I have owned this watch for 11 years and it has seen over 500 scuba dives. It has never had a problem. The crystal does scratch while my older/30yr Citizen with a sapphire crystal does not have a scratch. This watch is my favorite watch - no battery, no winding, and perfect time. I am am going to keep it as my dive watch and planning to buy another Citizen for daily wear and occassional dives, the Eco-Drive BN0150-28E. I like the looks of this new watch better, I only wish it had a sapphire crystal.
Yep it's very durable. Mines sitting right next to me now. I've smacked it on shelves and scraped it on things at work accidentally and thought it was done for. Not only is it not damaged, but there isn't even a scuff on it yet. Bomb proof.
I've this watch for five years, it's a solid time keeper at consistent +1 sec every 3 days. Second hand hits indices exactly, no variation. I use mostly for sailing swimming, put it away for winter and it's still ticking in spring. Crown is hard to get at but will therefore never be knocked off. Citizen Shannon Ireland will change crystal and service in timely fashion and at reasonable cost but you won't need that for 20 years.
I have this exact watch and I can honestly say there’s nothing bad about it, it keeps perfect time, and very robust! Mine I brought for £71.60 brand new!
I have owned one for 10+ years. Great time keeping. Crystal scratches easily and band does not like chlorine. Rear case engraving may bother your wrist.
I bought 3 days ago. It’s fantastic. Only 84gr. Eco-drive. See like 40mm. Very quality. Monosoque and 300m. Super luminova. Ann value for money. Only 160€. Best beater for every day.
Great review. I purchased this watch and can't wait for it to arrive. I really wanted an Automatic and was eye balling the Seiko SRP series, but I love the accuracy and reliability of this thing. I also have small wrists so this watch should fit nicely.
Thanks for the response. Just got one to replace my Seiko 007 (winder no longer wishes to screw in and was always a poor time keeper), its taken sometime to get used to the size, but like it now for the size. The fact it never needs a battery or will require a service sold it to me.
Yeah it gets about 90% of the way there, lol. I am OCD too, but I just decided not to care for the price of the watch. It's super accurate and very durable, just not the finish quality of a high end watch.
How scratch resistant is it? The only thing holding me Back is that is not sapphire i was gonna get a skx007 but it keeps bad time i heard and i want something plain and simple and this does it right it looks durable but im worried that its not sapphire
+eddy pozo I've scraped it on metal shelves at work many times and thought, there goes my watch! Then I look down and it still looks like new. Very surprised actually. I wouldn't worry about it.
Eh, the deepest diving watch ever made the Rolex Deepsea has been to the Challenger Deep, the deepest point of the Mariana's Trench with no problems, and it has a sapphire crystal. So does the Sea Dweller, whole Submariner series as well as the Omega dive watches etc. Most Swiss dive watches do for that matter. It's more of a cost thing. They'll make the crystal thicker and domed sometimes to help resist pressure forces, but it holds up just fine. Sapphire is less prone to scratching though.
+Iván Meneses Mineral I think. I've scraped it on sheet metal shelves several times and though ooh, there goes my crystal. I look down and nope, still looks like new. It's very durable even though not sapphire.
Is it? Wow, I was just talking about the watch last night, and I have it on right now. I've been wearing it every day for years, and it looks like new. Kind of amazing.
I am not a diver but I do destroy watches. It has taken me seven years to smash the winder of one of these watches so I have just purchased a second one for all the above reasons.
This watch has a serious design fault - crown screw in will cause problems after little use and Citizen after sales stink.... Avoid. It is not a pro piece of kit

this is the best divers watch I've owned. it never misses a beat and I've spent all day on the ocean and it just keeps going.

good review I have the same watch and I love it

I have had this watch for a few years, Great Watch, Love it. I replaced the rubber band with a nylon strap band that I prefer.
I have to say Citizen make excellent watches !

finally a review and not just a 60 second 3D look! Great! Thank you Sir!
Thank you! Yeah, I hate those short clips too.

Can you sell to me

I also like the solid back, one less entry point for water.
In 2009 the Royal Navy ordered 850.
Thanks! Yeah I like it. Not the most comfortable band, but I wear it everyday and it hasn't been too much of a problem. It's very robust.

I have a Victorinox chronograph with a sapphire crystal and I'm loving it so far!
Is it possible to do modifications on the watch like replacing it with a new movement? Thanks.
I got this one too, I dive 400m and still working.
It's on the smaller side for a dive watch but I wouldn't call it a ladies. It's still almost the biggest watch I own.
the second hand is missing the seconds markers, it's slightly off. That would drive me nuts.
Yeah it gets about 90% of the way there, lol. I am OCD too, but I just decided not to care for the price of the watch. It's super accurate and very durable, just not the finish quality of a high end watch.
Anyone know how to open these to replace the battery?

Does the bezel have very slight movement up and down?
Yes, in all directions actually. Very slight.

Great review! You can take off those God awful "limit numbers" on the band with rubbing alcohol instead of replacing the band.
Damn it why is this discontinued???
Is it? Wow, I was just talking about the watch last night, and I have it on right now. I've been wearing it every day for years, and it looks like new. Kind of amazing.
Clint the Audio Guy that’s a great watch. Can’t find it anywhere! Seems it’s long discontinued
Nice watch.
Nice!
I have this watch my dad gave it to me

Yeah, it seems pretty bomb-proof so far. I don't expect it failing soon and I wear it every day.
wrist watch, wrong watch
It's not to expensive
