I became tired of my 3 door thar petrol AT Hardtop after 3 years and 30000kms. I used to spend around 10000Rupees a month on petrol, to drive 800kms on average. I spent good money upgrading its suspension to AVO, created a tumble foldable rear seat to create space and added various accessories to make it better. Yet, it remained a bumpy car and I became a victim to acute user fatigue. I sold it and immediately bought the Jimny. I simply love its small size, small footprint, compact proportions, space management and good Japanese design. It is exactly right for me, because it is the direct descendant of the beloved Gypsys which I have owned many of. And the Jimny is the perfect modern evolution with all the stuff I want - AC, Power Steering and a proper secure full metal body, along with all the modern safety features. Apart from that its narrowness makes it bang on perfect for our crowded Indian roads, cities and towns and the smaller roads and trails in the countryside. It is a friendly little car and not at all intimidating to other road users, the way the Thar is. That’s another point in its favour along with a consistent fuel efficiency that I am getting - 11 in city and 13-14 on highway. So for me, it is the right choice.

The 1.5 Naturally aspirated engine gives you happy thrills and the vehicle’s inherent narrowness is a boon in city traffic. It is as I said, the perfect Gypsy replacement.
Very honest review by an actual user...... 99% TH-camrs are not automobile experts. .. SUVs are not meant for instant pickup... The Jimny is equally good both in City and Off-road. It's very good in Sands too ( I prefer the Manual Transmission)........One may use in City in the week days and go off-roading in the weekends. It's extremely cost effective, along with the service assurance. No wonder it's a global success. But in India, we need to show off.....
I seriously hope Maruti doesn't discontinue Jimny in the Indian market. This is a gem that people will value in the years to come. I'm planning to buy Jimny sometime in the next year (Hope I'll have enough savings by the end of next year and the car remains in production).
Thank you for this video. More people need to see this. As someone who has driven it a bit I can attest to how amazing of a car it is. The first time I drove it was on my trip earlier this year to my home town which is over 100 kms from the city, consisting of mostly unpaved, rugged, very narrow mountain road. I was blown away by how capable it was in the terrain. I drove it again this past week on another trip home for over 300 kms, this time on a mix of both rugged and smooth paved but very windy road and again it handled both situation quite aptly. Power in my opinion is more than adequate even on steep climbs. Even in the city it is quite pleasant. It felt a little strained when pushing over 100, other than that until 70 - 80 kms it is quite comfortable. Anyone in the market for a capable off-roader and an all round fun car should give Jimny serious consideration.
@@Sadakchaapp it's a kei car , they are nimble and small. The only problem with Jimmy is it's huge turning radius if they fix that it's golden. Its small size and less weight are a boon in many off-road situations. It's also a reliable and have better service conditions so it's a no brainer at least for me.

Jimmy is an ‘optimally’ designed vehicle for the city, the highways and the off roads.. for adventure and daily family use. I have a Thar Di, Duster 4x4 and the Jimny. Jimny is the absolute best for its all purpose practicality, capability and comfort. Now price is also good.. making it value for money. If you need an all purpose vehicle.. and have a mind of your own (not worried about what others think about you by your car).. then Jimny is the perfect choice.
Thar is for those people who want a graceful suit, Jimny is for those people who are looking for a pair of fitting Levi's jeans. Both have their own different virtues.
I have ridden a JIMNY between the fields and canals of Punjab. It is comfortable, smooth to ride, has a good traction with the ground. It is a perfectly good car to drive and a nice off-roader

Bought a jimny last month, i love its compact design, easy to park anywhere, it's a cute little 4x4 which surely can be used everyday. Its small size is not a con but a pro. Nothing to complain!

Most of the people who are criticizing Jimny are the ones who do not own it, every car has Positives and Negatives, and so does Jimny, if we talk realistically Thar Roxx may be an awesome machine, but my pocket does not allow extra almost 10 lakhs for 4*4, and what so ever I am having fun with my Jimny :)
Our Indian customers believe that macho looks with big presence is the main factor for a vehicles success and most of them make fun of a smaller vehicle like Jimny which has more capability and durability and judge the pricing of vehicles based on its size. Agreed it has a powertrain which is underpowered for constant highway use. But the Jimny will still be in proper running condition even after 25 years if maintained well. Really hope Maruthi Suzuki launch the 3 door Jimny even in limited numbers for every model year. The real charm is in the 3 door Jimny with all the capabilities with better ramp break over angle and departure angle. Agreed space is limited for boot with rear seat up but the compact form factor with retro looks of the original 3 door is timeless of a classic retro SUV. Really hope Maruthi launches it in India!!!!!!

