"There's so many melodies going on at once and they are all coming together beautifully" That is King Gizzard in a nutshell :) That's their whole thing!
There really isn't anyone quite like KGLW. As others have said, they are incredibly prolific, and genre swap all the time. One year they put out 5 full albums of new material. In 2022, they sold out the 9,000 seat Red Rocks Amphitheatre 3 nights in a row, played 3 hours each night, and didn't repeat a single song. Stupidly skilled musicians. As for KEXP, they have many fantastic recordings on their TH-cam channel. A great place to discover new artists in a live setting.
King Gizzard is one of the best bands of the 2010s and 2020s so far. They do lots of different styles, though they usually stick to 1 style per album. Speaking of albums, theyve released 25 in just over 10 years, and they're still on track to release plenty more. Despite their crazy release output, nothing they make is low effort, and they put a lot of thought into their work. Lyrically, King Gizzard often discusses much more global topics, and they particularly love talking about humanity slowly destroying the Earth. I'm kinda surprised you picked up on the lyrics so easily, I don't really see people do that too often with King Gizzard. For another song of theirs to listen to, there are tons of options, so I'll list a few that cover their different styles. "The River" for jazz rock "Self-Immolate" for thrash metal "Crumbling Castle" for progressive rock "Shanghai" for synth pop "Billabong Valley" for microtonal desert rock I absolutely adore this band, I think they're amazing, and I've loved just about everything they've made. Hoping to see some more!
I'm so glad you covered this band. Not only a unique band name but a unique band. Also, KEXP I think is out of Seattle but I have also seen Aurora on KEXP in Iceland, I think. Anyway I love that you connect with a song emotionally, I think it speaks to your character.
One can only envy you for hearing KGLW for the first time a few days ago. You have a chance to go on an incredible journey that will make your musical sensitivity and perception of sounds completely different than before. You can use the terms "the best and the greatest in the world", but this is only a subjective, unquantifiable assessment. This discography is the most beautiful and unexpected adventure that has happened to me in my musical life.
Thank you, Jesse, for this reaction to my Patron request! I’m so thankful you were able to go with a longer song- I wasn’t sure you’d choose to. You 100% got the vibe of the song and the story immediately and that’s crazy on a first listen. Your commentary was insightful as well, which brought tears to my eyes, as it’s the song that got me through my father’s passing in late 2022. I’m incredibly thankful for the song and this specific performance. The protagonist is stuck in an iron lung and wants to escape (my dad had dementia and I was able to place my dad ‘in’ the iron lung and could feel his own need to escape in the lyrics). It moved me how you dialed it right in to the heart of the song. I’m so glad you liked the song. Gizz is an insanely talented and prolific band. They have put out 25 studio albums since 2012 w many from different genres. They’re the best band going right now imo. Thank you again for ths, and for doing what you do. Jeff
Yes finally more people are reacting to the greatest band of the modern era!! Ill be seeing them for the first time in September in Vancouver and i cant fing wait.
❤️KEXP is my local radio station! They are big supporters of independent artists. I’ve seen KGLW several times here in Seattle, always sold out. Thanks for giving them a listen ❤️
You wear your beautiful heart on your face, I hope you fall in love with Gizz the way I have: Although they genre hop from acid jazz to thrash metal to edm to prog etc, their most covered topic, generally, is Climate Change. They won an Environmental Music prize for it. However as intelligent as these guys are, they also have songs about stoic philosophy. And getting high and partying. There's 25 albums now, so there can be a bit of variety. And much ❤ to KEXP - I've been listener for a very long time and the woman hosting that performance (Cheryl Waters) is a gem with great taste who introduced me to this band among many incredible musicians; you should watch this entire performance (it's only 3 songs but be sure to watch the collected version so you can 'meet' Cheryl.)
The crescendo I think is related to the last line before they go into that middle section. "Gimme the mushrooms. Time to leave" meaning possibly the patient is taking the psychedelics as a therapy or means of temporary escape.
This is the video that hooked me on King Gizzard. I loved your reaction to the energy build and manic shift when Ambrose starts singing. Then the band brings it all back to a groovy calm. Incredibly creative musicians!
Keep going with them! Maybe try Catching Smoke next or Ice V to get an idea of their range. You’ll definitely want to get into an album review at some point!
⚡️THE WARNING⚡️ Check out their song "Black Holes" from the Dakota Bar. They are much younger, but still awesome! Pau sings this and pulls at the ❤. It's just what Pau does.
You have been Warned by muSIK (by Jeremy & Jillian)! So, you are tasked with reacting to a video by The Warning. Choose one of their songs to react to, then pick another reactor to pass the Warning on. Spread the muSIK!
You have been warned by muSIK (Jeremy &Jillian)! ⚡️ Please keep this the Warning train rolling by reacting to one of their songs and warning an other reactor. I think you really like Automatic Sun! 🤟🔥⚡️ Have seen and enjoyed all your other The Warning reactions. Just realized I have never subscribed so that’s corrected now! 😜 Grtz from The Netherlands
HEY GIRL!! I already posted this in your The Warning TEDx reaction, but it bears repeating...You have seriously been WARNED!!! 🚨🚨🚨 by Jeremy and Jillian from the MuSik youtube channel. They sent us (that being the The Warning Army) your way to help spread The Warning love! I know you have already been bit by The Warning bug and I've enjoyed all of your reactions to this amazing group so far, but it would be really cool if you'd check out another music video of theirs from their channel, then pick another reactor for us to go WARN and keep the chain game going. You're the best! Thank you for supporting the girls! Rock on! 🤘🤘- TWA
By the way, I did want to comment on this reaction also. I've heard King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard before (I have a soft spot for Aussie artists) and they are a vibe. And 'nostalgic' is exactly the word I'd use to describe this song. The beginning sound screamed late 60's to me, like something Jefferson Airplane would do. Got way more experimental as it went along but I really liked it.
"You've been WARNED ⚠ by Jeremy and Jillian of @musikbyjh !!! Please react to a The Warning song and 'warn' another reactor to keep spreading The Warning love!!!"
You have been Warned! ⚡⚡⚡ By-muSiK (by Jeremy & Jillian) @musikbyjh Please react to a song by The Warning and send us off to WARN another reactor so the reaction chain can continue.
Thank you for watching my reaction! Please check out this band's direct TH-cam Link: www.youtube.com/@KingGizzardAndTheLizardWizard

