I remember dreaming about a 16bit sampler when i had an Amiga back in the days… Funny to see that people now buy plugins to go back in time! I wish i had never sold my Amiga 😢
Yea for sure! Everything got a little too clean/robotic and now people want all that old school grit & degradation in the sound. Sad you sold your Amiga 😢. Hope Amigo can be a new friend to help you through the loss 😊

Cheers Dennis! :) Was such a fun video to make. I love the theme - might do everything in 8-bit from now! Amigo is amazing - glad you've gotten into it also. Hope your well mate ✌️😊🚀
Of all the plugins I bought for the last year (and probably longer), this is by far the one I'm most excited about. It just drags me to it. The intuitiveity of the UI, the feeling, the sound. Makes me want to use all the expensive plugins and hardware I have, sample them and drop them into amigo. It sounds so gorgeous and the workflow just clicks with me. I think for the last project I haven't used a single track without it ^^. So good
I agree! I mean the UI is just amazing to work with. It's so simple and easy to navigate - actually makes a huge difference compared to other similar plugins. I've been loving using it for the last week or so ✌️🚀😊
I like that "Interpolation on/off" feature. I had a Cheetah SX16 sampler back in the day and you could get more polyphony by turning off the anti-aliasing filters - it gave a similar "crispy EQ" effect and I started using it to brighten drum samples..
Oh that's dope - i've never heard of the Cheetah SX16 - seems like quite a rare sampler these days. Yea turning the interpolation off really comes through with drums. That bit of bright distortion often adds a nice bit of character, especially when you pitch them down a lot.
@@groovining I bought it for the chord memory, I've always wanted to do the one finger chords like they did back in the day. I was really pleased with the results but at the same time I have to be honest and I can't say I care much about the sample rate hard limitation but this is the first version and I hope they keep updating it.

Thanks for the great review. I started using Amigo this week I love it. Question about mapping. I'm using the Alesis VI49 keyboard controller, but I don't know how to get the samples mapped to the pads on the keyboard. I haven't seen a mapping or midi learn feature on the Amigo UI. Any suggestions?
You don't need to map as Amigo just uses the keyboard notes . i.e C1-C4. You need to find a way to transpose the pads on your keyboard controller to hit the right midi notes.
The track was really just a demo for this project so it kinda just lives in this video :) Decimort is different from Amigo. I did quite a lot of testing. Amigo was a bit cleaner actually with similar sample rates/bit depth. Just had less distortion which but still a nice crunch.
This is a realy great sampler the logical upgrade would be to to have it go up to the Modern sample rates and keep the clasic rates as well ,Tal sampler does that then it could be your ful goto sampler But hey I do luv it its great
Yea I think it's great 2! The new version coming in the next month or so does have increased sample rates which is dope. Akai timestretch, sample start/end modulation. Sample rate reduction, true 8 bit. There is a lot of cross over and Renoise is better for most things with all the tracker FX but Amigo still has value for sure 😊 🚀
I love my hardware samplers ❤️ but this could well have an impact on people thinking about going the Amiga -Octamed/protester route. For £10 and none of the hassle it’s great. 😊 🚀
@@groovining nah the audio is in there too my bad if I didn’t explain well. So far I’m am able to get sound if I go to piano roll but I can’t just press space to run the track in amigo. I’m having difficulty with getting the slices to actually run in play back too
@@andreslugo6660 The track won't run in amigo. You will trigger it via midi from the piano roll & play from FL. Same as the slices - then will go from C2 up the keyboard I think the default is.
Mannnn the first beats I ever made were on a Tracker Program 😂 I think it was called RTtracker maybe? Anyways that program in windows kicked off a lifelong obsession for me. Looking back I had no clue at the time where it would take me
Yea it’s crazy how it all begins like that. Some shitty free/lite version of a daw when your 15 and then years later your still cracking away at it. I love trackers - specifically Renoise these days is the best. 🚀
I like being able to modulate start & end points, I like the sound/sample rate/bit depth colouring. I love the timestretch/phase tools. It’s also so simple the UI is fun to work with. I will use this in combo with Renoise for sure 👌
The vocal is actually from Justin Timberlake tiny desk where I chopped up his performance, pitched and added lots of FX. The speech is AI eleven labs and the pad is the same as 3:12 and is from my sample pack - www.groovingbiz.co.uk/aquaticdreams
I have a Digitakt/Digitone & have used Polyend Tracker in the past. The sequencer in Renoise is a beast by comparison and super creative with all the Tracker FX, Step Automation etc. It also interfaces really well with hardware through midi/midi mapping/ midi macro's controls etc. ✌️
I spent quite a considerable amount of time A Vs B between Decimort 2 and Amigo. I would give it a go yourself. Decimort 2 without doubt introduces more distortion for a similar amount of filtering. I still love Decimort 2 but it’s interesting how clean Amigo sounds. :)
@@groovining I would if there was a demo version. I wonder what pre and post filters the Amiga and Amigo use. When recreating the sound of other old samplers, I often have to change Decimort's filters to match the sound.
@@Lotuz-mk1xv yea it’s interesting for sure. Amigo is using linear interpolation which is nothing special really. The main thing is that the sample rate is not real-time as it’s so CPU intensive. In Decimort it is. The Devs of Amigo think this may be why is so clean. I could match the filtering very closely to Amigo but Decimort 2 always added more noise and distortion to the signal for a similar amount of filtering.
@@grooviningAha! I have tried Renoise though but my first impression was that there was too much going on. It was too overwhelming for me so I stopped. The way it's displayed here, looks nice though.

