Thanks for the measurements-I've always wondered what the length should be.

Thank you for this video. I am getting ready to bind a T-Shirt quilt that I made for my daughter and I framed each T-Shirt with different fabric and thought I could use all the scraps from the borders I have left over as binding but was not sure what length to cut each strip, etc. so this helped me a lot! Thanks.

Thank you! Today I recalled that I saw your video and it came in so handy today as I wanted to make a scrappy binding.🥰

Thank you, Sherri for the information on scrappy bindings!! I have used scrappy bindings before so I could use up my fabric but I wasn’t sure how long to make the pieces!! I was happy that you explained how you determine the length of the pieces!! You think of everything, thankfully!!!😁

Thanks for your tips on scrappy bindings. May try it on my current project if I have enough fabric left from the fat quarters. I had to laugh every time you said scrappy binding. It would have been fun to have a counter in the corner of the video keeping track of the number of times you said it. See you next time.

HaHa! Oh my! I usually read comments before watching, so I was ready but I stopped counting at 15!!

Great info - I just finished “Cottage Charm” from Labor of Love and have quite a bit of leftover fabric. I was able to find a fat quarter bundle of Harvest Road and love the fabric, but wasn’t sure how long to make the strips for a scrappy binding - now I’m excited to finish the quilt!

I usually machine bind my quilts so I'm topstitching the binding down on the front. Any thread color ideas since there's so many binding colors going on? I tried scrappy binding once and used ecru but didn't like the way it looked on the very dark strips. Maybe a gray tone would be neutral for all.

A lot of your fabric lines coordinate well together and so the scrappy binding using older fabric lines should look great, but would you use a piece of fabric color in your binding that is not in the quilt? I am thinking of the purple that was in balboa. It was a beautiful color, but it was only in the balboa fabric. If I make a quilt using Walk About, should I use a piece of the purple Balboa in a scrappy binding?

Is it impossible to avoid a seam in the binding happening at a quilt corner (to avoid bulk)when using scrappy binding?

One thing I really wonder about is using bias binding or strips of fabric for binding. No one really says what they generally use aside from saying use bias on curves and sometimes saying that bias binding may be more durable. Do you have any advice? 💕

It sounds like you keep the length of the scraps the same all the way around for a binding. For example, a lap quilt, the scraps of binding would all be about 11 inches. Would you please confirm? Thanks

I have never used a scrappy binding. I guess lining up the colors have been my challenge, but I do think I’ll be using one on the next quilt if appropriate. What is the fabric line of the blue and yellow quilt? It’s so summer-ie and soft looking. Tfs. Have a great week and God bless. 👏🏻💕👏🏻

Just try it as I did accidentially as my little nephew immediately wanted a quilt like his brothers. I used green stripes as it was a yellow green quilt - and wondered that you see nearly nothing of the scrappy binding. The binding is too small to disturb your eyes. Now I'm preparing currently different bindings: pink, red, dark blue, light blue, yellow, brown.... to have them ready to finish a quilt.

Should all the scrappy strips be the same length or can you use all different lengths?

I make one when I am using a jelly roll, and there is only one strip per color of the quilt. M
