  • Hot Shot's Secret explains more about diesel gelling and how to quickly and effectively treat fuel to prevent the issue from occurring. Diesel Winter Anti-Gel is a diesel fuel additive to prevent gelling as well as improve winter operability by added cetane to improve firing and a winter dispersant to prevent fuel line freeze-ups.
Diesel fuel contains wax naturally in fuel. As the temperatures begin to drop, the wax can start to form in large clusters and stop fuel from flowing to your engine this is known as gelling.

That's when adding HEAT or a water remover comes in handy. Diesel and ethenol based gasoline's will absorb water. I always use a bottle of HEAT for every tank and never had water issues. Summer time, meh, not a big deal. Winter time, yeah it's a huge deal!

I use gas too. Then again, I'm not running a diesel engine either. My multi-fuel prefers diesel, but oil and gas mixed works too. When we had subzero temperatures, I ran 20 gallons of waste motor oil, 15 gallons of premium gas, 15 gallons of diesel and my truck ran like a champ. Only thing that works better is jet fuel, also known as JP-5. Mixed with oil, it's better than diesel by a long shot other than it tends to stink and doesn't have that good burnt diesel odor.
