Gentlemen- First Thank you for such great videos. I thoroughly enjoy them. Second, I found the reasons why they call the Casio Duro a Duro... It's a reference to the two mines where Casio procures its quartz crystals from. Duros come from the Duro mine, Marlins from the Marlin mine.
I’m pretty impressed with the Herbelin. Not cheap at $900, but not a bad option, especially since I haven’t quite saved up the scratch for a Cartier yet.
Hi guys, for the A. Lange I would go with the Tissot Courturie, Rotary does make a reverso clone (at least they used to) that does reverse to show a second watch.
Forget the invicata daytona homage. Parnis do one with sapphire, Seiko Meccaquartz movement, screwdown pushers and a top-notch bracelet. Picked mine up for sixty quid.
The SPINNAKER FLEUSS AUTOMATIC OXBLOOD RED is the watch that I like the most here. The new Casio Duro now unfortunately is made without the swordfish on the dial and on the back. Which robs it of a special feature.
Seiko has alternatives for most of the watches mentioned here. For instance, SBTR021 for Speedmaster/Daytona, SNZH55 for Blancpain, SKX033 for the Submariner (minus the green bezel), and SNXJ for the Datejust.
Seiko is quickly moving into "overpriced" for their features. Seikos entire claim to fame and grandeur was their cost effectiveness. 800$ for an skx is not it. The cheapest Seiko mechanical diver is 270$, features a mineral glass crystal, the same cheap mass produced malaysian made nh-35, hollow end links, horrible case finishing, resilient and beautiful painted aluminum bezel insert that is about as durable as a couple sheets of foil, and of course... features the god awful "5" logo 😂. Its getting more and more difficult to recommend seiko with a straight face. The watches you mentioned are fine, not ragging on them. The SBTR is definitely a good shout 👌
For the JLC reverso the vario versa I saw from Just One More Watch was a true reversing quartz watch and many people in the comments seemed to love it for somewhere in the 4-500 dollar (usd) range.
May daily is a Pagani white dial blakc bezel Daytona. I can't actually read the subdials to save my life. Such a lovely look and comfort, though. And Megaquartz. Paid €55 or so, shipped.
That was fun. I actually have that Lorus "Monaco" and I do quite like it. No NATO strap, but I put a perforated leather strap on it which makes it look quite sporty.
Rolex looks are so old that all Seikos Timexes, Tudors etc etc have re-issueed them in industrial quantities, so everyone got truly tired even looking at them.
The Invicta Speedway is clearly a great homage, even in the name : the circuit the Daytona is named after is the "Daytona International Speedway". Nice little detail !
I recently dipped into the murky waters of Chinese watchmaking ordered a Boderry explorer knock off but skeletonized and a Suggess H Moser Funky Blue chronograph homage with Glasshute numerals which I was really looking forward to seeing but doesn’t look like it’s actually going to ship and I’ll have to chargeback the payment
You could have saved a lot more by taking the 'homage' route more often. For example: Steeldive SD1953 @ £60(ish) as a "Sub" alternative, Pagani Design PD1701 @ £70(ish) as a Speedmaster alternative, Pagani Design PD1644 @ £40(ish) as a "Daytona" alternative - all depending on sellers and whether there's a sale in progress. Love them or loathe them they do tend to have decent specs and Seiko movements...
Don't get me wrong, I like that Invicta Speedway, but I think the better choice for a Daytona alternative is the Pagani Design version. As far as I know that Invicta has a regular ticking seconds hand, making the tachymeter useless. The Pagani homage on the other hand has a Seiko Mechaquartz chrono movement. We can argue about build quality, and yes I know Chinese watch QC, blah blah blah, but it's really hard to go wrong considering the Pagani's sub $100 price point. You could do far worse!
👍😘07:29 Louis Erard’s “Regulator” model gets my vote! It’s not so much an homage to the ALS as its own design. 13:10 Thanks for introducing me to Geckota! Beautiful pieces.
As Alternative for IWC Big Pilot, Why not Laco Stuttgart Pro, yes its 850 EUR but it's one of the german 5 who produced them back then. You actually get some history there for a very fair price.
and if you can accept 42 instead of 44 mm Diameter, you can even go for the Augsburg 42 which comes for only 340 €. Stuttgart Pro costs 1050,- € in 43 mm btw. Went with an Augsburg 39 as I love everything related to historic aircraft though didn't wanted to spend much money and really like it a lot.
Rather than using a Louis Erard Regulator as a replacement for A Lange & Sohne their are other alternative "Regulator" watches. The Chronoswiss Regulator is worth consideration and today I picked up an Alpina Alpiner Regulator for GBP 597 and am very happy with it. Who needs A Lange & Sohne !!! 😀😀😀
I'm really curious which ones they'll do, since they had said the prior colors were limited edition and wouldn't come back. I was lucky I wanted black anyway. @@ge48421
I shall attempt to answer your age old question good sir. Duro in Italian means hard (yes I know), resistant, resilient. That's probably the reason why this Casio is called Duro.
The "Watchfinder" cannot find watches anymore I assume. Showing google pictures in their video was one of the most laziest thing they would've done by far and recommending an overpriced quartz Fossil is the most unenthusiastic thing by any watch enthusiast.
Out of all watches.. the trash is piling up. How about digging deep into the Tag back catalog, caliber 6 , caliber 5. And maybe some Seiko watches that haven’t been brought up 1000 times. Or maybe why are longines watches so underrated and so cool.
Fossil watches shouldn't be anywhere near this channel, a friend of mine was going to buy one for around £150, I showed him a similar Accurist for £60 and the rest is history.
Your American accent was spot on. You guys owe me a beer since I sprayed mine all over my computer...:P
You're only meant to spray on your computer while watching Archie's adventures in Bangkok 🤣
I’ll suggest the Timex Q chronograph over the Invicta as a cheap Daytona alternative
Agreed
I like that one. The Swatch Night Flight has caught my eye recently as a less expensive alternative. It's Swiss and not a knock-off like the Invicta.
I miss the talking hands
Haha. I was just thinking that!
And amazing capture of detail on watches
Me two I didn’t sign up to see his face 😂😂😂😂 it takes away some of the mystique😂😂😂😂😂.
Nico told him to reveal himself. Sadly he's in thrall to that gobshite!
@@trethatdudeand the really nice music.

