The BEST part: the tip on installing the undermount sink. The superb job with epoxy. Really nice narration.

You immortalize any bugs!? They look great man, well done!
We are about to do counters at the lake house, but with total boat epoxy and in a beige marble look.
Crazy enough, no! Haha and literally like 3 small specs of dust throughout all the pieces. I was pretty amazed
I had a little lizard crawl across mine and got stuck halfway through. Lol
@@scottweinbrecht2143 oh no I live in Florida This could be a big problem! Just saw the green lizard just yesterday!
I had a giant moth in my bar when I woke up the next day. I'm upset with myself for trying to take it out.
Looks amazing.
Thank you!!
Awesome job my friend!!
Superb. !! Absolutely stunning job 👍
Thanks for watching!!
It's so cool to watch you work! I really enjoyed the innovative solutions :)

OMG!! John, I wish you could build some things for my home...you are the bomb sir ❣️🙌🏾
Haha thank you!!
Absolutly Grate work
Thank you!
LOOKS GREAT !
Amazing
Thanks!!
Excellent video! So glad I clicked on this one. I'm remodeling my house and wanted marble countertops but can't afford real marble. I had seen the stone coat stuff, but always saw it over existing laminate, but mine is similar to the video of being just TOO far gone. I thought I didn't have an option for stone coat anymore, the idea of creating a new base never occurred to me. The countertops came out looking fantastic in your video!
Absolutely! And MDF is pretty cheap so it just made sense to start new!
That looks awsome...a better camera would deffinetly help you show off your work better but even like that looks great love it 🔥
Fan-fucking-tastic job man!! Looks sweet!! I’ve never heard of epoxy countertops, saw your vid in my feed and I said “ok, let’s see how this goes.” Boy I’m glad I learned a little bit on this topic. Thanks for the vid. Great job with those solutions you came up with!!
That was amazing! I like the colors too.
Thank you!!
In the countertop forever.
Wow. Nice work!
Thanks!! 🙌🏼
It's amazing job 👌👌
Thank you!
Light covers as well for like light switches and outlets.
Very cool to see someone do this who isn’t part of Stone Coat. I am getting ready to order and do my own project.
Nice!!!
🙌🏼🙌🏼
Badass
I can’t wait to try this myself. I’ve watched several stone coat videos and really want to give it a go, I’m nervous about messing it up haha
I was too haha just give it a try, it’s no big deal!
You did the epoxy better than the company that you bought it from! Amazing job
Haha thanks! 👍🏽
Agree looks better and u torched it 3x lookz even better and clear
Absolutely beautiful! I love how seamless the connection between the different pieces is! 👏🏻 Perfect!
They have the ultimate top coat that dries to a matte finish and it much more durable. That's if you ever need to touch up or want to lose the shine.
Yea I probably would if it was my house!
I'm curious what it feels like, and what it's like to care for it. Is it like caring for Formica countertops or more like granite?
Id compare the feel to a freshly buffed car haha. You can clean em with basically anything. Definitely more durable than Formica. And the great thing about epoxy is, if they get scratched, you can just buff it out unlike other countertops
Hi you did a great job and made something challenging look easy! I wondered how wear resistnt epoxy is? Cheers and thankyou for posting your work!
Now I want to make an epoxy counter top or end table
It’s a cool process man!
I can make beautiful white countertops doing this method!
Beautiful job! I plan to do my countertops the same way, but I have been watching Legari Products. Not familiar wirh this brand. I'd love to know how he likes his countertops 2 years later and how well they have held up.
Very very small scratches if you get close and look, but other than that they’re still great!
I love the attention to detail and the pride you take in your work.
Thank you!!
What an amazing job. I've never seen that epoxy product, certainly not here in the UK.
So pretty!!
Thanks!! 🙌🏼
Wow!!!!!
🙌🏼🙌🏼
Hey john, great video, really liked your attention to detail. “Your video” has me considering this for a particularly difficult kitchen top that needs doing. This top is everywhere from 25.5” - 27.75” in width due to the wavy walls and way off square corners, (352 year old house). My main concern is how the product holds up. Would like to hear your feedback now that some time has passed. Any regrets or things you wish you did differently? How’s the scratch situation?
Thanks a lot
I was just there a couple weeks ago and they’re still looking great. Honestly have exceeded my expectations 👍🏽 as far as scratches theres nothing major at all, just like tiny swirl scratches just like you get on most stone countertops if you look closely
how is it today? after more than a year? i'm thinking about doin it, but i'm scared of its durability
great video btw it was very complete
👍🏼🤩super
You mentioned at @10:21 that you did a flood coat. What and where was that flood coat purchased? If in the same kit, is it different from that Part A & Part B that you mixed in the beginning of the video?
