    Hands down one of the most technically informative reviews of the Jimny, even the fanciest and famous journos failed to put all the precise points literally at every second of the video. Brilliant stuff! Thank you for taking all the effort in putting down all the important aspects, especially from Gypsy owner! the last bit of overdrive in the AT variant was a great piece of info!

    Great neutral feedback and review Except the last part of being daily driver, which seems biased because you have booked it and you like it. I dont think this is a daily driver considering the "could be better" points called out.

    The automatic being capable without any glaring niggles is nice. I am assuming this is from the expertise from Jimny being sold for ages overseas.
    The jimny is roomier than people generally perceive it in pictures or videos.
    It seems to be able to seat 4 average people easily and have decent enough room for luggage!

    Yes 5 door Jimny is more practical, but the real charm is in the 3 door Jimny which is available all over the world. People in India should have the option for 3 door variant. There are many enthusiasts all over the country who are wishing for the 3 door variant in both Alpha and Zeta variant.
    Maruthi suzuki should launch it in atleast a 1 : 10 ratio for 3 door and 5 door version respectively.

    • @gsrox2007
      @gsrox2007 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would love the 3 door but I think it would have been too close in price to the 5 door to be attractive.

    • @tijokurian3820
      @tijokurian3820 ปีที่แล้ว

      @gsrox2007 Agreed the price would be very close. But if we just see everything on the basis of utility and practicality, there will be no options for enthusiasts. The 3 door Jimny is much more capable than 5 door in a more compact body shape.

    Truly.... This is by far the Best Video I have watched... in terms of simplicity yet so precise. Informative without being over dramatic. Probably covers most points than anyone else did (some of the others ... they dont even know what they were doing!! Like copying others in an exam) and here comes Mr Guru 🙏 (Like Phungsuk Wangdu from 3 idiots) with original observations... concept clarity... Thank you. This answers all my questions on the Automatic variant that ive book. Be it the tyres... choice of gear box... and most importantly THE "OD" button!!! Cant believe everyone else MISSED that! 😂 thank you Motoroids... Always a Fan... for Motorheads, Motoroids is to videos what Team Bhp is to delicious reading.

    • @gsrox2007
      @gsrox2007 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We are seeing the 5 door being exported. Is there no hope of it showing up there as a commercial vehicle like the 3 door? Pardon my ignorance but does the Jimny fail on the emissions front or is it some other issue?

    • @davidstone921
      @davidstone921 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As far as I understand it, in the U.K. the reason that Suzuki stopped delivering the original, i.e. not commercial, New Jimny to the U.K. was based partly on emissions, but also that they could bring more of their hybrid vehicles into the U.K if they didn't bring the petrol Jimny in. It would be a bit pointless making the LWB a commercial only,- I need the seating space & the luggage space. A sort of scaled-down old-style Defender! When can I order!!?@@gsrox2007

    Very good review. It's a shame Maruti has not bothered to give bottle holders on door panel. How can a Car designer miss this.
    Also ergonomically not much storage space in the cabin.
    Maruti, why do u make cars just to have a product in a segment and not bother about small things but important ones.

    Very good review.. !! It’s a practical vehicle for hilly regions where I come from as the roads are narrow, unpaved, requires partial off-roading, parking in small spaces and also can carry passengers with boot space. Looks may not be great but with some aftermarket fittings, it can be made to look good.

    Since you’ve obviously gone deeper into the technically ‘available’ engineering in the Jimny than most, can you throw an opinion on this - the towing points both front and rear, appear to me (on video at least) the earliest strike points when approaching or departing a gradient steeper than the vehicle is rated for. I mean, they could’ve been easily tucked up further into the body work. Among the many clever touches on this car, it seems to be an inspired invention to me, if they’re anything like the hero tabs on motorcycle rider foot pegs, that ground the earliest while leaning over, giving the rider a fair warning when to back off. Or am I over imagining it?

    • @gsrox2007
      @gsrox2007 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is mostly impossible to get a feel for which part is actually grounding. Having a spotter guide is the best option. My personal approach to solo offroading without a winch is to take the safest, least exciting path from A-B.