Thank you! Nice to know. 😁
I didn't Know That? I appreciate the Info?
I miss the microphone avatars. Made it so much fun to watch
Vario has made a Reverso homage that actually has 2 dials / movements, and actually does flip around! Pretty neat one from them
I miss the b-roll, memes, and microphones. It made the verbal comedy land better
The Pagani Design PD 1701 is a much better cheap replacement for the Omega speed master.
I prefer my Speedmaster.
Agreed, I have one, Seiko movement too.
A lot of these recommendations were pretty terrible.
Pass. PD is a straight up rip-off, not something styled after originals.
@@johninNJyeah, but it's $55.
The Fossil thingy was not a Chronograph. It was a watch with calender function :)
It’s like the Mandolorian when he took his mask off, just wasn’t the same. Bring back taking hands and the guest mics. So original.
I’m pretty impressed with the Herbelin. Not cheap at $900, but not a bad option, especially since I haven’t quite saved up the scratch for a Cartier yet.
Herbelin are pretty decent for the price and yeah not cheap, but a recognised brand in my opinion.
Hi guys, for the A. Lange I would go with the Tissot Courturie, Rotary does make a reverso clone (at least they used to) that does reverse to show a second watch.

Pagani as well.

Congrats for the milli and thank you for the content

I'll suggest the Lobinni micro-rotor for the AL&S and the Vario Versa for the Reverso
You guys really missed the mark on the Speedmaster. The Fossil Bannon isn't even a chronograph.
That was fun. I actually have that Lorus "Monaco" and I do quite like it. No NATO strap, but I put a perforated leather strap on it which makes it look quite sporty.
I love it when Tom speaks American!
If you're going to feature an Invicta, you might as well use Pagani Design... at least the Pagani has decent specifications
..and a better price point. My PD1644 was £33 incl.shipping and taxes. Ridiculously cheap for such a well specced watch..
Rolex looks are so old that all Seikos Timexes, Tudors etc etc have re-issueed them in industrial quantities, so everyone got truly tired even looking at them.
I’d take a pagani design over that invicta
What the--- I was fine with all the Seiko's and Casio's because those are killer... But Invicta? Stop. Just Stop.
Invicta is good for the price.
You don't have to buy one, you know.
The steinheart is actually wonderful
Vario Versa is a line of reversible square shaped watch for $400 I believe.
That Invicta looks *horrible* - I know this is cheapest, but surely you could get a much nicer Seiko Daytonalike and not feel too much out of pocket.
I love Tom's American accent
The Invicta Speedway is clearly a great homage, even in the name : the circuit the Daytona is named after is the "Daytona International Speedway". Nice little detail !
.How are you supposed to read the minutes subdial on that Lorus? Practically it's only a 60 second chronograph.
If you really desire a particular watch you’ll realise soon enough there isn’t an ‘alternative’ at all. Been there done it.
Thank you for posting this helpful video
I recently dipped into the murky waters of Chinese watchmaking ordered a Boderry explorer knock off but skeletonized and a Suggess H Moser Funky Blue chronograph homage with Glasshute numerals which I was really looking forward to seeing but doesn’t look like it’s actually going to ship and I’ll have to chargeback the payment
I found a patek nautilus alternative
In India the watch is sold by lee cooper and is priced ₹15k

