More stuff like this please. We’re short on OPR news sources.
Genuine cheap and easy entry to wargaming! 😊❤ Thanks for the update, let's hope OPR can get bigger without changing too much 🤞
What a great idea. This is a much better way of getting OPR information than sitting through the sometimes painful OPR hangout streams. Love your channel, keep up the great work.
I really enjoy you OPR content. Thanks!
I love love love OPR....it makes me so happy to thumb my nose at 40k....i like to talk about 40k lore and then play OPR.....
Can't wait to start one page rules. Me and a friend are thinking about printing out paper minis when we meet in October
It's a great way to test the waters before jumping into buying minis or 3D printing.
Love the OPR content!
Quit playing 40k about two years ago. Just learned about one page rules a few days ago. Very interested. Thanks for your content.
I watched your video and immediately thought I needed to get to work basing my next army
Just joined OPRs patreon, I like the affordability, growing storyline and ruleset of Grimdark. I just purchased a resin 3D printer so I can I print out their miniatures. We need more competition in this market place to knock GW down a few notches. Keep up the great content.
Nice. Jumping in with both feet.
It's great to see OPR growing.
Pleas make more of these. Thanks to you I now know of, and am looking forward to reading the GD World Book.
great video as always! thanks for the updates!
I can't wait for the world books to come out! And I am excited for your lore videos!
Uh oh, I'm building hype. Now I'll suffer from George RR Martin syndrome and never do it out of fear it won't meet expectations.
@@Good.Nuff.Gaming You and me both!
@One_More_Page - Please can you explain to a layman why Lenton Lane does not have its legal team out in force over the use of "Grimdark"
Could they seriously be considering the advantages of opening up the GW canon?
Gz on 2k subs!
Oh my goodness, thank you for this. My adhd always gets distracted by the models in the news letters and I miss other things. Would love to have more of these.
I'll definitely follow your OPR coverage. Between all the Indy games I follow I can't track them all. I value your analysis.
woooow! I did know already about the lore book, but this age of fantasy quest is just fantastic news!
Yup I've patreoned both of them as well!!!!! Kids have it SOOOOOOO much easier than we had It!!!!!!!
for anyone wanting a really great free RPG that supports co-operative lore/world building with the 3 pillars, exploration, social and battle rules i recommend Ironsworn/Starforged. Its built for solo play but can be GM less or uided with a DM.
Grimdark makes me want to put their faction into my starforged campaign
Your comments about colour schemes is very timely, as we see the advent of reliable multi colour FDM printers. As you well said, a palette of only a few colours is very effective when designed well. How long before Fat Dragon is able to knock out elves with that minimal paint scheme on a cheap Bambu mini, and have them look just as good as painted resin, but at a fraction of the cost? Great news for the Pro-DM!
BTW, who painted those amazing elf snipers with the cosmic cloaks? They get my vote for first prize!
I think OPR has published the winners, so that info should be on the website now.
@@Good.Nuff.Gaming - Thank you, do you have a link?
@@Good.Nuff.Gaming - Thank you. Looks like the artist's name is Reid Walters and he also does a nice line in cat walls.
I like your run down I did watch the live stream so I kind of knew most of this but I really like the 8 minutes run down on a 90min video but I did get my free miniatures so that was a plus
Found this game randomly, im a TTRPG player and play narrative Story gaming, but a rues lite Wargame does peak my interest. I loved your explination of the rules and your keeping me uptodate for a game on the day i find it XD , perfect
Are you sure it was not the free minis that peaked your attention?
Very excited for this, I'm absolutely buying the book more than once, can't wait for them to print a hardback copy.
Something I'm working on is a new variant of one of the races, I got two in mind but I'm working on one of them right now, and I'm hoping its successful with people like it and maybe potentially being added to the game officially.
Obviously a high bar but I can dream, and work hard towards the goal.
Hey, I have pie-in-the-sky dreams too. One of them was to start a TH-cam channel that people actually watched, and I never thought I'd get there.
Very excited for OPR lore. Would love to have a hard cover. I have not been impressed with their choice of style for their minis lately, but that's just my personal opinion. I have been a long time patreon supporter and will continue. Being anchored to GW is unfortunate. I love building new armies using the army builder and being inspired by the many great artist on my mini factory. I am also guilty of using GW as i have also created "Eternal Spells" based off the GW equivalent and many other models found on my mini factory.
I like the fact that OPR is developing its own identity, both visually and in themes of lore. In fact my two favorite OPR factions are Jackals and Saurian Starhost, one of which covers a GW archetype without aping it, the other being a fantasy archetype transported to scifi with a distinct and striking visual style.
However, to me part of the fun of OPR is building armies from my own collection of STLs and miniatures, like my Robot Legions that use a mix of Anvil Industries and Adamant Arsenal. It would be sad if OPR lost that "open canvas" attitude that allows players to just grab whatever miniatures have and get them to the table.
