I am going to briefly comment on the online discussion I've seen re: this event. The early game preview, at least the one I did, was not paid promotion, nor did Ubisoft have editorial control/veto on the content. They did not review the video beforehand nor would I remove it at their request. The implication I’ve seen from some is that the NDA limited our criticism. This is untrue, and I think most of the creators talking about this know that - these NDAs generally limits when the video can go live, and segments which cannot be previewed: eg story, WIP menus, etc. If Zack didn't like the game, I would've encouraged him to say so... and given the state of the game the video would've done even better. As mentioned, I did not attend the event but sent my employee Zack. We discussed his review to ensure that it was fair, and to make sure he highlighted potential technical issues even if the devs said that it’d be fine at launch as I learned from the Jedi Survivor event. ANYWAY, I messed up as I forgot to disclose Zack got Disney tickets for a dead day. Honest mistake, as I wasn’t the one who benefitted and he was going on the channels behalf - but I ordinarily disclose such and full context is important so that you, as the viewer, can decide how much weight to give the preview. There is fair criticism here re: potential conflicts of interest during preview events; I find them useful, and the vids are good and popular. I will continue to go if invited; but in the will make sure there is a continued detailing of anything received so you are fully informed
The issue with events like what Ubisoft held is it muddies the waters and makes transparency on possible corruption difficult. Anyone who went to the event cannot be called a journalist.

they should have fully embraced the speeders from Book of Boba Fett which made me cringe so hard that I can no longer suspend my disbelief for any Disney Star Wars bar Andor.
Look at Warframe to see just how much effects sell speed. Gauss is the speed frame, but he is slower than volt or titiayna. You wouldn’t notice playing because Gauss has the speed effects while the other two don’t.
Parallax can give the impression of speed, as an effect to cheat / use particle effects to hide the glitches. The floating problem is that it doesn't track with the ground velocity, because the speed doesn't change when rolling or pitching up.down. The collider does not travel on the ground mesh, so you don't get a matching sense of speed when the terrain turns or rolls. This effect works when it's a parallax heavy game like F-zero or hyper-fast travelling, where you can adjust your acceleration to move, but the roll/lean is jittery and doesn't drift/have momentum. So you notice the disconnect between moving, riding and walking on the terrain. The forward velocity doesn't change as you tilt upwards, so it's more like a toy car on a moving background. Without that acceleration or pitch/up/down to accelerate, there's no sense of moving in the world, because your forward velocity doesn't change as you go uphill or downhill, or roll to the left/right, or take a leap off a cliff/ramp. This also makes collision feel floaty because the collision box is likely a capsule collider that hits the ground terrain but it's on a separate floating camera rig, not a terrain-joined collider mesh.
Having all of that is for them to say an over all positive review. They don’t want them to say nothing but good things so it doesn’t seem so made up, they let them say bad things so long as they keep the video hopeful so people want to buy the game because their trusted TH-camr told them it’s okay.
You can get Ubisoft + for 18$ play a month and unsubscribe then.... because digital games get shutdown or never played again in the future by you right? Or your Kids and their Kids play this game then? ^^ just some thoughts.
Also you can steer it quite easily, when both the movies and my experience in Star Wars Battlefront clearly indicate that you're supposed to point yourself in roughly the same direction as your destination, lurch forward at 200 mph, and pray that there aren't any trees in the way, not turn around corners like a common pedestrian.
Yea - I really liked the motorcycle in Cyberpunk because I truly felt like I was about to crash and burn at any second. That's how the speeder should feel too

Curious that you think the AI is impressively intelligent and a good fit for stealth. That's the complete opposite of the footage Ubisoft themselves have shown off. I appreciate the review, but the major issue I have is that you are locked into playing a certain way with Kay Vess. It seems like stealth is the most encouraged, if not the main way of performing missions. I'd rather be able to use whatever play style and mold Kay Vess to fit that role. For example, mod a blaster to have higher damage and equip Kay with some armor padding or something, to suit a more combat-focused play style. They've created this nice world for us to play in but we are limited with who and how we play.