    I would like to upgrade to 215/75/R15 AT from the stock tires. Would this cause any difference in the overall performance of the vehicle.
    Also I wanted to know that this being a new vehicle, would the wheel alignment post tire replacement be a difficult job ?

    Also i feel little bit of steering wobbling wen reducing from higher speeds to lower speeds?

    • @gsrox2007
      @gsrox2007 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Viikii! So I opted for 215-75-R15 Goodyear AT Silenttrac. These have extra strong sidewalls for off-road durability. As a result they are less compliant than the stock tires and also heavier. They are very quiet and offer superb grip on the road. Handling has improved because of the stiffer sidewalls. Fuel efficiency has gone down slightly. Hope this helps!

    • @gsrox2007
      @gsrox2007 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The steering wobbling issue happens even with stock tires. I think it is something to do with wheel alignment and balancing. I'll dig into this deeper and see if I can get a positive input on how to solve it.

      Ok so the main cause of the steering wobble is due to braking. The front rotors are warped very easily apparently. This usually starts to show up around 10000 Kms on the Odometer. If it is happening sooner, it could just be alignment and balancing issues. I DON'T have this problem and I did not do alignment after swapping tires. I only performed wheel balancing. I made sure the wheels and tire dot marks were aligned and the wheels went back to the same hub they came off from. Of course I've done rotation two times since then. No wobbling for me.

    I had done a test drive of Jimny alfa AT, steering is very hard to turn. I generally use single hand to drive any kind of car but first time I had to use my both hands just to turn from one lane to another. Why is it so hard?

    • @gsrox2007
      @gsrox2007 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      MRCBT steering is an old school technology but built to be very very tough. It feels completely different from rack and pinion steering systems. Additionally the solid front axle will also feel very different from IFS. The steering is designed to take hard knocks off road, not dance around city streets and parking lots.

    Have had the pleasure of owning 5 Gypsy's over the years, then waiting and Ageing till the Jimny was finally launched in India, then waited another six [6] months after booking being one of the 1st, we were anxiously waiting for the prices. The 7 June price revel left us in SHOCK, to say the least. For a four [4] seat vehicle, but in reality suited for two to have some fun (even the Gypsy had 5 or 8 seats), it is Highly Overpriced by about 2.5 to 3 Lacs. The prices were VERY DISAPPOINTING and Maruti will CRASH its booking numbers for sure. Yes they will sell 10-15k to the Hardcore Gypsy/Jimny fans, then watch how the sales tumble, primarily as people realise the Mileage etc. Comparing the Jimny with the Thar is like Oranges to Apples, so we won't go there. Where Maruti had the opportunity to flood the market in India, seem to have shot themselves in the foot with the pricing. Instead they chose to price it so high that the basic ON ROAD cost for the Zeta MT is going to be about 15.10 to 15.40 Lacs, with the Alpha AT at about 17.50 to 17.80 Lacs, this with an K15-B Engine, NOT the K15-C + many other shortcomings. I hope am proven wrong; but personally feel the Mileage is likely to be 7-9KPL in the City & Hills & 10-13KPL on the Highway at Best. Having said all the above, I still love the Look & Style of the vehicle and like many others have been anxiously waiting for the launch, however I still can't get my head around the "On Road" cost, How & Why the EXORBITANT PRICING Maruti?

    • @gsrox2007
      @gsrox2007 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I refused to drive at those speeds around the hills. These were public roads and we didn't have wide/straight enough roads to reach highway cruising speeds. Considering the same conditions for everyone, it might explain the lack of data on this front.

    • @gsrox2007

      It is almost 5.7m which is a LOT. Closed knuckle ball joint at the front is more durable but results in an increased turning radius. The Jimny does feel much bigger than it actually is when you need to take U-turns.

    • @gautamkurve

      @@gsrox2007 That is the Only reason why I got rid of my Gypsy in1990 , a year after I bought it. That kind of TR ( turning radius) does not suit my requirements. I some times wonder how our Indian Army has been using these 4 x 4 in the Hills . Earlier models had an extremely tedious process of engaging the Front axles. (This is known to the older generation.) Though I always adored my Gypsy, the TR was a disaster at times .
