Haha thanks brother. Really wanted a big bass this day. Whenever I don’t join a big bass side pot, or one doesn’t exist, that’s when I get my big bucket mouths
It seems like the northern snakehead behave a bit differently from the bullseye’s down here in south Florida. It’s cool to see them out in deeper water. I’m used to fishing for them right along the bank of canals in inches of water. Sick video.
Thanks Zac 👊 The Rappahannock River in this video fishes differently than most northern snakehead waters I’ve fished up here in MD, DE, and VA. I think it’s due to heavy Bowfishing pressure and the terrain of the river itself. Most other areas I fish for northerns they do relate to heavy grasses and shallow waters.
Thanks brother! It’s an incredible river. The upper reaches have trout and smallies, mid reaches have largies, bowfin, snakehead, and big blue cats, and lower reaches have saltwater species like striped bass and even Cobia. Good luck!
Rock solid tournament day Steve! Great video work as always! And yes, new tournament competitors will be pointed to this video to see how much attention is needed when taking scoring photos 🙏🏽 🏆🐍
Thanks Scott 🙏👊 The Rappahannock is an incredible river too. The headwaters have trout and a little further down some of the best smallmouth bass fishing around. Further south, great snakehead and giant blue cat fishing, as well as striped bass. At the mouth, it has saltwater species like Cobia. If I lived closer I’d fish it all the time.
Hey Kambo, thrilling to watch. Congrats on the place. I noticed you're using snaps on some of your setups. Could you shed some light on this and point in the right direction for which snaps are best/trusted? With or without swivel. Thanks!

I still fish the vast majority of time in MD, but been hitting VA a couple times in the past month or so. I think they’ll have the new record snakehead. Some absolute monsters down There.
I used to be in the same boat with trying to muscle the lures out of their mouth. Get yourself a pair of jaw spreaders. Make all the difference in the world!
Congrats on the third place finish while still providing awesome content. Also, very informative video. Hey is there a specific time where the snake hold in deeper water as opposed to the banks and pads?
Thanks brother 👊 In most other waters, I usually don’t see snakehead go deeper until the colder months. That’s when they’ll either go to deeper water or hang on the channel edges. The Rappahannock snakehead are different though, and I think it’s a result of very heavy Bowfishing pressure which is causing a kind of accelerated adaptation in the snakehead. Essentially, the snakehead which are genetically predisposed to go shallow are getting destroyed by bowfishers and thus have less reproductive success. Conversely, those fish which are more predisposed to hang around deeper water are having better reproductive success, thus creating more snakehead with the same behavioral predisposition. That’s a very rough theory on my part though. No science to back it up, just my logical analysis.
@@KambotroutFishing roughly how deep were those fish? If you don’t mind me asking. Your theory seems legit. Also, are you able to mark them on fish finder?
the waters here look deeper than where you usually fish, usually in deep waters the snakehead will pull the fishing line stronger. btw the same words when I released a small fish, go and call your grandfather here 😂😂😂
you need more adds on your screen it will make you catch bigger fish next time. jk good job on second looser. jk again on a serious note love all the edits for added effect on hits misses and stuff very entertaining.
As usual awesome informative, entertaining, and exciting content! Thanks for the upload!
Thanks much Andrew 🙏👊

Great video. I'm always amazed that you manage to hang on to your cell phone and not lose it overboard when snapping snakehead pics!
Lol, I REALLY need to put that phone on a tether. It’s only a matter of time with snakehead fishing.

Thanks brother and very well done on the tourney structure and execution. Made it easy for us and a great time 👊
Wow man, way to find that pattern in fairly new water and great showing in the event!

Great video! When you’re fishing for snakes with spinnerbaits, do you typically use a trailer hook?
Thanks Alan and yes, I always use a trailer hook with a spinnerbait when snakehead fishing. It’s saved me many times.
Do you offer SH guided trips?
Not yet, but I am looking to that for next year. If you’re interested in a guide for this year, let me know and I can make several recommendations.