4:27 The gameplay does not support this claim imo, as the AI throughout the video seems rather unaware of their surroundings… mainly the fact enemies barley react to Nix at all, even when he attacks their allies… The level up system seems actually enjoyable tbh, and resembles that of KCD… The reputation system also sounds rather enjoyable and in depth compared to what I imagined… The world building is surprisingly great it seems, and is definitely the biggest draw imo… The mini games are really cool, and definitely an improvement when compared to other games with similar mechanics… Ship combat seems alright, nothing impressive yet enough to be entertaining…

With the description given here, I feel like it'll just be a *VERY* slight upgrade over their Assassin's Creed games - and I already hate those anyway.
This is an interesting one. Not Eck at fault though. The you tube rules require a video to be marked as sponsored even if the only sponsorship was access to a review copy of the game with no strings attached. Now, access to a copy does in itself raise questions (would you get access again if the review is bad?). But regardless I think the problem is the blanket "sponsored" label that covers everything from "I got the game early or wouldn't have been able to review it" right through to "I got paid big money and the company wrote the script to the video". To be fair the exact "payment" (travel etc) was stated in the video.
"sponsored" just means he got to play the game without paying for it. I'm willing to believe nobody got paid to say nice things. It seems to me like you're just a cynic and you're upset that someone is saying something that goes against your preconceived notions of a ubisoft game.
People are defending this game. “Just mediocre” isn’t something we should be ok with from one of the biggest publishers in the world, with one of the biggest IP’s in the world, at full triple A pricing
Every time I see this game all I can think is this could've been a Mandalorian game with a character creator. Personally just looks like AC with a pet.
Being a skinny girl running around throwing the worst looking punches ever at fully armored troopers and knocking them out just really takes me out of the game I can’t take it seriously

A skinny girl throwing punches at troopers takes you out of the game but dudes manipulating physical objects without touching them is no big deal? You dudes are so transparent.
While I absolutely do not mind having just a single pistol on the character, I hope we can at least visually customize it. If I could get anything I wanted, I'd love for an entire fleshed out workshop for tinkering with your various bits of kit to optimize them for what you want. For a blaster, this may be the push and pull of overheating, fire rate, recoil, size, charge size, reloading, failure probability, suspicion (ie, more fancy things on your gun makes it more likely that you get questioned by stormtroopers or ambushed by bandits). For a speeder, you could do things like repulsor life height, speed, fuel efficiency, fanciness (same as suspicion for the blaster), weapons (both for the speeder and maybe a spot to store a longer blaster you find in the world), and a bunch of other stuff. Make me feel like I am scavenging and upgrading my gear using only my witt and whatever that guy I just killed had.
Zach, did you partake in the plushie, Disney park access, boat tour, dinner ect like the other reported ‘influencers’? Did your video have to be cleared with the 3rd Party?

