First off, I’m humbled by the great discussions and the excitement you've all shown for my exploration of the Amigo sampler. The Potenza DSP team has created something truly special!
Regarding the feedback and critiques - I hear you, loud and clear. Here’s where I stand: I've never claimed to have all the answers. Quite the opposite, actually. I often find myself navigating the vast sea of music and technology, learning as I go, guided by what sounds good to my ears.
The beauty of music and technology is that it's a constant learning journey. Even teachers can learn something new every day, becoming better with each lesson learned. So, consider me a student who’s eager to learn from all of you. The sample rate comment was indeed a slip-up, and I apologize for any confusion. Let's keep the conversation going and continue to learn from each other. After all, the history and evolution of music production are as rich and diverse as the tracks we create. Cheers to more learning and experimenting!
Very well said Stranjah! I think you have done an amazing first time handling of this plugin and despite the nay Sayers, you have done well to get across your true first impressions and ended up creating a great sounding track in the process, which is the entire point of using this software! I am glad you are humble enough to admit that there is still room to learn. I think we all need to think this way and we will all be better off in the process. Learn ourselves and then pass this along to teach others. I look forward to all your future videos and anything else you end up doing with this plugin, now that you have likely learned more about! Keep up the great work!
started messing with 'the musics', before i was in highschool in the 90s. so as a lifelong authority on life of unlimited amateur skills out of pure music adoration; I couldn't agree more. Could be an elitist crew with the subject matter but I haven't read down yet... I was a 'junglist' for a year and all my parties were pure jungle crews for about a year back when these styles of tracks started really coming out. I'd say i was a junglist single it'all i listened to for a year mostly intrigue 'wtf do that with a sample?' when all i'd seen was DAW (cooledit, win3.11) Thanks for the dope stream vid., sry Grandpa had'a subscribe:) Much respect!
бро, просто делай что делаешь 💪👍
yo mate I just downloaded you sample pack,,, this sample pack is sick bro! I have been looking for something like this for a long time! as soon as I opened it I knew this was the mother of all jungle packs ! thanks once again I couldn't recommend this pack enough !
There's humbleness in not uploading everything just to do it
thanks for checking out our plugin mate 💕 much love !
Great work mate.. smashed it geez!!
Great job you guys did!
@@STRANJAH glad u liked it 🫡
Whats this like for cpu?
Big ups, it’s really great.
I love the “resurgence” of Jungle & DnB on the Webs . I’m 41 , so the late 90s early 00s Toonami/SegaSaturn/Matrix sounds of my teenage years are ingrained in my brain .
wtf are you talking about lmao
Foregone Destruction and Nether Animal on Unreal Tournament's soundtrack

👌
@@darksharkofficialdamn it seemed pretty clear what he was talking about to me lol

@@symbot_3862 I think when he typed "resurgence" he meant his own resurgence. dnb hasn't gone anywhere and it hasn't gotten any less popular in the past 20 years.. its only grown..
As a 90s raver, i can confirm this sounds legit.
as a 90s amiga producer I can also confirm this. But the timestreching brings the world of akai to the amiga sound. Incredible plugin
The way the Amiga Paula chip worked was to directly play out the sample at the required sample rate to get the required pitch WITHOUT RESAMPLING. So the 4 channels would all be playing out 8-bit audio at different sampling rates, then mixed together in analogue. The chip would be constantly changing its sampling rates for the 4 channels as necessary. This is different to modern PCs where output sampling rate is fixed at 44100Hz (or 48 or 96 or whatever), and all resampling to change pitch and mixing between channels has to occur in software. So the Paula was pretty crude but very effective, and with its own sound. So what they must be doing is simulating the Paula-style variable sample-rates and analogue audio mixing all in software, but preserving the characteristics.
thx for explaining, i know little about hardware gear as I was all software
Yeah you're pretty much spot on. Probably the most important part of the Amiga sound is the fact that you're reading from 8bit PCM in memory at different rates. So this is how Amigo does it, when you change the sample rate, the sample gets filtered, downsampled, quantised to 8 bit, and stored in memory. So its pretty similar to how the Amiga works, without being a 1:1 faithful emulation of the acc hardware.
The Fairlight CMI also used clock speed to pitch samples, though the audio output was higher-fidelity. (Should be, for $10k at the time!)
The S900 and S950 also changed the clocks of the DAC to change pitch.
@@sub-jec-tivdidn't the Linn drum machines and similar work in a similar way?
I can’t believe the low cost of this plugin, it does so much and so easily. I think this is the best plugin I have ever bought.
This is pretty much almost everything I've always wanted FL studios fruity slicer to be able to do and I'm so hyped for this
We truly are in the golden age of emulation. It’s crazy now.