Some of their best live moments from those 3 nights!
Greatest band of the modern era.
I was at red rocks those first 2 nights. Definitely a highlight of my life

KEXP is indeed Seattle broadcast 91.5 on the FM dial, but they do remotely host the station in Iceland annually. I think during an Iceland music fest.
BEST BAND IN THE FUCKING WORLD
100%

You're correct! They are both harmonizing and playing in the same key but in different octaves. Awesome reaction.

possibly
I always took it as, leave completely. Die. But to die already on the path.
All their KEXP performances are great.
It’s a beautiful song isn’t it? Love them to the bottom of my heart ❤
if you like that one I recommend the song Magma by KGLW this version "Magma Live at Red Rocks 6/8/23 King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard"
Loved this reaction! Hope you end up doing more king gizzard. I would recommend Fishing for Fishies to see them doing something entirely different.

⚡️THE WARNING⚡️
Check out their song "Black Holes" from the Dakota Bar. They are much younger, but still awesome! Pau sings this and pulls at the ❤. It's just what Pau does.
Most people only like that band because they are young, hot chicks that play hard/alternative rock, but just don't want to admit it.
Hi! You’ve been WARNED, by muSiK (by Jeremy & Jillian)!! Please react to the song Automatic Sun by The Warning. We know you will LOVE it!
We got a new Gizz fan. Welcome to the Wierdo Swarm.
MuS!K(by Jeremy & Jillian) sent me to Warn you

TWA (The Warning Army) incoming. Please react to anything The Warning.
You Warning fans are ridiculous.
Can you react to METZ- 99 😁🙏... a great noise rock song of this year 😎✌️
If there was to be only one band in the world it would have to be KG and the LW. THEY ARE NOT THE BEST AT ANY GENRE but top 0.01% at very very many!
You have to listen to the whole album…🙌🏼🤍👍🏼
You have been Warned! ⚡⚡⚡ By-muSiK (by Jeremy & Jillian) @musikbyjh