I've realized I have a different definition of what an 'open world' game is. I would want to be able to take out my blaster anywhere at any time. The lack of even that one feature, fore me, makes it not an open-world game.
You're telling me that Jedi Knight Academy has a more extensive weapon catalogue than this game does? There's so many cool weapons in the SW universe, and we're stuck with a blaster?
I mean. Kyle katarn was a trained smuggler who infiltrated the empire. It made sense that he was always switching weapons. But kay is primarily based on han solo. Did han ever use anything other than the DL44 in the movies? No. He was good with his blaster pistol and that was fine.
@roseevans4101 I think the problem here is the "that's fine". You're right, it's fine. But why do we have to settle for fine? Can we not ask for better than fine? It's the perfect opportunity to have a game with all kinds of cool weapons. Han Solo only used a blaster in the movies because of purely practical movie reasons, not for any lore reason. The real answer is that Ubisoft didn't want to.
The limited carried armory with the ability to pick up enemy weapons and use til they run out of ammo reminds me a lot of the Sniper Elite games, which isn't a bad thing.
Yeah but weren’t the testers flown out there to test the game… and wine and dined? And taken on a private tour of Disney? And given free stuff? They make it seem like it was just one thing. The reviews/previews are absolutely from a poisoned well. Can they still be legit, honest reviews? Absolutely. But can you trust any of them? Absolutely not.
@@EckhartsLadder No, I watched this video and just from captured footage within it I could see several things worth mentioning or calling out had one not taken Disney tickets and intended to be very soft on criticism. Floaty speeder controls and unspecified technical issues… And both of those criticisms followed up with qualifiers like “but I may just have not gotten the proper upgrades” and “they said the issues were due to this earlier patch that wasn’t the release version”. Being passive aggressive to a rather generous commenter in your position was an odd move. Much like ‘forgetting’ to mention your representative was given more than simply “paid travel and lodging”. Disappointing. My opinion of you continues to sink.
The lack of a character creator isn't that big of a deal for me. But if we do have to play as a set character, how come its another human? when was the last time the main character was a non human by default? Lethal alliance?
To be fair, I'm pretty sure the only other Star wars game with a set to have a non-human main character is Jedi Starfighter. I understand the issue, but it isn't a new one
This is true of basically all games in any sci-fi setting, and it irks me too. I was really hoping that for example Mass Effect: Andromeda would allow us to play as a Salarian or Turian or Asari but nope, yet another human. Seems like the only scifi games where we can play as one of the aliens are multiplayer/MMOs (ME3's multiplayer, Star Trek Online, etc.) or singleplayer but only in formats designed for maximum replayability and lacking any strong story (Star Trek Infinite.) What's weird is fantasy games don't have this problem. BG3, the Divinity games before it, everything in the Elder Scrolls franchise, etc. Or even something like Shadowrun. As long as one of the options is "elves" then they're usually playable, but otherwise we're locked into a human in any game with a strong central story. Extra weird for Star Wars because there are so many species that have been shown to also be part of the bounty hunter profession in that franchise. And it would not have been hard to make subtle adjustments to the dialogue when needed for them. EDIT: And I ESPECIALLY want the ability to play as a Geth! I am so sick and tired of games where the synthetic/machine races are defacto evil and never, ever playable. The idea that an intelligent machine race is fully incapable of being morally good is a dumb f**king idea. On the contrary, they would be morally good by default. Unlike organic races and our constant desire for "more" a machine race, logically, would desire only more electricity, which they could produce ad infinium from stars via solar collectors, or knowledge, which they would gain most efficiently by simply asking for it.
@@austinm5630 as a huge fan of mass effect i do agree being able to play as an alien would be great. But i don;t think you could tell the same story as mass effect if that was an option. It would need some kind of spinoff with its own self contained story.
@@claytopolis For the original trilogy, sure, I agree. But they could've done it with Andromeda I think. All they had to do was swap arks and swap ark captains, basically. So if you played as an Asari, then the Asari ark would be the one that arrives late while the Human one is the one stranded that has to be located and evacuated, etc. Alternatively they could've just made your character be Ryder Senior's protoge, so even though you're not human you're still on the human ark because you're his second. It was doable, is all I'm saying. Shep had to be Shep and especially for the story of the first game, had to be human. (Or at least one of the non-Citadel races.) But Andromeda totally could've featured an alien MC.
