    Story Summary :-
John has been a loving and devoted husband for over six years. He works tirelessly to ensure his wife’s needs and wants are met, including helping her fulfill her dream of owning her own cafe. John works extra days, overtime and sacrifices his own needs to make sure his wife’s dreams are realized.
Months after the cafe is up and running, John wants to start a family. Lisa is skeptical at first but eventually agrees. After some time trying for a child, John happens upon an empty birth control pill card. Heartbroken, by this discovery, he decides to figure out what’s going on.
One day, as he’s driving by the cafe he sees his wife kissing another guy. He’s faced with the crushing realization that his wife is cheating on him. John hires a private investigator to get to the bottom of it, then confronts his wife with the findings.
Lisa admits that she’s been cheating on him with an old friend from high school for months. John is hurt and decides to contact a lawyer to start divorce proceedings. Lisa is not happy with his proposed terms and decides to fight him in court.
Meanwhile, John finds out that his mom, who he supports financially, has been encouraging his wife to cheat on him, has been receiving money from said wife and tries to talk him out of getting a divorce.
When the proceedings happen, the judge decides that the couple’s assets (their home and the cafe) should be sold and the profits split evenly. This results in Lisa having to close the shop.
John moves into his own apartment and cuts his mother off, no longer helping her with bills, after she behaved so despicably, which causes a rift in his family. Half of them are on his side and half are not. John decides that cutting ties with that toxic side of his family is for the best.

I am so sick of people and the "But it's your mom" spiel. My mom and dad divorced when we were young and she was pregnant with someone else's kid. The part about it being someone else's kid did not come up during the proceedings and my dad ended up paying child support for him also. About a year after the divorce she called him and had him come get his 3 boys, or she was going to put us in an orphanage. He was in the Navy and stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois, but he got emergency leave and came and got us. He had a buddy's wife to help with us and we ended up in an apartment in the countryside. Money was tight, so he asked her to tell the courts that he had us, so they would quit garnishing his pay and he could use the money on us. She told him that if he touched the child support, she would tell them that he stole us. I found this out, with another little tidbit, after he passed away years later. She had tried attaching his navy pension 30 some years after they had been divorced and she had been remarried. Mostly because my stepfather was unemployed and couldn't keep a job. He had never told us any of this and had never said anything bad about her to us over the years, unlike her who always told us that he had cheated on her. We found out all of this going through his shop after he died. They're both gone now, but stories like this and people always sympathizing with cheating women, or men always makes me mad.

FAMILY is a primary consideration..... Having said that, NO ACTUAL FAMILY MEMBER would condone "cheating" on ANY other family member. Mom violated her position as "mom" by condoning the infidelity. Her excuse that she, herself, had strayed "once" is irrelevant. She was actively helping her son's wife hide her infidelity. THAT crosses ANY reasonable boundaries. Both mom and ex are rightfully "cut off".

The fact rhat she was OP's mother is highly relevant. She betrayed him. Not the other way around. For the abusive aholes (only abusers defend abusers) saying 'but shes his mother', tell them rhat that is the point. That she should protect him, not betray and abuse him. By doing so she lost all rights of parenthood

His mom made her choice when she was taking the wife’s money and never letting her son know that she had that additional money. She is very self centered. She wants every thing to remain the same so she gets to have a little bit of extra without her son knowing anything about it. Greedy is as greedy does.

His mom made her choice when she became the kind of woman that her DIL actually called to ask for advice on how to handle cheating on her son. Clearly OP's ex already knew that she was a cheater, that she could trust her to betray her own son, etc. I'm sure OP's ex already had many talks with OPs mom and knew full well what kind of women she was -- family cheating, her reaction to others, her relationship with OPs father, etc.

OPs mom was also supporting the cheating wife as she made sure OP was not able to have a kid. Something that OP mentioned was extremely important to them. The mom is a cheater and she chose to support the cheater. She is not entitled to OPs financial help at all. "but thats your mother!", Yes that is a person who decided to have sex and had the responsibility for 18 years to take care of that life she birthed. You dont get good credit for doing the minimum you are supposed to and having a kid in no way entitles you to their help or care when they grow up.

1st of all OP'S mother should have told his wife end it and come clean with him he should know, but she told his wife it is normal to cheat, which it most certainly is not. 2nd of all, she confessed to having cheated herself more than once, just driving the knife even farther up and closer to OP's heart. I would have immediately cut off his mother, but he had the decency to wait a bit before finally making that decision.

OP gets the free and clear in my book. Not only did she give the greenlight on cheating she admitted to cheating herself. That's a whole extra serving of 'nope'. One nope would cut down the goodwill to "sigh, she is technically my mom", because she did do a lot for OP. The second nope is what removes the last of the bonds holding them together.

Why would anyone side with the mother in this scenario? Not only did she knowingly encourage her daughter-in-law's cheating and told her to keep it a secret from her husband but she then had the gall to tell her son to basically get over it and offered no emotional support to her own child. She didn't care about her son's feelings and by the looks of it, she was only concerned with getting money from him and his ex-wife. In my opinion, that awful harpy got what she deserved.

The sisterhood is very strong smh .The thought of having your own mother taking side with your cheating wife is so bizarre and disgusting 😑.

I do think that OP was really bitter but I really do understand. I hope he finds peace in the end. His mom should never have contacted family about his business. I really don't think that OP went to far. Family always comes first.

He didn’t. His wife cheated, and his mom not only covered it up but CONFESSED TO CHEATING HERSELF!!!! Kick her to the curb. Family doesn’t do that, and she’s no member of the family for that. Same for those who take her side. Cheating is terrible and they are saying they’re ok with it by taking her side.

If his mother has family that condemns him for cutting financial help for her they can give her a ride to the social services office if they are so concerned for her well being.

It doesn’t get much worse than being betrayed by your own mother (and for his cheating wife)?
