Would love a longer tutorial. Made my first model a few days ago but I had problems with uv unwraping etc. and I really like your artstyle so it would be very cool if you made a longer one!
Agreed. He makes it look so easy haha, I want to get to that point and would love if he broke down in more detail how he does each step. I hope someday to get to this point.
Longer tutorials are always good for more detail but this sized video really helps people like me who just wants to see a sort of order of operations Thank you and hope to see more!
still a bit too advanced for me but it's nice knowing and seeing how the process would eventually look like once i mastered some things i still need to work on.
As much as others say this is way too fast. I love it. Just seeing the workflow and being intermediate in blender. I’m gonna take most of this video and use it for my next characters. Thank you so much. This showing is better than 80 percent of tutorials
Do you think you could make a tutorial about animation right after that ? That's the part I struggle the most, espically with putting it on the rig and use it in Unity
I am one to rarely ask for a longer video because most are just filled with fluff nowadays, I love me a grade A short video like this one, but yes I too would also like another short video on unwrapping and perhaps painting. You motivated me today sir.
I love this style of tutorial, great for people with a foundation already. I have a question, on characters that you have modular parts, would you just make a sperate model and attach them together in engine? For example, the frogs skirt, if you wanted to have different options.
Thanks! Yes you could do that, but if you need the mesh to be weight painted to the bones, you can just separate the mesh in edit mode (Y then P) and then the mesh will still be parented to the rig and you can disable/enable the mesh in unity. Hopefully that makes sense :)
extremely helpful!! I had watched some tutorials when I was younger and knew how to do it on paper, but I had completely forgotten the names, looks, and order of things. thank you SO MUCH the simplifying actually helped a lot!
I know im late to the party but this video was a good overview of things to look forward to. Some good references here and i just want to say more in depth videos would be sweet.
Can you do a tutorial for low poly characters please? I want to know if you have any tips or tricks for low poly specifically. Also I am struggling and this video helped my understanding a lot Great Video!
Finally a relevant tutorial I can finish during a 15 minute break at work. Thanks for the guide, just one question, how do I export uv maps and texture maps from blender to use in a photo-editing app? I currently use Procreate on my iPad because my Wacom broke recently so I can’t paint directly on blender atm.
shouldn't you be careful with sub division for a character as it brings Alot of face count??? I have a character and if I was to add subdiv it would look good with more shape but it brings the count up alot?
This is a tutorial for folks who already have a grasp of the basics. Revisit this video when you have a few months of experience, as its a very useful workflow. 👍
Hey DomDev great tutorial I love your character is it on sale or free for download if yes please share link, if not please share game to were we can play with it
I honestly wish this was just a tad slower. Everyone seems to just blow through stuff like this in less than 10 minutes, and it's too much info to try and process for a beginner. The character does look dope asf though, and you're hella talented.
One would think that "how to" implies that it's a guide or a tutorial. Unfortunately he speeds through everything. If you REALLY want to try to learn from this, I suggest going to the video settings and setting the playback speed to .5 or less.
@@Movman82 Yeah, but if I make a video of "how I drive" and proceed to not explain anything before zooming off at 100mph, you can bet people would ask for a break down of what just happened. Making a video of "how I do x" implies you are going to explain how you do x, otherwise its pretty worthless.
How do you make it to where you can work on the mirrored side when using the mirror modifier? I've been trying to figure this out all day.. I read it's ctrl-J but that does nothing.
This video is way too fast for us to truly follow. You have some good points but it doesn't really help if the video is in a time-lapse. just my two cents
When all is done how do I export the model? Can I just export it as fbx and select what I need or do I need to do something with the textures and nodes, first?
This reminds me of that picture where it's like Step 1: draw a circle, Step 2: draw another circle, Step 3: finished... The in between bit is missing, or in this case, sped up that fast you have no clue where to start.
bro this is by far one of the worst tutorials I've watched on blender, like ever. But its kind of funny in a way lol... so keep up the hard work brother. You dont rlly explain what the whole atlas map verticie thingy on the left side of the screen is, or how to access it and what not, what even is it?
This is great and all, but not in any way a helpful how-to. Great video, bad tutorial. It seems like you've gone into detail about everything but what I wanted to know! Would be cool to see a more detailed breakdown someday.
There are like 4 or 5 steps in the beginning that I think should be slowed down and expanded on. Like you cut the square in half, how did you do that? why did you do that? Then you say "In the modifier tab" where is that? Things are just clicked through super fast that this should be labeled an intermediate tutorial if that is what you are going for.
Do the Blender Guru free course for begginers, once you done that look, for these more advanced tutorials, you have to first understand well how blender works.

This character's style speaks to me.
Amazing short tutorial ! Learning more here in 3 minutes than on massive long tutorials
Do you think you could make a tutorial about animation right after that ? That's the part I struggle the most, espically with putting it on the rig and use it in Unity
This was excellent, there are so many long format tutorials I needed something like this to show a fast step by step as a summary
Exacly what i needed! thank you so much for this amazing tutorial that made me suck a bit less in 3d modeling.
Amazing!! I am starting to create my first game, and this is exactly what i need!!! tks man!!
Thank you this was perfecr with my adhd it was the perfect pace

I enjoyed this overview, it's nice to see other people's methods.
Also this character model is so freaking cool!
Love this! You make it look so easy. But i know hours of patients and practice went into getting this good! Fantastic video

so little yet I learned so much
Hope you decide to make a more detailed video would love to see it
I am making my character in 3D and I'm trying 2 different technics : sculpting and the one you are doing.
Why skip the rest of the rigging process 😢 . Weight painting is hard and automatic weights doesn't always provide the best results
I wouldn't call it a tutorial, but it's definitely a nice process vid
I would happily pay you for a course on this

how did you make the eyes? I guss thay are not a diffrent mesh
Mate, do a loonger tutor. So many information, we need a more details about each other!!
Excellent! Super-helpful.
Thanks for the tutorial it definitely helped!
Very helpful. Thanks ☺ I'm not sure I've got the patience for the amount of detail required though 😞
Glad it was helpful!

SO COOL!
How many triangles did were used for this lil guy?
Did u use shade smooth or just use sudivision surface, sir ?
Idk much about character modeling(yet) but how do you get the mirrored side to be real geometry?
By applying the mirror modifier :)
Liked and subscribed!
What would best way to make models like classic wow character models, the polycount and textures?

hi how you add the eye ? and you say you put the subdivision modifier at 2 but after your character is completely smooth , how you do that ?
Right click the model in object mode when you’re done modeling and click shade smooth
can you make a in depth tutorial about making character?
nice. but my brain isnt braining

How did u make his skirt and wraps move alongside with the body? Mine just falls off when i move the frog
this is way too fast. like waaaay too fast to get some knowledge out of it or replicate what you did.

For real lol 😂
He didn't say this was a tutorial, he said he'd show how he did it.
Play it at 1/4 speed....

i can make the model no problem but i cant texture paint at all. never been good at shading

ty!
Do you model right "out of your head" or using some reference image?
A bit of imagination with some reference images usually :) especially because I wanted the frog to have quite a humanoid shape.
This video is way too fast for us to truly follow. You have some good points but it doesn't really help if the video is in a time-lapse.
just my two cents
You can watch it at half speed then
When all is done how do I export the model? Can I just export it as fbx and select what I need or do I need to do something with the textures and nodes, first?
Yes you can just export as fbx :) Nodes only affect the render/view in blender
I heard texture...that was it lol
App name?????????
Blender
okay, but how 😭😭