The AI is so bad. 3:14 Guard looking at an alien creature running up to her and doesn't do anything against it. Alien creature jumps onto it and the guard struggles. Other guard that should have seen this, just stands there while everything happens and doesn't react at all.
You’re missing the point. Regardless of who the developer team is, they will always try to polish their preview builds for reviewers, then force the game to release on a specific date, whether it’s ready for release or not. This happens with just about every single AAA studio ever. It’s a cash grab
I have zero idea why someone has not just copied the same format of GTA (allowing a custom hero to be good or bad that’s endlessly replayable), but with a Star Wars theme using Force Unleashed style Force powers unlocked KOTOR style based on your actions leading you further towards either the Light or Dark Side. Seems like it would be easy money.
You still think they care about money? Disney has more wealth than most nations... when something 'woke' flops, companies get compensation packages. Learn about ESG system.
Ya know if they want to make her flail her arms around for the melee like a moron and make it believable, make her atleast have some muscle. Could’ve made her some ex commando that went smuggler. Yes make her Gina Carano
When you realize game reviews have been like this for over 20 years and everyone has been encouraged to give their honest opinion. Good, bad they fly these creators out regardless because they want constructive criticism of their product. But it’s a lot easier to yell shill, isn’t it?
One thing that had me worried was lockpicking. I’m deaf, so for me Atomic Heart was unplayable. Too much of it used audio cues, the background characters aren’t subtitled, lock picking rhythm game was impossible because it required watching the entire screen for the flashes, not just one spot. Hope Star Wars has a gadget with a light on it.
Yeah, he did mention a visual queue is available in the accessibility menu. I can't always play my games with sound or headphones for various reasons and was worried for a minute as well.
More games need to follow Valve and subtitle sounds, like L4D. I can imagine that's great if you're hard of hearing or deaf - it literally subtitles things like "*Smoker Musical Que*"
Mate, that's only bad if they don't disclose that. By disclosing it they've provided you context for their impressions so you can guage if it influences their impressions. Or you can just not pre-order and wait for impressions at launch making the honesty of this video's impressions moot because it's not going to change whether you buy it or not.
I personally just really would have liked to be able to great your own character, and have it be more reminiscent of KOTOR after not having a Star Wars game like it for so long.
The skill system in this game reminds me of how Wolfenstein: The New Order did skills. And also how Doom 2016 did weapon masteries. Despite my hang-ups with Ubisoft being allowed to exist, I'm on-board with that kind of skill-progression, even though I do enjoy acquiring skill-points and pumping said points into skills.
Nope, that is how the game will be. We've seen it with nearly ALL AAA studios, "it's a beta, it will get fixed, hur dur" That was said about The Crew 2 and having played both betas and on Launch, it didn't change on any noticeable level and Ivory Tower is on of the arguably better studios at Ubisoft. Same goes for The Crew Motorfest. Watch_Dogs was literally downgraded in graphics and AI (because it was all scripted) and didn't change in mechanics. The same was noticeable for The Division. And For Honor did only stat-changes between its beta and its final release. Other AAA studios aren't better: Battlefield 2042 didn't change at all between beta und release, you could see it in the way aircraft was lagging around the same way in both builds. Battlefield 1 had a much better release and beta compared to 2042, but it also didn't change in between, at least not like a patch even would. Halo Infinite literally used its "beta" build into release without even putting the servers on hold. And these are only the games I personally have played in "both states". It's not like an indie or AA pre-release, AAA "betas" are just timed demos trying to entice y'all to speak good about the game, whilst ignoring anything but major problems, since it's just a "beta" Do yourselves a favour, do NOT pre-order, wait for it to release and watch a release review before even navigating its store page.
Looks interesting, but we really need a cockpit view for space combat. 90s X-wing and Tie Fighter style gameplay are the bare minimum expectation for space combat in 2024.