Just one short annotation: The frequency of the sample rate is NOT the maximum frequency that is audible. Relating to Shannon’s Sampling Theoreme you need at least two times the highest frequency that you want to sample as the sampling-rate. For example for CD-quality you need at least 40.000 Hz as sample rate to record 20.000 Hz. (As in the definition of CD-HiFi Quality 20-20.000 Hz)
Anyways: What a nice and powerful sounding plug-in!
I love that even the GUI looks like Protracker from back in the day. Definite purchase for that price.
True I faintly remember protracker. I was an FT2 guy
The UI design actually goes all the way back to the first tracker released (Ultimate Soundtracker).
@@gutterg0dYeah true - damn that was a long time ago!!
I spent many years starring at the Protracker interface :)
I thought it was protracker lmao
Sample rate affects the ringy aliasing sound aka the Nyquist theorem.
Bit rate affects the noise floor.
Too prevent too much aliasing a filter can be added and the sound gets dull, eg filtered and you hear less aliasing.
This plug-in use a bit compression algorithm that was developed to reduce memory need, basically a 12-bit sample was bit-compressed to 8-bit with almost no loss in quality. But it creates this cool crush effect when played back slower then original. The algorithm was called u-law and was used originally in early digital telecom.
Interesting. Airwindows has a plugin called u-law I like to use but I never really know what it did.
This was such a neat and surprise plugin to come onto the market and you did a fantastic job at showing it off. Those oldskool Jungle samples you used from the OG Jungle pack, were a perfect fit, as those were the types of sounds that would have been used back in the day, when 90's Jungle was put together. The Amigo Sampler and those samples were a perfect match. Thanks so much for taking the time to show all this off!
Yeah especially enjoyed using the strings with CHORD MEM on..
@@STRANJAH I agree. Sounded totally authentic and having the single notes of the pads included in that pack, as well as the chords, was a very smart choice, as it allows instances like this to be taken full advantage of and the user can create their own custom chords from the same samples.
I felt like the pads really hit a UT 99 facing worlds type beat... man unreal tournament was ahead of it's time.
lol i was just watching gameplay from facing worlds the other day, what a vibe
Pete Cannon told me about this sometime ago but I only just around to buying it, great plugin. I was an Amiga user back in the day and I had both the Amiga 500 and Amiga 1200. My early DnB releases on my first label New Vision Recordings, where all made with those machines. The Paula chip was indeed the custom audio chip that was found in the Amiga.
Amazing so you know how its supposed to sound
@@STRANJAH The Amiga certainly had a unique sound. It's amazing how much you could do with four channels of mono 8bit samples. As I started building my first studio setup, I eventually had my Amiga 1200 running through a Mackie desk with a Roland JX3P and MC303 connected via midi so that I could have a few more channels. You might remember my Spinechilla tune I posted on here some time ago. It was pretty big in the late nineties because Goldie was playing a test pressing that I gave him. That tune was entirely made with audio from the Amiga and a few layers from the JX3P and MC303. Good times!
It just came out. Though, I'm sure Pete probably knew about it before it was announced/released
@@atetraxx Yeh I guess so as this was back in September at Kniteforce in London. Coco from Dope Ammo mentioned to Pete that I was an Amiga user back in the day and that's how we got into it.
I miss Amiga days. What a blast.
This has been my favourite plugin release this year. Its absolute fire. Nostalgia, sound, GUI, workflow and price. Amazing.
THANKS TO THE CREATORS !!!!!!
THIS IS CRAZY, LET'S RELIEVE THE GOA TRANCE OF THE 90S AMIGOS
Thank You STRAJAH, just what I needed. Definitely with you on the constant learning journey. Thanks for sharing, given me some inspiration. Love your energy and excitement.Love from London.
Holyy this crunches so hard 🤘🏼
thanks for the demo!
definitely buying that
Awesome stuff. Just a little tip but try sticking an LFO or even an envelope follower modulating the parameters rather than hand drawing. You’d get way more varied and tweak-able fluid automations. Plus the lfo shapes will give you different flavours, ramps etc. They will sound fairly complex when you done hardly anything. Record this out into a resample channel then cut it up into 4/8 bar loops and use follow actions. Variations for days, just take out what you want
Neat idea thx
So many plugin developers are doing so good with emulation of old hardware samplers and effects these days. Like SP1200 sampler RX1200 by inphonik, Ensoniq dp4 phaser by Dusty Devices and now emulation of Commadore Amiga.
90s is coming back to music production again with over 30 year old hardwares!

Thanks
Thank you for throwing that down like this. I'm in the 90s again. I'm loving the sound.
yo! being able to automate the time-stretch and the phasy/delay effect and reverse mode is a game changer for very fine manipulation of the breaks!!!
I tried automating the sample rate and Live did not like it though
@@apoplexiamusic the sample rate needs to be recalculated after every change, so that can't be automated. As far as I know, everything else can.
