    I can't even begin to explain how awesome this is. It's like you created an entire system of avatar creation except it's just using basic, native blender features. Like as if this is a character creation program outside Blender, but you can still use all the other tools on the same model if you wanted to.

    Working on a game in Unreal and wanted to make my own assets. I've been working on my character movement with a capsule mesh and now that I'm wrapping up that process I thought I'd start learning blender and make my character. This is by far the best tutorial I've come across. It not only shows the steps to make a character, but also provides the knowledge necessary to customize it and really allows you to explode in creativity. Any small details you want to include more than likely can be implemented with this tutorial alone. Subbed!

    For those who had a UV stretching problem on the side of the EYEBROWS like I did, this is caused by the eyebrow plane being solidified.
    The solution I found is as follows:
    To remove the stretch, you need to add seams. Select eyebrows. Go to edit mode, hit 'A' on your keyboard to select all, then hit 'U' and then click mark seam. You will see a red outline on the eyebrows, which shows a seam. Then again hit 'A' on your keyboard to select your whole mesh, then hit 'U' and then click Unwrap. Your stretching will go away.
    This tutorial was awesome. Very easy to follow. Thank you.

    Thanks for the update. The first skin modifier tutorial you made was a game changer. I am really looking forward to some character tutorials, especially if you get into some sculpting after skin-mod (there's been a lot of beginner-level box modelling character creation tuts going around and it's getting a little repetitive).
    Question: Why do you do the shading with the palette? What is your opposition to making separate materials?

    • @JoeyCarlino
      @JoeyCarlino  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use multiple materials all the time, I mainly use the palette for when I just want to change the color, it's good for making things fast. If you don't want entire faces to be a solid color, the using the palette isn't the best option

    So for anyone else that had this weird problem that I had, if by chance you see this, I might be able to fix this for you.
    I had this weird error by the point of trying to move my armature that the poses would work ALMOST perfectly, but for some reason certain bits would be left behind. Specifically if I tried to move the arms, it was like it would leave two dimensional shreds of my mesh behind while moving everything else perfectly.
    After I milled around for a bit trying to find a solution to this problem, I eventually just tried this, and it worked.
    1. Select your mesh again
    2. Shift select your armature again
    3. Parent with automatic weights again
    For whatever reason, that made it to where I no longer experienced the issue. I don't know what it did, but now everything works normally, so I'm not complaining. I figured I should share that information just in case anyone else had this problem.
    Good luck with your projects everyone!

    Honestly, I was about to give up all hope on blender because a lot of tutorials lack in depth teachings. Blender Guru was the only person I was able to neatly follow along with and make something, but honestly, this was amazing. I was just wanna let you know that your teachings are so clear and it really seems like you don't skip any steps. Thank you so much for this!