I feel like it looks too synthetic the way she moves side to side while on it, it made it look kind of off to me while I was watching

To be fair the exact "payment" (travel etc) was stated in the video.

Seems like the only scifi games where we can play as one of the aliens are multiplayer/MMOs (ME3's multiplayer, Star Trek Online, etc.) or singleplayer but only in formats designed for maximum replayability and lacking any strong story (Star Trek Infinite.)
What's weird is fantasy games don't have this problem.

Or you can just not pre-order and wait for impressions at launch making the honesty of this video's impressions moot because it's not going to change whether you buy it or not.
The games not out yet so how do you know it’s bad😂😂 all these comments and the game hasn’t even dropped. Don’t play it then and go play something
“One of the other creators” definitely modest pelican
Remember we didn’t get Star Wars 1313 so Disney could make this 💀
Not true that game was going to be a big fail from the beginning just look how many devs quit the project and what there saying about it now
@@RorikH Thank you for the article link and yes I agree both Lukas and Disney have there own part to play in 1313s downfall
star wars inlaws: true horror waits
Funny you say you didn’t like the speeder, I feel like you drove it the coolest out of all the footage I’ve seen
I personally just really would have liked to be able to great your own character, and have it be more reminiscent of KOTOR after not having a Star Wars game like it for so long.
Did they give yall boat rides and tickets for Disney? I think you should tell everyone wether or not yall took advantage of that
I love a game where there is less of HUD. It just feels more immersive.
The skill system in this game reminds me of how Wolfenstein: The New Order did skills. And also how Doom 2016 did weapon masteries. Despite my hang-ups with Ubisoft being allowed to exist, I'm on-board with that kind of skill-progression, even though I do enjoy acquiring skill-points and pumping said points into skills.
so EckhartsLadder didn't play the game? ok now i feel click baited..... and i'm not even 1 min in.
Does it have an interesting story / main mission? I'm less interested in "random" side missions.
Nope, that is how the game will be. We've seen it with nearly ALL AAA studios, "it's a beta, it will get fixed, hur dur"
That was said about The Crew 2 and having played both betas and on Launch, it didn't change on any noticeable level and Ivory Tower is on of the arguably better studios at Ubisoft.
Same goes for The Crew Motorfest.
Watch_Dogs was literally downgraded in graphics and AI (because it was all scripted) and didn't change in mechanics.
The same was noticeable for The Division.
And For Honor did only stat-changes between its beta and its final release.
Other AAA studios aren't better:
Battlefield 2042 didn't change at all between beta und release, you could see it in the way aircraft was lagging around the same way in both builds.
Battlefield 1 had a much better release and beta compared to 2042, but it also didn't change in between, at least not like a patch even would.
Halo Infinite literally used its "beta" build into release without even putting the servers on hold.
And these are only the games I personally have played in "both states". It's not like an indie or AA pre-release, AAA "betas" are just timed demos trying to entice y'all to speak good about the game, whilst ignoring anything but major problems, since it's just a "beta"
Do yourselves a favour, do NOT pre-order, wait for it to release and watch a release review before even navigating its store page.
a game that has no bugs does not exist
Looks interesting, but we really need a cockpit view for space combat. 90s X-wing and Tie Fighter style gameplay are the bare minimum expectation for space combat in 2024.
Someone got briiiiiiibed lol
Bro if someone pays for your flight they paid you. Extremely dishonest take from you lmao.
Ubisoft cars in watch dogs have always felt off imo. I think the fact that your in an open field makes them appear slower compared to a crowded city, weaving between cars and surrounded by tall city streets.
Do what you want cause a pirate is free, You are a pirate!
Imagine having the IP and you could actually make a Han Solo game but instead you make a game about an unknown female character. Yeah, makes sense.
It does make sense. Why does it matter the character’s gender? Its a videogame.
@@DarthGardens Because most gamers, like over 80% are guys and we're getting tired of playing games as girls. If it doesn't matter why are so many new IPs female driven? If you wouldn't rather play as Han freaking Solo than this random girl, then I'm going to assume you aren't a Star Wars fan and just another online SJW.
Female?
I like that review, honest and simple. I’ll probably get it a month or two after it comes out. Ive always been a fan of Star Wars games so I’m interested in this one
You worker defo got paid
Because he had fun playing a game and has a different opinion than you?
Dad of 3! Bro is breedmaxxing 💯
Hope this game has mod support, going to need it.
