5.0 Coyote Swapped 2008 Mustang GT

- A 2008 Ford Mustang GT with a Coyote 5.0 engine producing around 415hp swapped into it. The S197 is a great platform for engine swapping. The swapped engine comes from a 2014 S197 Mustang. The car pulls hard and is extremely loud.
That's a really clean swap.

I really admire this car swap. Cuz I remember this model Mustang considered to be heavy back when it came out. 3415 lbs Now this car is nearly 400 pounds lighter than the S550. So this Power Swap definitely gets a big power to weight ratio boost

@@MultiHammer12they don’t sound anything alike, lol. The coyote sounds raspy. The 4.6 3V sounds like an old school muscle car. It uses the same cylinder firing order as the old 5.0s from the 80s and 90s and those also sounded great.
4.6 sounds good in a different way than the coyote. But the coyote sounds awesome as well. I like both

What with the "dumbass" part? I have a female friend who built her own engine back when I was in H.S. A 1968 Camaro with the 305. She started talking about the lift and duration of her new cam and knew more about it than the guys standing there. She's now 49 and just as smart as she ever was. "Most girls" is true, but not all girls. I just think it's a bit crass to insult this chick because she's talking about the parts on her car. No woman I've been married to or dated could even do that. So kudos to this one for knowing what she does, however much - or little - it is. Make sense?
Not staged...it's very obvious I'm nervous and wasn't sure what was going to be asked so being asked about wheels on a race car wasn't really expecting that and couldn't even remember which ones I had on it. I use multiple wheels and tires. Don't need a man to pay for my shit nor would I let one make a call on what goes in it. I'll listen to a mans input, especially if they know what works but they better be able to explain why! I know most of my shit and hell yes I'm a car girl! I used to run my car on my own without anyone else out there with me using nitrous. See you at cash days az next year if you doubt me that bad!

***** because a new transmission is typically used to handle that extra horsepower and it doesn't work well or doesn't use the original synchronizer.
perfect combo i like the 05-09 body best just needs more horsepower
Deserving bodystyle of the mustang for the 5.0 coyote swap. They really captured the original mustang body style with a slight modern twist before they really started running away with the modern look. Very cleanly done too. Awesome, awesome car.

Idk why everyone hates on the 4.6 3v. My 05 ran a 13.2@106 with just an intake and a 12.7@109 with intake x pipe and a bama tune. Literally $700 bucks worth of mods. In 2005 that was pretty quick. Back in the day I walked countless e46 m3s, ls2 gtos, evos, stis ext. In the real world on the streets of south Florida it won a lot of races.
I love my 4.6 cause it’s an underdog. Nobody expects anything and it’s fun putting surprised faces on people
My 08 GTCS has 337 rwhp. Got 4k in mods. These are hot rod cams,Headers and after market cold air intake and pulleys. Also a custom tune. All work done by Alternative auto in Chesterfield Mi.You can get great results out of the 4.6.
Totally agree I have an intake and a garbage bama tune until I get Lito to hook me up with a tune and ran a 13.4 plus I let off at the end because I knew I was gonna break out easily could’ve got a 13.2 and I’m getting close to installing my 1.9l vmp supercharger can’t wait to see how she does
@@tylerdingle8528 the reason people hate on them is because see the dude above with 337 rwhp cams headers intake pullies etc they'd say do the same mods to a coyote and you got 450-500 wheel. They judge everything off what power it comes with stock and what power it's capable of. There's no doubt the 5.0 is faster stock for stock mod for mod but it also costs significantly more so its all relative. The 3v isn't nearly as bad as people think it is. Fbo cammed with boost can get you a reliable 500 rwhp and that can get you into the 10s with a decent suspension and tire plus driver. That isn't bad at all for a car from 2005. Just because another engine is better don't mean the 3v is bad. I would do that if I had one fbo cams headers and like say an m122 from a gt500 I think those work well with a stock motor 3v and can give you all the stock motor can take and then some. It's undersized for the 5.4 4v but on a 4.6 3v it's a decent setup especially a stock bottom end car.
It sounds good. I think Dynomax super flow 2000cfm mufflers would make it sound good too.

Absolutely incredible 5.0 swapped Mustang, with a really cool owner! I love that she's rocking the Hurst shifter as well! My brother had that shifter in his modded '08 Mustang GT. Great shifter! Women like this are freaking awesome!!

@@ThatLoud3v totally agree with you, when I first seen the latest mustang I was expecting a sound like the 3V & I heard it take off & was disappointed. I think with all the money you spend coyote swapping, if you put that into a 3V, you can get the same kind of power.