@@ASH-ou4cg indeed! But trusty Redux is always there :)
This thing looks and sounds awesome. Nice work to the development team!
with a samplerate of 4000 Hz the highest frequency is 2000 Hz (played at normal rate). Maybe check out some of that "science behind it"
This is killing. Makes me want to start making jungle again. Takes me back to the old days with the atari st and S950. Bring back the jungle massive! 😄
ez Stranjah, Garry from Tactical Aspect, just watched your vid so thought id buy the vst and give it a spin. Reminds me of certain features from an old PC DAW ive used since the 90s in terms of flexibility of automation for individual splices, love the stretch and loop/pong feature, which is great for pads and twisted stab work, and this program could be great and its down to individual producer to get everything out of it. Nice throwback to working with lofi samples which gives a certain sound to the whole production, currently working on a track just using amigo. Excellent work from all involved who created this, can see myself getting lost splicing and stretching amens for days! Respect mate! 117/dsci4 crew!
I'm in bloody love with this VST.
I needed this for sure. That screen is so me view old school and free skins which are ace Thank you such much to you all.
yeah love the nostalgia
I have an A1200, but having such a plugin would be such a time saver. Sounds pretty much spot on to my ears!
This plugin is amazing and exactly what I've been looking for, for years! Just annoying I've spent quite a lot of money on other plugins and some hardware when this came out and made those redundant!
this is a must have. it's dirt cheap, sounds great and is so easy and fun to use.
yo mate I just downloaded you sample pack,,, this sample pack is sick bro! I have been looking for something like this for a long time! as soon as I opened it I knew this was the mother of all jungle packs ! thanks once again I couldn't recommend this pack enough !
Nice video, I remember doing stuff like this on my atari St With the stereo master, and master sound, was great fun making tunes
As already mentioned, the ability to preview samples would be fantastic.
Pretty Good!! Proper sound right there!
I saw this the other day and thought I see a video from ya about it... Big ups homie!
I just learned about this sampler, today. It sounds crazy! Might cop when I get home from work.
Omg that automatable time stretching is exactly what I've been looking for for quite some time! Gonna get this ASAP.
Tal sampler been able to do automatable stretching for a long time now
Man this is a throwback to the old Atari ST days. So good!!! Love it.
Yeah great rendition, love the sample rate reduction
The more I hear and use this plugin, the more I can't help but hear the distinctive sound of early DJ Red Alert and Mike Slammer tracks, from the early 90's on Slammin' Vinyl. Ganja Man, F*cking Hardcore etc, all have that very recognizable crunch and degradation heard throughout the playing of the tracks and I am now 100% convinced, it is the sound of the Amiga.
That’s a crazy realization to put 2 and 2 together
Bought it! Thanks for the video. Great techniques!
This is interesting. I had an Amiga 1000 and eventually an Amiga 2000HD by Commodore back in the 90's. This is a huge topic, I couldn't get into on a TH-cam comment, for the youngsters reading this. Look ingot the Amiga Sound Trackers, like Pro Tracker. This plugin is what you'd find as the Sample Editor portion of a Tracker, coders and musicians used Trakcers to produce music know as .MOD that were used in productions called Demo's. Look up the Commodore 64 and Amiga Demo Scene which are still active and produce demos.
And it’s available for m chip macs!!! Bagged cant wait to have fun with this its literally what i needed for ableton on mac
this is incredible. I can finally recreate some of the old amiga vibe
This is fire bro!
it like going back to the 90s for me but for the price its worth a go
that was wicked!! 🙌
Cool work bro..best wishes from Vienna ✌️ 🇦🇹
Bought it, it's great! I'd love to be able to automate parameters via midi here, also a filter with resonance wouldn't hurt.
Cool nostalgia vibe. I do like it. I'll deffo get it for that sick timestretching. But New Sonic Arts Vice is the closest thing to recycle in a plugin imo. Has stretch/fade (not timestretch 😢)+ start/end braces per slice (clean slices!). Midi/audio drag and all that. Ain't cheap tho.
Oh this looks fun!
Bought this yesterday. It's so much fun.
YO they killed it..They nailed it man!
Loving the old school vibe. 🍻
This just looks like Reason's Dr. Rex sampler which has been there from v.1.
Dr Rex doesn’t sound like this
Nice, coming from fast tracker 2 and renoise this is nice to use in daw
this is fantastic
Funny you mentioned this trending.... I've had like 3 or 4 of these amiga sampler video suggestions in the last week. Yes, I watched all of them.
"Low poly sampled breaks are so hot right now" - Mugatu. 🤣😎
Yeah its a fun tool
I picked this up recently. Very impressed
Really cool how they did the protracker style interface.
The drum sound you created sounds a lot like "Aphex Twin - Come To Daddy".. i always used fruity slicer for drum and bass loops but amigo sampler is next level!!