Photoshop, Midjourney Ai, Premier Pro, After Effects and of course a year at hogwarts 🪄 :) ✌️😊🚀
Are there any features that you don't get from just stock Renoise?
Akai timestretch, sample start/end modulation. Sample rate reduction, true 8 bit. There is a lot of cross over and Renoise is better for most things with all the tracker FX but Amigo still has value for sure 😊 🚀
Could you do a video about plug-in automation in Renoise in the effect command column?
Yea for sure. I know a few people have been asking about this. Am back next week so will get on it then :)
In the meantime I’ve watched a Renoise tutorial and will have a play around, be interesting to see a deeper dive on how you used it with Amigo
It actually works great with Amigo - will see what i can rustle up 😊✌️🚀
cool
Bought this 2 hours ago ...Anyone want to buy some old hardware samplers?
i guess now the prices will drop hard😅
I love my hardware samplers ❤️ but this could well have an impact on people thinking about going the Amiga -Octamed/protester route. For £10 and none of the hassle it’s great. 😊 🚀
Bought this wicked bargain a few days back. Am I right it thinking you can't stretch a loop to the actual DAW tempo?
you do it the old school way :) using pitch and finetune by ear u match the sample to DAW tempo
@@stekker1 cool, thanks for this amazing vst.
@@stekker1 you could time stretch all the loops you want to use beforehand to the same BPM. Then bounce each loop to a WAV and put them into Amigo.
@@forestsunset9617 ofcourse that works too :)
Just got this🔥🔥🔥
It's wicked - great for breaks ✌️🚀😊
how do you get the Amigo sampler to play? It shows up in my VSTs on FL and i can pull the program up but it won't play
You need to drag audio into it. I think you need to look up what a sampler is :)
Yeah I was bugging 😬😂 I didn’t realize the slices would register from q through p on the laptop keyboard. It’s cause I’m not using a MIDI
@@andreslugo6660 Glad you got it sorted 😊✌
can you please do a tutorial on how to install it? Ableton is not reading it somehow :(
You've got to make sure you drag VST3 in VST3 or VST to VST. seems to be the problem most people are having :)
Mannnn the first beats I ever made were on a Tracker Program 😂
I think it was called RTtracker maybe? Anyways that program in windows kicked off a lifelong obsession for me. Looking back I had no clue at the time where it would take me
Yea it’s crazy how it all begins like that. Some shitty free/lite version of a daw when your 15 and then years later your still cracking away at it. I love trackers - specifically Renoise these days is the best. 🚀
@@groovining absolutely. great video man. subbed
Thanks mate - welcome to the channel :) 😊✌️🚀
I'm having massive trouble getting amigo to work on MPC beats, anyone have any ideas???
I haven't used MPC beats much but it should work just the same as any other VST. Does MPC beats let you load software instruments or just FX?
Do you find this vst helpful if you already have renoise?
I like being able to modulate start & end points, I like the sound/sample rate/bit depth colouring. I love the timestretch/phase tools.
It’s also so simple the UI is fun to work with. I will use this in combo with Renoise for sure 👌
what the sample on intro?
The vocal is actually from Justin Timberlake tiny desk where I chopped up his performance, pitched and added lots of FX. The speech is AI eleven labs and the pad is the same as 3:12 and is from my sample pack - www.groovingbiz.co.uk/aquaticdreams
hi whats the old school tracker you are using ? Thanks
Renoise - my channel is largely built around this DAW. It's the best modern day tracker ✌️😊🚀
Thanks for getting back to me , I mostly use a hardware sequencer but this looks right up my street . Thank you
I have a Digitakt/Digitone & have used Polyend Tracker in the past. The sequencer in Renoise is a beast by comparison and super creative with all the Tracker FX, Step Automation etc. It also interfaces really well with hardware through midi/midi mapping/ midi macro's controls etc. ✌️
Do you have the right settings on Decimort 2?
Where can i get the samples?
Jungle jungle blu mar ten free sample pack is a great place to start :)
I need this on Koala!
Yes! 😊
Yo, what program in that on the left at 6:45?
Renoise :) My channel is largely based on making music in that program. It's a old-school style Tracker :)
@@grooviningAha! I have tried Renoise though but my first impression was that there was too much going on. It was too overwhelming for me so I stopped. The way it's displayed here, looks nice though.
@@iShredStreetsIt’s great. It is overwhelming AT FIRST, but I think any DAW is. Once you dive in and accept it for what it is, it rocks hard.
@@ArtersaThanks for the input! I used Fasttracker about 20 years ago. I also have to be honest that I didn't have the patience the time I started up Renoise. Then yesterday I found this VST. Then later I booted up MilkyTracker to see some of my old tracks and I got inspired again. Time to get into Renoise.
Renoise is epic - learning curve is a little tricky for lots of people but if you've already used trackers I'm sure you'll pick it up super fast. I made this series for people getting into the program - th-cam.com/video/Qwfnvs5pIcM/w-d-xo.html