35 spline axles with help handle more power to the rear end. A full spool means that both wheels will lock up kind of like a limited slip, its better for drag racing. Very nice car
Spool means both axles/wheels are like one straight axle going to both wheels. Both wheels rotate at exact same amount, always. Limited slip allows slippage while cornering as does Detroit locker style setups. I’ve driven cars with spools/welded carriers on the street/around corners. At best it’s VERY annoying. At worst, causes wheel hop around turns, twists axles. She needs to install a 9’’ rear with a detroit locker. I cannot fathom why someone would spend all that money 0n a swap/tune and then WELD diff. That said: that thing sounds really great!
Honestly, not a fan of the coyote sound in new stangs, but I think it's just the exhaust structure of the new mustangs that gives it too much rasp for my taste. It sounds really good in the 05-09 setup. I've heard it a hundred times in the new models with borlas, and it sounds completely different. This is dope
05-09 is same kind of exhaust routing as 11-14 5.0s they're s197 also. But the later s550s are different and imo don't sound as good as the s197
@@midnight347 Yeah I was referring to the s550 with this post, and referenced the 05-09 since the setup is the same for the s197-ii. Although I prefer the sound of the 3V regardless.

334 to 351 hp at the wheels.

my 06 has the 4.6 it's still fast, just not as fast as the 5.0....the motor is a good motor but Ford did a great job of throwing under performing air and fuel equipment on it. along with under performing cams and rear differential.

I can't decide to do a Coyote/M swap into my pristine '01 New Edge V6/A that I've owned since new with 109K miles or sell or sell it and buy an '05-'08 GT Coupe that I do't know much about.
Likely sell the New Edge… But it is so beautiful in Zinc Yellow… I've averaged 1 or 2 compliments a week for 17 years!!! I like the body style of the 99-04 much more than the 05-08… But the 05-08 aren't ugly...
MacPro8CoreMan Swap in a GT setup with the 5 speed and call it a day. Don't make much power stock but cams + exhaust your at 300whp in a light car to begin with. You can find 4.6 2v engines for dirt cheap too

I was told by my mechanic that the cayote is inferior to the 4.6.. it has weaker internals. Also the manual trans of that generation is super weak.. this is why I'm staying out of the 2011+ v8 mustangs.
Your mechanic is a jackass I have had a 2014 GT with heavy mods including a supercharger since 2015 and have put 180k miles on it with no issues at all and get around 550-570hp to the wheels and I beat the shit out of it daily to this day runs like new

Pretty sweet swap, S197's have loads of parts for them.
I bought a 2007 new and back in its day, the car was fast. Remember, there was no Camaro or Challenger back then. The cars we cross-shopped it with were the Honda Accord V6 coupe, Infiniti G35, Acura TL, and the Pontiac Grand Prix. All v6's! The Pontiac had a supercharger, but still only made 240hp.

seems pointless imo. May as well just go full bolt ons and a supercharger. Only reason you'd go 5.0 is for huge numbers but if you're leaving the 5.0 stock, you could get those numbers out of the 3v for cheaper probably.

She needed a new engine and instead of doing another 4.6, she chose this/correct.
4.6 parts are not cheap and limited to find. It would have cost me more to fully forge which I was in the process of doing when I decided to swap it. 5.0 parts are easily found and this engine is no where near being done...
E Makastang why not just build the engine while it was still out? I want to do the same to my 06 gt.

love everything she did with the car and the 5.0 swap but I don't think a Mustang GT is a sleeper when you see a Mustang GT you think it's fast know if she pulled up in a 1996 Thunderbird with the 5.0 swap 6 speed and the IRS out the Mustang now that's a sleeper
4.6s aren't that fast so yes this is definitely a sleeper. Everyone will think it's a 4.6.

Very nice car and from the looks, power and sound you all have engineered a maserpiece. Perfect dd or weekend worrier imo. I love it. I agree the 3650 imo is a better tranny when compared to the new 6 speed sticks all my friends complain about theirs ive witnessed soo manny loose 3rd and 5th . I know i put my 3650 through a lot, with around 435 hp 500 tq on spray, not always that much, all i ever had to do was upgrade the clutch we also added a pro 5 0 shifter with a hurst stick not only does that setup look great it performs very well. My wife and i owned a 06 3valve full bolt on with a 100/150 nx plate kit thats why i believe they are more reliable. Had ford designed the 05 through 10 gt with the same bottem end the new 5.0 has even with the 3valve head we would have never parted ways with ours. Now we own a 93 fox, I've wanted to replace the pushrod engine in the fox with a coyote but after research its close to a 10 thousand dollar swap it was out of our budget, we are curently building a stock block clean 90 fox gt, my primary focus is sus and weight. It already has a good top end package it came with poted trickflow tw that flow 305 at .600 lift, extrude honed holley upper and lower intake. The stock block on a 150 is very close to the threshold, had our budget been a few grand more there's no way we wouldn't have a coyote or atleast a dart block between the shoc towers, behind it sets atko 600 we just purchased, we have always wanted a mid to low 10 sec setup a full bolt on coyote on a 100 shot will run low 10s all day. Maybe one day our dream comes true the whole family loves it, however few car enthusiast/dRacers are patient lol. Hopefully one day we can afford the coyote setup our car has already been down over a year. My youngest daughter loves mustangs, that has always put a smile on my face, obviously because im using their yt account. Lol Everyday she asks when will it be done so i can take her for a ride._lol Hopefully soon. This house has the mustang fever bad.

Literally my Favorite Body style in the S-197. My Electronics started to go out and i just couldn't figure out what was happening. I burned out two batteries in a month. Ended up trading out into a 2017 EB.
