Excellent video and tips. Been to Iceland twice and I have two tips: - Bring rain pants; Definitely need them when visiting some waterfalls or Jokulsarlon. - You can buy a wifi module for your rental car and you’ll never have to pay for roaming charges. You can also take the WiFi with you on hikes and still be connected.
@@edwinbab3205 Yes, of course you can rent a car, but it will take you longer than 6 days to drive the Ring Road. I was able to do it in 9 days. I rented from Blue Car Rental. It's an Iceland based car rental so there isn't any issues with the cars. Make sure you buy insurance, just in case. I would drive to Jokulsarlon and points in between in the south and then drive back and do the Golden Circle and maybe the Snaefellness peninsula. Have fun and enjoy Iceland.
@@edwinbab3205 You need to create your vacation yourself. Do some research. I would not sleep in a car or sleeping bag. There are hotels, hostels and b&bs everywhere. Look up the attractions and create your own trip.
I've been twice - both times cruised from my home port Liverpool. Even as a single traveller, it worked out a good deal as there were 4 ports of call in Iceland allowing for lots of sightseeing. Obviously all food & entertainment were included too & the drinks on board were reasonably priced.
That sounds interesting, maybe 😅. How long was the cruise? Was it: Liverpool - 4 port in Iceland - back to Liverpool? Was the boat nice? As in nice things to do: swimming pool, sauna, gym..?
@@anaisgrigri1345 The cruise was 11 nights. Called at Torshavn, Faroes on the outward journey, 4 ports of call in Iceland then Belfast en route back to Liverpool. Bog standard cruise ship - outdoor swimming pool no use on a cruise to Iceland. Unfortunately, an appalling experience at Torshavn. Faroese still hunt whales. They decided to go on a hunt while the ship was in harbour. Rounded up & slaughtered 78 whales & dolphins in full sight of the cruise ship. The cruise line weren't to know that would happen but they're still including that port of call in their itineraries & no way would I travel with them despite all their statements condemning the practice. Ambassador Cruises - a company with no integrity. At all.
@@gjones9409 Enjoy! Do hope it's not with Ambassador - that last cruise with them put me off cruising forever. So much so, I cancelled a Cunard cruise from Barcelona to Istanbul booked for Sept 24. Lost my deposit but I can live with that.
I would like you to create "packing list" for Iceland in December! I don't want to regret not to have something! Please! I've already purchased your Travel Guide, but did not find anything about "what to bring".
Amazing how we went to Iceland about eight years ago before it was overrun and we had no “tips” on how to act or what to do. We had a very successful and enjoyable trip with nothing we would have changed. The world now relays on you tube to know what to do. All these tips on all these videos is mostly common sense. Now everybody needs guidance!

Ah this video came too late! We're just finishing up our iceland trip right now. The west fjords was the best addition to our trip and dynjandi waterfall was the best waterfall we went to in 12 days of touring! We didn't find the crowds too bad artist from struggling with parking in some spots but it was incredibly noticeable once you went past the touristy spots and we would hardly pass anyone on the roads! The volcano erupted the day we arrived and was closed most of the time. It's currently open to hiking but the only safe route is 20km each way.

I really want to see the Aurora Borealis. I'm planning on going in January, right after New Year's. Has anyone been during that timeframe? What about driving in winter there?
I took a quick look at the observed temperature/weather history in April of the past few years, and it can still be anything from -10 to +15 Celsius in April in the two cities I looked at which were Reykjavik and Akureyri. For the most part it seems to stay between the +0C to +10C range, though every April there was a span of a few days when it stayed below freezing & a few days when it stayed between +10C and +15C. I haven't been to Iceland yet, but probably safe to say, with the windchill and everything, that packing enough warm clothes is most likely for the better, even in April. :p
we are taking a last minute trip to Iceland this December. Do you know where winter solstice celebrations might be taking place? Also, is it safe to drive in the winter? We would just be doing the southern area, seems northern area roads will be closed.
Super informative! However, I cannot believe you confused these two iconic female groups- Destiny’s Child were kids when TLC created their number one song Waterfalls.

From what I've heard most of the rural roads are closed during that part of winter. You should research what will be open
Hi, planning to go on April. Do you think by that time still cold there in Iceland or will be a bit warm already?
I took a quick look at the observed temperature/weather history in April of the past few years, and it can still be anything from -10 to +15 Celsius in April in the two cities I looked at which were Reykjavik and Akureyri. I've been twice in July. It was cold. Maybe the country should be called 'Windland' - seems to be very windy which brings the temps down even further,
V v nice

When is the best time to go ? Warmest ? Thx
Depends on what type of activities you’re interested in. Summer months are warmest, but you should always prepare for cold, even in Summer.
Peak season is July and August. September is a bit better with less crowds and still not super cold
Thx - September means everyone is back in school & less crowds - a win - win situation
