  • A look at the recent additions to my Seiko dress watch collection. A beautiful 44GS and a rough but original 62GS.

Fascinating. Thank you. I've just bought an GS SBGP001, so was very interested to see the 44GS heritage.

I have the 4522 7000 and 8000 and the 6146 8000. I have two 35 jewels seikomatic with similar case design as the 62gs, one in ss and the other gf. They have the same hands and indices, and with additional day function. They have a crown on the back case, other than usual dolphin. Very nice watches.

I love my King Seiko Hi beat automatic from 1972. I don't get why more people aren't searching for old GS and King Seiko watches. Awesome watches! My Hi Beat gains a second a day when warn and has a power reserve of around 35 hours.

I have a 4520-8000 from September 1968. My most accurate watch. No quartz in my house.

Hello there, I greatly enjoyed this video, and I was looking for the video's you were discussing in which you'd be restoring the 62GS. Specially the glass captures my interest. I currently own a 1971 Lord Matic from the Daini factory, and due to the monocoque construction of the case, the glasses seem difficult to replace. I was wondering how you replaced it if you finally did, where you sourced the watch from or if these can be hand-crafted to fit the watch.

Hi Matt. Thanks for your comment. Sorry to take so long getting more content onto the channel. I will have a new set of videos up in the coming days as the restoration of the 62GS proceeds.

Where is a reliable place to get these serviced. I have a seiko grand seiko 45228010. I love it to death and it works fine, but it would be great to know. I’m in the US.

Hi Michael. In the US I would recommend getting in touch with Spencer Klein at Klein Vintage Watches. To deal with these older Seiko pieces you really need someone who loves what they are doing and Spencer definitely does. He has a channel here on TH-cam where he uploads videos of customer repairs. Just do a google search and you will find him. Hope this helps.
