  • Everybody Talks about the Problem, Nobody talk about the Solution. I think the way to Fix Modern Games and The Game Industries problem with releasing broken games is actually easy to solve.
    For The System:
    Modern game.
    Modern gaming.

    Game Release.
    New Games Coming Out.
    Gaming Industry.
    Modern Gaming Sucks.
    Modern gaming essay.
    Loot Boxes.
    Greedy.
    Gaming isn't fun anymore.
    Games are broken.

    Do you think if Companies and Developers were forced to release demos of their game it would help mitigate the Broken Release Problem we have?

      No. Concord had a free beta and they will still get a bunch of money to make more bad games.

      I think it would help most companies and most games, yes.
      AAA studios won't want to do it, however, because they're reliant on their underbaked crap products being oversold and overhyped by yes-men and shills, as well as sunk cost fallacy when people begin to realize the 70-10 bucks wasn't worth it.
      That said, screw AAA.

    There's a reason game rentals were so popular for NES, SNES, Genesis, etc. "Try before you buy" is a good system.

    2:43 This right here, this is unquestionably the most annoying part of modern gaming. It's become so normal to release unfinished or broken games WILLINGLY because of a "hey, We'lL pAtCh iT lATeR" attitude

    • @Ragepatty
      @Ragepatty  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @DimmackFan multiple reasons why, but the fair thing to do, especially in today's broken game climate, would be for platforms to make small demos of the finished game mandatory. At least for any games over a certain price. At least it seems logical to me lol

    I think biggest reason for broken game releases is possibility to update games via Internet. I mean, when games were released on a disc and users had no Internet as a normal thing, games were working on that disc since those could not be updated after the purchase.
    Now games what are on disc (on PS4 and newer and Xbox One and newer) are sometimes broken since it is accepted as a normal thing that users will just upgrade the game. Maybe if they would release a game console without any kind of internet connection but with disc drive or what-so-ever media, maybe it would force developers to make games ready and make sure they work because it would be catastrophical to pay huge amounts of money to physical disc and then have to pull them back because of untested crap they have stored on that disc?

    • @Ragepatty
      @Ragepatty  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @user-gw3yb3ki6w I see your point! I wish we could go back to physical media being the preferred method! However I think even with our all digital future it isn't fair for us to pay 100CAD for a game and then have to wait weeks before the product we paid for, works the way it's supposed to. Only in the video game industry and no other is that ok and normal. You sold me a broken product. I shouldn't be forced to wait for patches. They should be forced to wait to release the games until they are working as intended. Having a mandatory digital demo to be available alongside any game over a certain price. That would ensure games are releasing when they should be and not when investors want them to be. (Which is often in an unfinished state)
      I could discuss this for hours, lol. Thanks for watching!!

    • @Grogeous_Maximus

      It should be catastrophical for these companies to release incomplete games, regardless of how easy it is to download patches and fixes.

    A demo have another advantage.
    It is a way to test if the performance is acceptable when you have a hardware below the minimum requirements.
    Only you and only when teesting can decide about that.

      You have refunds on Steam. When I noticed that Starfield worked horrible on my computer I just refunded with ease. That's basically a demo.

    Steam already solved it with universal no-questions-asked refund within reasonable play time (2h I think?).
    Every game is its own demo. Want to keep playing? Leave the money in.

    I mean the solution is already there, namely game reviewers on youtube. I never buy a game at release, honestly if its not a really good game I dont even buy it in the first year of release and instead get it sometime later on sale or used and save a ton of money that way, but more importantly I get to see what the game is like, what issues there are, how they are fixed, what content they provide and add later, is it worth my hard earned money and time or not. That way I dont run blind into a disaster, I never spoil myself, of course I want to have the fresh experiance of first time encounters story wise or boss enemies or whatever it might be, but the basic core game experiance is something I can easiyl deduce from reviewers. I don't understand why not everybody is doing that already, because if they were, we wouldn't be in the mess we are right now (or if those bad devs weren't greedy bastards), people need to stop preordering, buying games as soon as they are released, falling for hype or lies, buying bad/mediocre games new etctera and things will get better because those bad devs like Ubisoft don't understand nor learn if not for their bottom line being threatened.

    • @Ragepatty

      @Kenny-yl9pc great take 👌 I agree because I often am buying games the following year. But let's say for example the hot new game comes around (wukong) and you want to see if you'll enjoy the game or it runs good. It sucks to have to rely on reviewers for this. I like to formulate my own opinions and not have them influences by someone else before I've even had a chance to make my own. Right now our only solutions are gamepass (when the title you want Is on there day 1, rare) or waiting a couple months. Definitely appreciate Steams 2hr refund policy for this reason. You can demo any game for 90min and see if it's for you. I love steam for that reason.

      @AkiRa22084 because the game is a giant scam from day 1 my friend. If people play it I hope they enjoy themselves I don't wish anybody a negative experience, pretty much anyone who isn't a player of star citizen knows and calls it a scam and even alot of the players who do play it aknowledge this.

    Game pass is demo without DLC

    • @Ragepatty
      @Ragepatty  วันที่ผ่านมา

      @vidgamplay kind of. It doesn't often have all the new releases. Doesn't cover Sony Games, etc. It's a good way to try before you buy for sure, but it doesn't stop games like jedi survivor coming out busted on day 1. The average gamer doesn't watch youtube videos and reviews. They just buy the game. I think having a mandatory demo could mitigate this. I agree that gamepass is the closest thing we have, though, and a great deal, too , to be fair!
