The Yema Superman Worldtime GMT Coke maxi dial is an absolute banger. Vintage look, perfect size (offered in both 39 and 41mm), in-house movement, pretty affordable and manufactured by a legendary watch maker who's also the supplier of the French Marine Nationale.
My list.. 1. Tudor GMT Pepsi ( a cop out I know 😄) 2. Seiko flighty 3. Bulova lunar pilot (I have one and it's the only choice) 4. Oris Pro pilot big crown 5. Panzera aquamarine A-45 Top video.. more of these definitely 👏🏻
This was a landslide 5-0 win for Andrew. The Yema was the closest that Tom got to beating Andrew but could not. The rest were all Andrew's, especially the Sinn and the Bulova. These 2 were the most obvious budget alternatives to the Breitling Navitimer and Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch respectively.
As someone who has used a Navitimer in the air… Tom definitely won it. The citizen is a hot mess but at least the bezel can be moved easily. That sinn bezel is useless in the air unless you’re wearing it on your right wrist.
Pretty funny discussion, I particularly liked the comment about the navitimer not being busy enough, and the "our story" webpage. This was pretty even in my opinion - Tom for the first two, Andrew for third and fourth, and the last I personally wouldn't pick either but they both bore some resemblance to the icon.
The Sinn Navitimer, compare to pre-B01 Breitling offerings, is actually a better watch IMO. For a period Sinn produced the Navitimer with Lemania 1873 and a transparent case back, which is a beauty.
Oh YES Yema is such a strong shout! All of these watches were fantastic choices! I tended to side a bit more with Andrew 😜 BUT TOM YOU ARE GORGEOUS AND FABULOUS
I reckon this match was a draw for me. Tom and Andrew each picked three watches I would happily add to my collection (Tom: Yema, Citizen, and Seiko; Andrew: Sinn, Bulova, and Stowa), and Tom won rounds 1 and 3, while Andrew won rounds 2 and 4. The 5th round... well, I don't really care much for Panerai, so I care even less about watches that- erm... homage the look? But I will say that Seconda looks like a 60 pound watch, while that Precista also looks like a 60 pound watch but costs 755!?! For that reason, and mentioning the Avi-8 -- hate their name, but quite like their designs -- I suppose Tom just edges out a win if I had to pick one winner.
I don't care who wins, I'm just here for the fun. I love seeing watches I didn't know about, reviewing others I already did, and especially your comments on them. The best (and funniest) content I've ever watched. Don't stop producing these videos, please!
Same as me love the Steinhart GMT did I listen price 1.6k ? US Or Euros shame on me German made I’m in Europe plus love that army green , those Sinn watches are awesome don’t own this model got others 105UTC , U50 , 356 and 104 awesome watches well built and great time keepers now Sinn have raise the prices a lot 😡 Yema superman Sorry guys would not recommend them!!! All best rather buy a Sinn or the Steinhart I know it’s an homage … but this army green is awesome 🙌
I mean Stowa and Laco have true history pieces, quality is amazing even in the entry level models. But if i cannot afford IWC and wanting something cheaper, modern instead i would go for Longines spirit 100% one of best watches that came out in recent years.
As a big pilot owner I did own a laco before to see if that was my thing and sure enough it was. Good on you Andrew to go with one of the original pilot watch manufacturers
Tom's Yema and Citizen picks are brilliant, but the only watch on this list that I would consider purchasing/wearing is the Sinn. Therefore, I deem this competition a tie.
All options are close to the inspirations. However, for the Panerai alternative, I'd gone for a spinnaker hull. Specifically the california dial. Such an underrated gem!
I got to try on a Bulova Lunar Pilot last month at Wind-up Watch Fair here in Chicago. After seeing many a vlogger refer to it as too big and clunky, I had mostly written it off, but it turns out it fits and feels way less bulky than I thought. I still can't bring myself to pull the trigger because $400+ for a Bulova is $400+ that could go toward a "real" Moonwatch in a year or two...
Some good choices all round. But for pure nostalgia I’m giving this to Tom who picked out a sekonda. When I was at school I had a sekonda from Argos and it was great. Followed by a Lorus.
Hated that Yema with the bezel lock and that awful lug to lug they should have made the bigger girth instead of length. Tom had this one for me. I loved that green GMT hopefully they make that in a dive watch. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
What great fun! My pick for the Navitimer would be the Hamilton Khaki Aviation Converter Auto GMT. It really looks quite Breitling-esque, in a good way.
The Lunar Pilot is just like the one that went to the Moon. All they changed for the reissue was the size, the shape, the layout of the dials, the font, and made it quartz rather than automatic. But apart from that it's identical...
I'm a big fan of these videos. I enjoy your repartee, and I'm discovering some new companies worth checking out, as I'm a new member of the Watch Addicts Community, and am working with a budget that does not accommodate anything close to a Rolex.
Love the Yema, I would buy one if it had white lume. The Omega racing.....is a budget alternative as is the Lunar Pilot to the speedy, or the Pogue? Or the Sinn 140, you aint trying. Hilariously that Sekonda's quite pretty...
I enjoyed this comparison across segments and price ranges. It gave me a bigger picture of watches and brands to explore. There is something to admire in all these selections.
Missed a trick with the stowa. You can get it without badge and it looks so much cleaner and more traditional. Love the double dial with hours inside the minutes. That would have been my pick. Cheaper too.
Allow me to win this contest: Rolex GMT Master ii --> Oris Aquis GMT (preferably Whale Shark LE) Breitling Navitimer --> Hamilton Khaki Aviation Converter Omega Speedmaster --> Bulova Lunar Pilot, have to agree with Andrew on that it's the clear winner (Bulova Chronograph C if you want more flare) IWC Big Pilot --> Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Panerai Luminor --> Bell & Ross BR01 / BR03
In 1968 I bought a brand new Breitling Navitimer for £57.50. A couple of bezels and a few services later I sold it. No regrets. It was my daily driver and was replaced by something more suitable. Stayed away from mechanicals until 2 weeks ago when I bought an IWC MkXX. Lovely watch.
Honestly Im only giving round 3 to Andrew at best a draw in round 5. For the Bulova Moon Watch its also worth mentioning that the quartz movement is actually based on the Accutron where it's not as accurate as a full fledged Accutron but it's still pretty close. Should you guys decide to find a Lange 1 cheap alternative I think the Ulysse Nardin San Marco GMT is a great option at used prices!
Having looked at Sinn models more closely these days i can appreciate their 903 Navitimer even more. Sinn becoming more and more appreciated doesnt make their waitiing lists shorter ;D
Good fun! Please, do one of these on tri-compax chronographs that DO NOT WASTE DIAL SPACE with that idiotic “spelunker” dial…….the phenomenally useless 24 hour dial. For crying out loud, open the curtains…….is it dark? Then the hour thingy that points to 10 means 22:00. See? Not so bad! Sheeeeeeeeese.. …..smh…….
I enjoy these shows very much. I kind of liked the AVI-8 and just may have a look. I also liked the story behind the Sinn 903. I knew Breitling went through some really bad times, but did not know they sold off the rights to their Navitimer, but when you're bankrupt I suppose that is just part of the deal. During a bad health issue I sold off my 3 most expensive pieces and took a beating, but that is for another time and thread. I liked that AVI-8, but I'm repeating................................Good show, gentleman.
I'll have to go with Tom's picks. I absolutely hate Navihawk and AVI-8 but the rest of the pics are solid. Andrew did a great job with Sinn and Stowa. so 3 vs 2. Tom wins
The best bargain alternative to the Navitimer is, by miles, the Seiko SN411 "Flightmaster" busy yet readable and good looking, 42 mm yet wearable as a 40, perfect lugs for nato/slip through straps, , fullproof with the 200 m WR, just lacking a saphire cristal maybe.
I'm not sure about the last one but I feel like Andrew here gave some classic "watch nerd" alternatives, whatever he mentioned were my first or second choice too haha. Quite like the humor on Tom's side as well, if I were to give some criticism I'd say he might want to look at the brand and not only at the watch itself lel
Two more for you. Alternative for the Navitimer 1332412 Seiko SNA411. Same size, same face. 250USD. Alternative to the Speedmaster 300 Pro - Seiko SKA371 - skeleton hands, extra pusher on the top. About 250USD (pre-owned).
I am disappointed. You were looking for alternative for moonwatch and you ommited a Poljot! Caliber 3133, upgraded Venus chronograph, probably a first watch ever in open space, wore by Alexei Leonov. There are debates about brand he wore, it was either Raketa or Poljot but caliber was for sure 3133. It is the most used watch in soviet space program. First Czechoslovak in space wore it. Best episode ever. Finally you guys mentioned Citizen, but again Andrew did it better, i wish he chose Farer Stanhope for Panerai alternative 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 the thing about Yema is there's so much negativity in the watch forums about their customer service and the quality of the movement but they're french so they should be unreliable.
I’ve wanted a Sinn 903 for years but trying to find one new or pre owned is a pain and on top of that they are $700 more expensive than before Covid-19
Can you do a video on entry level gold watches or gold options? Preferably sporty, I have been looking at 36 tudor bb with the gold bezel but tissot makes the gentlemen powermatic watch with a 14k bezel at 1/3 the price. Any suggestions?
@@valengreymoon5623 That I was a little worried about.. but!..I recon I can live with it! lol.. I REALLY want to get Myself one of them.. the H.A.Q side of it too really intrigues Me too..