I am an Invicta guy but I just bought the Paganni Paul Newman And Regular Daytona Homages and they knocked my socks off!
I would have picked the Laco Aachen as a cheaper alternative to the IWC.
That fossil is… not a chrono in the photo you are showing.
The Seiko SRPE lineup seems to be very similar to the Tudor Black Bay 36.
The fossil watch u compared with omega speedmaster isn’t a chronograph 😑
What happened to this channel? where are the high quality videos we're used to watch and love?
IKR! The podcast format should be in a different channel.
You missed the Bel Canto vs MBandF. Also the laureato vs the 12
I think the subtext here is Nothing beats the real thing none of the alternatives are in the same league
That Louis Erard regulator is a real looker 🔥🔥🔥
A cheaper also swiss alternative is for the Lange 1 is the Hamilton Regulator.
Glad to see you didn’t just go with the MoonSwatch for the Speedy alternative 😂 or the SwatchXBlancpain for the Fifty Fathoms.
Well a 80$ pagani design makes the MoonSwatch look like the cheap and trash toy that it is.
👍😘07:29 Louis Erard’s “Regulator” model gets my vote!
It’s not so much an homage to the ALS as its own design.
13:10 Thanks for introducing me to Geckota! Beautiful pieces.
Was hoping to see some 70s Zenith alternatives in here.
The casio duro is named like that because “duro” means “hard” in italian
It was fun to watch. 🎉
That Presage is very nice

Interesting you chose a Fossil for the Speedy surrogate.
there actually is a rotary „reverso“ you can flip over…
Pagani Design makes a much better Daytona homage for a lot less than that Invicta. Sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, stainless case, $60ish USD.
i became a professional watch smasher today
The Fossil watch appears not to be a chronograph.
Points for Tom for using the term "switcharoo".
Pagani, San Martin - all better than crappy Invicta, and with sapphire, Automatic movement, proper homage watches.
The Seiko and Orient are brilliant
Man, I love my Duros. Just think how many I could buy for the price of one Submariner.
Me thinks I'd need an extra room built..🤔😍
Alternate Reverso: Vario Versa. I own one and it's absolutely amazing.
Yes, they're reissuing some color versions sometime soon, I'm waiting for those.
I'm really curious which ones they'll do, since they had said the prior colors were limited edition and wouldn't come back. I was lucky I wanted black anyway. @@ge48421
"How to get immediate engagement 101 - watch edition" -> throwing a daytona next to an invicta haha
Love that lorus....need ..... that Spinnaker is awesome i own the same one❤
Who else noticed the strap part having holes at the top of seiko
A better alternative to the Lange One would be the Tissot Couturier with an actual offset dial, separate seconds dial, and date.
Duro - something that is solid, hard, and not easy to break. Maybe 🤔?
You two had me laughing hysterically! Well done!
I shall attempt to answer your age old question good sir. Duro in Italian means hard (yes I know), resistant, resilient. That's probably the reason why this Casio is called Duro.
Please, thrash that Stührling. The Casio Edifice EF-527D-1AVEF is a head above that one.
I like talking faces, Tom is funny
I’m thinking of getting an AliExpress Daytona, but can’t decide between Pagani and Parnis. Anyone?
I had the Casio Duro green, but careful, the green is not very nice, more like a pale green, I sold it due to this :(
Casio mrw 200 stainless steel as submariner and resin looks like a luminox
Bring back the talking hands! 👍✌️
Tom's American accent...😂😂
Wasn't it great!
[ but Invicta!!!... ]
I love Your style, irony and healthy comparisons, but Invicta (: Oh my, oh my (;
the Fossil Chrono reminds me more of a Tag Heuer rather than Speedy….
And it's not even a chrono. The subdials are date and 24 hour complications. It doesn't even have a tachymeter bezel.
The "Watchfinder" cannot find watches anymore I assume. Showing google pictures in their video was one of the most laziest thing they would've done by far and recommending an overpriced quartz Fossil is the most unenthusiastic thing by any watch enthusiast.
you guys left out the obvious Vacheron 222-> Tissot PRX gold
Ah yes my price ranges 🙌
Oh Come on ? the perfect alternative to that Green Rolex is the SteelDive, not the Duro!
That gechota is fantastic haha
I think Pagani does a better 'Faketona'
Laco pilot watch is a better IWC alternative...it was also one of the 4 complanies making fliegers during ww2 with IWC.. They cost like $500
Out of all watches.. the trash is piling up. How about digging deep into the Tag back catalog, caliber 6 , caliber 5. And maybe some Seiko watches that haven’t been brought up 1000 times. Or maybe why are longines watches so underrated and so cool.
“Duro” means “Tough”, BTW
You can always go for Chinese photocopiers machines...they been pumping up those hot cakes for a long time in aliexpress 😅

Goes to show there is a style of watch for everyone, and at very affordable price points. Even Bill Gates owns and wears a Casio dive watch!
Duro is Japanese for Marlin.
Bulova Sutton for the Cartier Tank...sorta.
duro in portuguese means tough, hard
Wasn’t Lorus a Doctor Seuss character?
