    Like most of their albums this one has a unique gimmick. In this album all the songs bend into one another. And the last track blends back into the first so the album never actually ends, it loops infinitely. Hence nonagon infinity.

    Nonagon is the quintessential King Gizzard album, it was their first international success and kicked off a whole slew of theories about the little stories in the lyrics, look up Gizzverse theory. the next 5 albums were all done in one year (including Polygondwanaland, the massive prog rock masterpiece that starts with Crumbling Castle) which was released under a completely free licence for anyone to make their own releases of. definitely have a look at the video clips they did for nonagon infinity, gamma knife and people vultures make one fantastic double feature video.
    Great band, always evolving and trying new things.

    They certainly aren't shy about influences....but like all great bands anything you hear by them sounds like them. They are uniquely relentless....yeah I think relentless perfectly describes them....🎸🏆

    • @redaffix7320
      @redaffix7320 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      I can't remember who, but someone pointed out that they don't really play to a beat, rather they play to momentum. They always sound like they're moving towards something on this album, only to loop around and start over again. Worth the trip every time.

  • @BayouMaccabee

    My favorite thing about King Gizzard & The Lizard is the fact that each album sounds different than the others while sounding similar at the same time...and with so much energy, which translates so well to their live records (I have several of them), but I bet witnessing them playing live to feel that energy in person has got to be amazing...especially when they have both drummers jamming on stage together.
    I can't wait for him to get to their three microtonal albums ("Flying Microtonal Banana", "K.G.", and "L.W.")....taking the Liz-Wiz thang to a whole new level.

    • @daffyrwt

    It's the right energy boost after recovering from Covid, I guess. If you are new to the band, this might not seem too impressive at first, in fact it could be a bit monotonous with each track blending into the next and most tracks developing out of a slight variation from the preceding track. But this is very smart (and rocking) stuff 💚

    Jim, yesterday somebody recommended me an album of something I never heard before. I dont know why it stuck in my mind so today going to work I put it on spotify and listened.
    The "band" was called Syrek - and the album is called Story. It just blew my mind, really off the charts musicianship I beleive you will enjoy as much as I did. I got to work and immediately looked them up. How on earth could be such musicians benn kept off my radar.... and then it clicked. I read a review that made me feel the same as the writer: " I have to admit, I feel slightly embarrassed that I’ve not come across guitarist/composer/teacher Terry Syrek before now. Especially as he has worked with an impressive list of renowned artists including Paul Gilbert, John Petrucci and many others.
    For this, his fourth album Terry has assembled a veritable international supergroup. Sharing bass guitar duties are Bryan Beller (The Aristocrats, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai….) from America, and Indian bass prodigy Mohini Dey (Steve Vai, Tony McAlpine….). On keyboards is Lalle Larsson (Karmakanic, Electrocution 250, Agents of Mercy….) from Sweden. Completing this amazing line-up are Romanian virtuoso violin player Florian Cristea and esteemed German drummer Marco Minnemann."

    Love King Gizzard. I remember hearing this album for the first time. If you could distill pure energy onto an album, this is what it would sound like. Cool! This is a new KG album to me. I’ve heard maybe a half dozen of their many albums. I like it. I like the band, but I find them a bit relentless.
