didn't know how to get this information out to drill doctor users, but this morning your video showed up on my recommended list and I knew this was the answer. Yesterday I used my Drill Doctor 400 to sharpen a few 3/8' bits that I would be using on my next project after I finished the sharping process I tried one out and decided that I should add a split point to the bits, I went back to the Drill Doctor and started the process that requires look down inside the unit for alignment and noticed a red glow on the low down on the left side, looking around I saw nothing that would cause that red glow through the translucent plastic cleanout door, I pick up a scratch Awl and reached into the tray and stirred up the metal powder sharping dust and the chamber broke out to flames, I had a difficult time extinguishing the coals and only doused it when I dump water from my cooling cup into it. I must say that, I have never turned the Drill Doctor upside down to Clean it out but have dumped the little clean-out cup on the side many times. Also, I must say, there have been times when I could smell something burning in my shop but never found the source. It most likely would not burst into flames had I not removed the plastic door but nevertheless this could have been a big problem had it been sitting around combustible material. I JUST WANT TO MAKE EVERYONE AWARE!
@davidschwartz5127 Thanks for sharing!
Great video! I definitely have some reels that are nearing replacement. On that, thoughts on doing a video of a Complete Cutting Unit Rebuild Video? How to properly remove old bearings, setting in new bearings and new reel stock ect. I think many guys out there would find it useful. Ideally a Toro DPA. Keep up the great work!
@jamesgamble222 Thank you! We'll add that video to the list. Keep the ideas coming.
When I started out I used a machinist rule to measure if my reel was coned. I’ve come along way since then.
@jaydotseedot we learn something new every day!
Just purchased one from a longer video I saw that you released. I use “lectra motive” electric parts cleaner for bit cooling when drilling thick metal.
@@Sean-he2ng let us know how you like it.
@@reelturftechsLove it! Spent the good part of the morning sharpening old bits that were saved. Great investment!
@Sean-he2ng love to hear it! I did the same. I sharpened every bit in the box.
How about the type that is split in the center?

@reelturftechs thank you, Do you know any good brands of drill bits? That's not going to break the bank
@tr165eaglebsa4 This set is decent. I do believe you get what you pay for when it comes to drill bits. amzn.to/3W57hSa
I have free handed some amazing points. I find there is a sweet spot at around 15-25°. I've tried 45-60 degrees, and it barely did anything on a thick piece of mild steel. Wood tips and steel tips definitely matter because my almost flat tips attempted to split a 2×4 with a 5/16 bit. I don't quite understand why the flat tip pulls so fast on metal or wood 🤔
@@kevinmaxwell6610 free handed is a fine art!
Wha?
Soooo i need two greens mowers!?😅
Going out in shop and crushing both my drill doctors now! Great video I saw Wes video as well, I have buddies that can sharpen drill bit on grinder with no effort, but I could never get the hang of it . I only buy expensive drill bits because most of it hand drilling with cordless drill and can’t always get straight with it. Been tossing dull bits last 25 yrs because when I send them off to get sharpened expensive and not the same as new. I am going to try one of these, I recently bought a vevor magnet and very happy with it.
Drill doctor sucks.
So how thick was your head 😂🤔
very Nice!!
@haasmengloi Thank you, Haas!
Very nice . I’ll have to see about getting one of these . lol I have a drill doctor too 👎
@@Mechanicturfgear It's a game changer in drill sharping.
@@reelturftechs and we like to go through drill bits in this industry .
You are right about that. I have no idea what happens here on the weekends.
I just found out about this one on Amazon and it's a little cheaper. amzn.to/3ZZaXpr
and it is faster sin ce you can grind coth faces at same time
Just get a SIP grinder then you dont have to go thjru all this extra work
If you having bad enough QOC issues that you need one of these then you shouldn’t be a mechanic.
What a terrible take. A mechanic who uses all available tools to ensure a perfect consistent cut across all the reels in his shop is a good mechanic. A mechanic who lets his ego get in the way and thinks they can "eyeball it" better than a digital gauge is one who is gonna fight their machines and their superintendents a hellova lot more.
For your air tank I seen on TH-cam and did it to mine . Screwed a male and female fitting together and welded to the handle connect your air line and tank line to it . Fill 0- 80 psi in 10 seconds .
I like the idea of using a male and female fitting for quick filling.
😂
i will use a tube for a few weeks
That's a great tip!
Bead seating: an exercise in persistence. Sometimes felt impossible when I first started; had to give up often, and have someone more experienced come over and immediately pop it on like it's nothing. Now we've got a young helper in the shop, and I get to teach him the persistence.
This is a great lesson to learn.
If you have a grease nipple on the end that has to be used I leave it in and bash it up and replace it after or find a bolt that fits it incase the end gets mugged up . I also have a small Anvil to smack it on they don’t have any give😂
Put a small ratchet strap around the tyre in the middle and tighten till it pushes the beads close enough to the rim to be able to seat it with the air once seated then deflate and remove ratchet strap and fill to operating pressure
@samslaughter6613 it always scares me when I do that.
Take the valve stem out , you are not putting enough air in to keep it on the bead.
@@EHale-n9o the Schrader valve was removed.
@ did you put a ratchet strap around the center of the tire to flare it out
@EHale-n9o no because it is very dangerous. If the strap breaks someone is going to get hurt or killed.
@ if the tire blows someone can also get hurt or killed sometimes you have to pick your battles. Good luck!