Neat plugin. Nice!
The option to audition samples from within the plugin would be a nice touch.
I agree. There is still room for improvement on the QOL enhancements that can be done with this plugin. Great job out of the gates though!
Nah no need. Every daw already has a sample browser. You just drag it in. I love the light weight utility of it.
This plugin looks/sounds sick AF! Definitely nails those old Amiga low bit EQ nuances IMO. Absolutely slays on the Ahmen Breaks. I've personally been after something that would get me close to that "DJ Shadow - Introducing - Building Steam with a Grain of Salt" sliced TF up drum sample ability. That's one of the sickest Boom Bap instrumental tracks of all time IMO!
This thing sounds really good.
Oh hell yeah, this is an instant buy
back to the old days. 16 bit crunch. just bought a copy. time to play
This is a VST. If Renoise can load VST plugins, then it work as is, without rewire.
This is dope!!!!
Yes! I used Impulse Tracker for MSDOS🤓
This is fucking sick, instant buy. Thanks for the video :)
holy, that chord memory thing is sick!!
If it had a function like simplier where you can slice the beat into 16ths or 8ths instead of relying on the threshold it would be perfect, I could probably stop using Phatamatik pro and use this instead, it would be perfect.
off to buy this now. loving the automation ability
automation ability is a game changer
@@STRANJAH absolute. thats the tool im looking for. faster result then in komplete kontrol. sick tool 🔥
the tracker sequencer mixed with modern midi would be cool
you mean renoise?
u should finish this tune. it sounds sick. dope video
Now all we need is a tracker midi sequencer plugin!
Redux ?
Damn, now I went to the website and bought it.
Yo can’t wait to use this
so sick. "lets add whale sounds"
Man this is such a Freestyler sound!
This plugin is wild, holy....
This sounds like an old Casio sampler I had, a long time ago... cool
BANGER............................. so interested in the producer aspect. I'm hearingn what I want, amen breaks ....LFG
tis doing Paula emulation via software - completely different to a bit-crusher plugin.. but it sounds nothing like a real amiga, a lot of the character of the amiga's audio output comes from the analog stage of the audio output circuity.
really awesome plugin! no brainer for that price
Oh can’t wait to try this. Question, is there a similar tool that allows your to do all the automations that you’re doing but without the downgrading in sound quality? I love that sound, don’t get me wrong, but I want to do all the stuff this does with the option to keep my sound quality as is. Maybe a feature for the plugin?
This is something I've been recently thinking about as well. I would love if there was a toggle, that you could set to have the full functionality of the plug-in, but bypassing the quality reduction. I would love to be able to load my samples and have them play back exactly as they originally sound, but still get the slicing, phase and time stretching capabilities intact.
Amazing plugin, nod to the impulse tracker crew 👌,, which sample pack is the amen located, OG or acid labs? Thanks guys! Great job
The Amen sample was from the OG Jungle Pack
Back to old school
Just need an emu emulation now!
RX1200 is a good SP1200 emulator.
emulator x is the vst-stand alone version of the utra samplers
Use hardware… it’s the only way….. check out TC, he’s trying to bring it all back
I stopped producing for ages now, but still come back to your vids, wanna get back into it but have a question, I have used logic x for years but want to move to pc, do you think I will manage okay with the switch to Ableton or do you think I should stick to what I know, thanks you legend ❤️❤️❤️
Best of luck in getting back into it! Ableton is very different than logic. You could certainly learn this new workflow and it would likely be beneficial to you, but if you want something like logic, cubase would be your better bet.
holy shit. this is actually really fuckin good
Its a Jungle Brother!
It works for other musical styles like boom bap or phonk?
Great Sampler btw
Wish i could understand use all this technology, i was a wiz on music on the original PlayStation and later some basic phone apps. Ableton etc i just cant understand, maybe studying music in school wouldve helped a little 😂
Love breakbeat
Hi all! I am very grateful to the creators for such a wonderful plugin and to my favorite music blogger for reviewing it! Does anyone know how to make sure that after closing Ableton, all samples do not disappear but are saved in Amigo sampler? Have lost all music samples and a lot of hours of work(((((((
It really would be so nice to have RX2 support. Drag and drop these files to have automatic and precise handling of splice points. This would save time, in having to manually set the splice points on the drum loops.
It’s £10 and it just came out. But maybe it can be added.
we would have wanted to but rx2 is a proprietary format by reason, we couldn't just easily add this without getting licence for it as there is also no public documentation on how the format data even is stored in the file. but we are looking into this for future update :) fingers crossed
@@stekker1 this is a very fair reason and thanks for taking the time to read and comment. It is really much appreciated and hopefully there can be a workaround in the future, as clearly you can see the benefits of this. Awesome job on all of this, keep up the great work!