But now it's 15.8L and after discounts it's 14L Still I would be choosing Thar ROXX base @16L with no 4×4 The only way Suzuki can win is by New big chassis or add Turbo or 2.0L Toyota hycross engine.

I compared jimny with my Scorpio getaway 4x4. I allways use momentum to get good milage in Scorpio ...but in case of jimny i made the momentum....but it failed to cover the half the distance that Scorpio getaway covered. So i dropped the plane of owning the jimny.. another thing is that i didn't like the 4x4 gear box ratio..so that i can pull heavy load.

Anyone getting a Jimny for about 12 lac on road zeta or 13-14 lacs for alpha i will say buy it. You will never get a 4x4 at this price in the future. For a 3 member family this car can be your only car.
I own both the new Thar and the Jimny. Jimny offers the best 5 door petrol 4x4. No such option in Thar or Thar Roxx. Jimny better finish and fine. And Maruti Suzuki much better than Mahindra.
Once you can swallow the price difference, I think a Thar Roxx wins over in the end. Don't doubt the Jimny is going to be absolutely reliable, and its dealership support is going to be superior.

People rarely do extreme off road . For soft offloading a RWD is sufficient. You will find videos of many automobile TH-camrs doing Off reading with 4*2 . Mahindra THAR 4*2 and Bolero NEO are quite capable. 90 % People buy THAR for टशंन Which is missing in Jimny.

Maruti priced it way beyond what the Jimny could punch. If they revise the entry price at ₹8.99lacs onwards, they still have a fighting chance.

The Jimny has always been small. Pricing, you're right. Also, the Jimny has always been an off roader. That's what they had to bank on

I compared jimny with my Scorpio getaway 4x4. I allways use momentum to get good milage in Scorpio ...but in case of jimny i made the momentum....but it failed to cover the half the distance that Scorpio getaway covered. So i dropped the plane of owning the jimny.. another thing is that i didn't like the 4x4 gear box ratio..so that i can pull heavy load.
Im still rooting for the price cuts on jimny n hoping to buy it under 11 lacs onroad for the alpha mt with few usable practical accessories within price bracket of 11 lacs only

Anyone getting a Jimny for about 12 lac on road zeta or 13-14 lacs for alpha i will say buy it. You will never get a 4x4 at this price in the future. For a 3 member family this car can be your only car.

I own both the new Thar and the Jimny. Jimny offers the best 5 door petrol 4x4. No such option in Thar or Thar Roxx. Jimny better finish and fine. And Maruti Suzuki much better than Mahindra.
Once you can swallow the price difference, I think a Thar Roxx wins over in the end. Don't doubt the Jimny is going to be absolutely reliable, and its dealership support is going to be superior.

Our family has been a loyal Maruti customer for decades. I was one of the first fools to book Jimny at the launching price. I felt absolutely robbed and cheated when Maruti slashed the price by such a huge amount. Not done, Maruti!

I wonder why Indian buyers mixed up off-roader with a family car. They are from two different world. Best affordable off-roader in Indian market is definitely Jimny while we are spoiled with choices for a family car in the market and Thar even doesn’t come close as one. Thar is just a poor-man’s Jeep Rubicon. PERIOD

There are 2 major disappointments.
1) Price is too high even after reduction. Price is not justify what it is offering
2) Road presence is too weak. It looks like a toy on the road while cars like Thar, Endeavour, fortune etc pass by.

While the Jimny excels in its own segment, it's not comparable to the Thar in terms of road presence, build quality, and overall performance. The Thar is a clear winner .

For full loaded price for Thar 4x4, one can buy 1 Jimny and 1 XUV700 FWD/ScoprioN RWD. Thar Roxx is a nonsense product in 4x2 as well. Why would anyone pick it up above XUV700 or Scorpio N ?
