If this album was recorded by a metal band, you could say it's great. However, here we are dealing with an unprecedented musical phenomenon and an extraordinary album. I don't know any other group/artist who could navigate popular music so fantastically. Every time I listen to this album, I remember how much I like 'Polygondwanaland', 'Ice, Death, Planets...' and 'Changes'. Ambrose's vocals in 'Gila Monster' are as phenomenal as those in 'Iron Lung' or 'Grim Reaper'. It is impossible to ignore their music, unless you meet someone who is indifferent to music. In my opinion, absolutely the most interesting group of the 21st century.
I was among the first in the world to hear Gila Monster, when they debuted it before release at their show in Tilburg this year, I can’t tell you how awesome it was to be chanting Gila to a song you’ve never heard before!
There really is something to Witchcraft. At first listen, I put it as like my 4th favorite on the album. Now that I've listened to it a hundred times, Witchcraft is the one I come back to every time.
King gizzards genius is wearing their influences on their sleeve while underscoring it all with their brand of weirdness. Taking something old and making it polarizing is one thing. Making a masterpiece at the same time is genius.
I'd recommend you check out the also quite recent "Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava" by them, it's quite jammy but also really brilliant.
This record and Infest the rats nest are great metal albums! KGWL is incredible in live. There's one gig recently recorded in France where they perform both, there's also a bit of rap in it (Grim Reaper), you should have a look.
Their next album part of which is just posted on TH-cam is a total contrast. The versatility is out of this world. No 2 albums are the same style. Brilliant!

Record of the year!
The video for Gila Monster makes you like the song even more. It's simply a celebration of metal.

Haha yes it was!
same here but with witchcraft at the caverns and converge at the salt shed.
@@Gavril007we got Converge at Boston Calling first. Also the debut for Ambrose’s tiny cymbal.
a 10/10 album of the year for me

Converge reminds me of Iron Maiden in some bits
Listen to Infest The Rats Nest. Period.
I hear old school Genesis in Witchcraft.
You just melted my brain with this comparison and now I can't un hear it.
