    but the northerners, or just norse if you don't have much time, are exploring.
    they go north, from the north to the northern north.
    and they find some land.
    two types of land.
    and they name them accordingly.

    Probably not going to be seen, but this channel is amazing! I'm a backpacker (over 8 months altogether), geography/econ major studying abroad in my 3rd country and I want to say that this is GOLD for me. Your country reports are great, cinematography on point, and content is perfect for me to nerd out to. I'll be starting a online following for geography and travel soon, and this is my inspiration as of now. Keep producing good work, please!

    I noticed that Jason puts his head under the water in the hot spring. I did the same and it's a bad idea. You need to continuously dip your head in the hot spring again or your hair will start freezing. Just keep the rest of your body submerged.

    Bjarki's accent sounds like the English accent 300 years ago

    • @bjarkiorarson3546
      @bjarkiorarson3546 7 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Haha! I don't know exactly what you mean, but... thanks??? Yeah that's me in the video actually. Of course I'm not a native English speaker, but I work as a tour guide so I very often mix different accents together, unintentionally of course. I think you might be referring to how I pronounced the 'r' in American, right? :D

    • @Ronakvevo
      @Ronakvevo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Old English was a mix of Dutch and Icelandic and you do sound a bit British so that's how i thought old English sounded. Btw how do you pronounce your last name?

    • @bjarkiorarson3546
      @bjarkiorarson3546 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Na sort of, but yeah I looked at it again, and yeah I do sound British XD I thinks that's because when we went to the bridge it had literally been 15 minutes since I picked them up from the airport and still "adjusting" to their American English haha. My last name is pronounced something like "Thor-thar-sohn", and you have to roll the 'r' like in Spanish ;)

    • @Ronakvevo
      @Ronakvevo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha I have no idea how you sounded British watching it now. You accent is just like anyone from northern Europe lol.

    Iceland is a trap for tourists - If you go to a hot spring it's too hot to stay there very long, but outside is too cold to go either, so that's why some tourists have never returned from there ;D

You're truly an inspiration to me.. and I can only hope one day I will not live vicarious through your videos; however through my own vision and see the beauty of the world, not the censored version we're fed. hakarl is actually something that many Icelanders and Danish Colonist could eat because it would last a really long time and it was very cheap to get. At one point in Iceland's history, Hakarl was twice as cheap as cloths, tea, alcohol, and other meats! But seeing how Icelanders today are among the highest paid people on earth, the rotten shark is mostly eaten as a cultural/ ceremonial thing XD

      They do. However, it is not very common. Usually when they come here, they are malnourished and can be quite aggressive, or they are extremely old and are about to die. If they come near towns they are shot, otherwise, people try to tranquilize them and return them to Greenland.

This edition (ICELAND) was very special , beautifully captured on video! I really enjoyed it. And I’ll tell u why. When I was 19 years old - I lived in Iceland. Everybody thought I was crazy. My mom thought I was crazy. It is (along with Japan) the most dear beautiful place on planet earth. I’m now 43 years old. Took the rest of the world to catch up. But Ìsland is so special . Keep up the good work ...

    I went to Iceland last January. It was definitely the coolest country I have visited. One thing that many people don't talk about though, is that it is so horribly expensive. We didn't eat put at all. We bought our own groceries and make our own food in our airbnbs, but even then, the food at the grocery stores were sometimes 3x what I would spend in Canada. We ate nothing but bread, cheese, and carrots for a few days. I would definitely suggest going there, but make sure you can afford it, and maybe bring some dried foods from your own country to help you get by.

    Hi Barby, my name is Santos (10 yrs. old) and I am your high school Spanish teacher's son (you may remember her as Srta. Landis) and I just wanted to tell you that me and my family are traveling to Iceland this summer! I absolutely LOVE your videos and the cinematography is outstanding! I have been watching our videos since about 1 year ago and I LOVE THEM!( most recently the Geography Go Iceland and Greenland) Even though you made this video about 5 years ago I still love it and of course am already subscribed to your channel. I wish to meet you in person someday! (Srta. Landis said you were one of her favorite students and always made her laugh! She is also really proud of you for learning French as well (as she has been learning French herself). 1 final note, I have seen your friend Ásgeir's videos and I believe that he probably could be Iceland's mascot!
    Keep up the outstanding work and hope to hear your reply soon!
    Best wishes, Santos

    15 years ago, it would have taken a full camera crew, 10s of thousands in camera equipment and outrageous cost. Technology is super impressive, not diminishing anyone's skills or kmowledge Im just amazed. Love this channel.

    Driving around Iceland is the best thing to do. The blue lagoon is also great to be in when its in the 37 degrees cold

    I really liked several of the drone shots and the editing. Nice job. I like where you went and how you chose to present it. It looked like it was a lot of work. How long were you in Iceland for?

    5:54 It's called a rift or spreading zone. Actually, it's part of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The Salton Sea and Gulf of California back in our neck of the woods (I'm from San Diego) are kinda the same and the opposite at the same time; a piece of oceanic crust partially raised above sea level and splitting apart between the North American and Pacific Plates.

    You should visit downtown Colorado springs, Colorado. It's a beatiful city that meets mostly all your criteria. It's relatively cheap and that' including all the souvenirs you will most likely buy. If you go, be sure to check out the acacia park. And if you have the time check out the savory spice shop. I grew up most my childhood here and that is why I love it so much. I now live in Wichita, Kansas but do visit sometimes. I greatly recommend downtown Colorado springs, Colorado.

    What I find really awesome about the Icelandic language, is that because I speak Dutch I sometimes, in the middle of all this complete gibberish, suddenly can understand an entire sentence or a few words and I'm like "wat".
    there's a Netflix series in Icelandic, it's called Trapped. really good

I am folowing your channel for quite some time now but I never wrote a comment (like not ever on any channel) but this video was really awesome. Some great filming, especially the drone shots! But maybe it is just because Icelands landscape is just mindblowing. So probs to you and big probs to Iceland!

    Oh god I know all these places by heart... Looks super cool in the winter though, you were so lucky to have good weather and snow at the same time. The drone pictures and videos look amazing too. However, for someone who likes doing the "non touristy" stuff, you definitely did all the the biggest tourist attractions in Iceland! :D