Same epoxy, just no pigment
I wish I had seen this video last week. You could of saved me endless hours of watching SCC videos. I love the speed, and detail of you videos. You seriously covered every question I had researched. Well done.
Awesome!! Thanks for watching 👍🏽
Wow that is damn better than me
How is the epoxy holding up? I guess it would be hard to tell is it’s yellowing because it’s black. But would you use the materials again? It does look badass. Just wondering if I did white marble, would it turn yellow from UV rays coming through the kitchen windows. 🤔
Ceiling fans as well. Might need a stronger motor and never know.
I was so interested in watching you work it was a little disappointing that the video ended!
Haha thank you!!
I much prefer watching John work than actually starting and working on any project myself!
I can sit and watch you do this all day! Really wish you could help me remodel my house 😫 because you do an amazing OUTSTANDING job 👏🏾
Thank you!!
@@JohnBuildsIt
Me too! What town and city are you!?
Why do you have to scuff it and pour the clear coat at the end? Is it a necessary step or is there a reason for doing that? Good job by the way.
The first layer isn’t perfect, from playing around with it. The second coat you can just pour and walk away and it levels out like glass
@@JohnBuildsIt ok and you always have to scuff before aplying another coat?
Correct 👍🏽
Is there a type of epoxy out there that doesn’t show every single fingerprint on it?
Wow you did a very good job! How thick is your mdf?? Will it hold for long?
Did you install that backsplash? If so, where was it purchased? Thanks for the great video.
Home Depot
Thanks.
How do you avoid getting air bubbles? I poured my first layer and had a ton of air bubbles which I then sanded out before pouring my flood coat but I also got air bubbles in that coat as well. Do you think I should do another flood coat and if so what should I do to avoid bubbles? Thank you
Just using the torch several times takes out the air bubbles
So how does this system hold up after several years ?
First time doing it, time will tell👍🏽
I have a question, what kind of wood do you use for that project?
This is mdf
How much would this cost for 60 sq ft kitchen? Please
I work with epoxy as well if your going to do anymore projects with it please wear nitrile gloves and where are proper respirator mask . Allergies that develop from it are not pleasant including swollen esophagus and eye. Also lung cancer . Just one crafter/house project worker looking out for another. Loved the countertops though.
I was wearing gloves most the time, and this epoxy is 100% zero VOC👍🏽thanks for watching!
@@JohnBuildsIt just did mine and this epoxy is awesome. After using others for small projects its amazing this epoxy doesn't smell at all
Wat r some gud epoxy products
@@estheriyilw6890 After using Stone Coat Countertops epoxy its all I use. They make sever kinds depending on what you want to use it for
I need a tutorial for this,it's so interesting.
Such a great video to showcase the whole process. Quick and descriptive. 👌
Thanks for watching!!
I love the video brilliant work. I want to learn and get stuck into it. I have expox and going to try it out on a table first.
Where are you located?
What were the measurements of the MDF boards and what type of MDF board was it?
does it scratch?
How does it hold up to scratching and did you need a special top coat? You did a great job with them, thanks for sharing.
It’s held up great so far. Easy to buff out if needed in the future too
Doesn’t mdf swell when it gets wet?
Yep!
You did an awesome job. I love how it came out. I try to order some product from Stone Coat Countertops but they don’t deliver so I place an order with EPOXY COUNTERTOPS
How did your countertops turn out?
Trim for the inside of your homes.
The silicone you used for the sink stuck to the flex seal ok?
As far as I know. It stuck to the epoxy around the outer edge. It’s held up by clips that came with the sink too, just a little hard to show that haha
How much epoxy do I need per sq.ft
Amazing and beautiful job. Your videos are always detailed. Your brother-in-law is lucky to have you.
Thank you!!
Make molds out of the exoskeleton of your consoles and pour your epoxy into those molds and then you have new cases for your consoles.
3:55 why did I think that was mayo
Ive used the same system in our kitchen. We did a white "marble" look over out dated granite. With the white the gloss isnt nearly as bad but Ive been looking into putting a layer of their Ultimate Top Coat. The stuff seems even more indestructible and its a matte finish.
That’s what I’ve heard as well! We’ll see how it holds up and may recommend it down the road
@@JohnBuildsIt yea looks like it can a “future” application and doesn’t need to cure for nearly as long and also no troweling. Goes on in much thinner layers so less messy also
The gun case might be a little bit too far and weak but structurally but you never know.
Maybe even to replace the plastic for your smart TV that holds it all together the cover itself.
Different metals like from a factory instead of metals that you win or that are awarded to you as well like metal artwork.
Super interesting and great work technique. Fantastic results. Thanks for sharing!