Look forward to your own take on GD armies and lore.
Would you consider doing Fantasy lore videos?
Yep. Not sure if I want to do all of GF and then all of AoF, or bounce back and forth. The new book coming out is just GF though, so I may work on that for a time. I'd hate to do a bunch of AoF videos and then have a world book invalidate it all.
Man once OPR gets those models out of printers and into stores I would be all over them. They look magnitudeS better than GW for a fraction of the price. We play with TOY SOLIDERS dont vomit detail all over them!
Indeed. You can buy them from Only-Games, but maybe one day they'll be sold in LGS.
I enjoyed your painting spotlight and I agree that simple paint jobs look great. I'm getting ready to paint my dwarves and I wondered, what gray/blue did you use on your dwarven army?
The blue was MacCragg (sp) blue, then nightshade in the recesses, then calgar as the edge highlight.
@@Good.Nuff.Gaming Thanks!
I'm hoping one page rules takes off and you seem to be getting in to this niche early, nice job but also a better mic would go a long way in making your videos sound nicer.
Thanks for the advice. I tried using the lapel mic I use for batreps but that didn't work out so well. I'm still looking.
The background lore book is very interesting. ePub only? Or hardcopy too?
Think hardcopy is still TBD for release day but opa is definitely keen for it at some point
If they do it like their other books it will be ePub through them and Hardcover through DriveThruRPG.
it is good enough
I see what you did there.
And I REALLY hate those high elf fleet vehicles ☹️ look like transit vans!!
I bounce back and forth. I like the infantry, and I bounce back and forth on the APC. Sometimes it look futuristic, other times is looks like a slice of pie.
is anyone able to tell me how this "lore building" stuff is done in wargaming ?
The company that owns the copyright gets to write stories and declare what's canon. OPR is unique in that they have frequent "Writer's Jams" where fans can write stories that will actually be published by OPR, and some are even turned into missions in the game.
I think the collaboration news on TF and AV is huge! OPR needs to show that it’s more than just a cheap knockoff of Warhammer.
OPR is cool but tbh if their factions remain Warhammer in all but name, their own lore does not matter.
Yep. That's why I hope with the new world book and models they can start pulling away and striking out on their own.
You know what bothers me about one page rules a lot. It's their store on minifactory. They have so many bundles of minatures but they all seem haphazerdly put together. What I would need as a first time ever wargame player is something simple.
Human starter army:, lizard starting army, mummy starter army, etc... with just enough minatures to get started. Their collections now have so many minatures I don't know what to get for a first game. Then you have humans bundle 1 to 3, but you only have maybe 2 bundles for mummies. Which is ok they probably didn't have time for the mummies to finish a third bundle. However their monthly patreon isn't finishing mummies 3 but working on a different kind of set. Their work is so asynchronous, my little autistic brain goes TILT. I really wish they would organise everything better and first finish one product fe: age of fantasy, before starting and stopping in the middle with grimdark. I believe their only finished product with all factions having the base models to print, is FTL(Warfleets now ?) and I'm pretty sure hardly anyone plays that :(
That's an interesting point. They have "Starter Packs that are supposed to provide small forces from two armies to give you something to work with. I wonder if the other line of thinking is that the bundles are the same cost as a single box from someone like GW, so you can get it all and then decide what to print from there.
I'd recommend playing around on the Army Forge and see if you can design your army there first, then you'll have an idea of what specific models to get.
Hmmm, I'll give it a whirl. See what it's like, but I think I'll stick to wh40k lore.
Best part is you can do just that. Play OPR games in the 40k world.
P r o m o s m 🙋
I promise, I'm not. I'm just hoping the game takes off and doing what I can to help it.
This feels like a OPR 'Warhammer Community' post. Was this sponsored? I don't mean that negatively, it just feels overly positive. I really like OPR, and want it to grow, but this feels different to your other videos.
Nope, not sponsored (I wish). I like it when I can watch a video that saves time from having to read several articles or watch several other videos.
@Good.Nuff.Gaming thank you for presenting information and not being sponsored. I'm tired of watching commercials and I appreciate the summary and interest you present.
GDF is a decent game, but let's not pretend it's an original setting that needs its own lore
It's certainly not original, but unless you're Tolkien, Lewis, or Asimov, everyone is borrowing from everyone. I'm curious to see if OPR can make something unique enough to be their own, but familiar enough to make me care about it.
I don't know about this OPR world book. It sounds like OPR is starting to take themselves a bit too "Sirius"ly. I see OPR's role as providing player friendly rules. The lore is largely irrelevant.
I see what you did there. Prime Dad-joke if I ever saw one. I can see the lore book causing a small rift among players who want a more fleshed out world vs. those who just want an accessible ruleset.