I can't give it to Tom this time, my vote is Andrew; not Toms fault but Yema is misleading us as it says worldtime and IT ISN'T, it's just a GMT. Prospex are just getting too expensive these days imho regardless of how much I do enjoy my 3 Seikos (all prospex). And I do own both suggested replacements for Navitimer and only one of them can be a travel companion everywhere u go, without being robbed! Personally, I solved the IWC Big Pilot problem with a Sinn 556 and An Oris Big Pointer Propilot. Another viable option to solve Pilot as well as moonwatch is Sinn Flieger or if one loves moonwatch Type II with Sinn 144. However Sinn prices are also getting too high.
I know it's a bit bigger, but why not the Bulova Lunar pilot. Yes it's quartz but very affordable. Snob away if you want...plus one(sort of simlar) was..nevermind. you just said it. Nice job
The Navihawk is a great watch when it's set up and running. BUT WOE to anyone trying to set this watch (daylight savings time, etc...), it requires a PHd in Horology or a trip to the Citizen Watch Shoppe.
We know you want more watches…. click here: linktr.ee/watchfinder
“I’ve always thought the Navitimer dial was a little too clean” - classic 😂😂
That shit was funny
For the IWC alternative I would pick Laco. Has the same heritage of IWC/Stowa, but only cost about 300 quid for an Aachen auto.

1. Tudor GMT Pepsi ( a cop out I know 😄)

Agreed! I love their banter, always has me laughing
For sure. None of the watches really tickled my fancy but the banter made it thoroughly enjoyable.
The Sinn Navitimer, compare to pre-B01 Breitling offerings, is actually a better watch IMO. For a period Sinn produced the Navitimer with Lemania 1873 and a transparent case back, which is a beauty.
Agreed. Plus, the inner rotating bezel allows for a very precise use while also improving massively on the Navitimer's weak spot: water resistance.
Next to Stowa for a alternative for the IWC is also the German original brand Laco. Look there as well! They offer a lot for around 1000 as well.
