I've been trying the Vermilingua and it seems terrible. I got into grade 7 and it feels ineffective against 5 star monsters that are supposed to be weak to paralysis. I'm going to get it to 7.5 and then start working on the Barroth Swaxe to test them side by side. I really hope it is a bug.
@@ShadowJak without status sneak and attacking from behind it is very lacking, however if you have a good build you can really fight equal class monsters. but imo parabuilds are really made for group hunts
So I built a trex sa and at base build it completely obliterated a grade up monster and that was without a real set. So now I have my trex sa at g8lv4 and proper set with critical ferocity lv4 partbreaker lv3 burst lv3 focus lv2 artful dodger lv1 lock on lv1 and few extra irrelevant lv1 skills but it's doing really good and biggest benefit being you can hunt anything with it so easy way to enjoy the sa weapon anytime. I've invested heavily in my elemental sets including full drifting so it gets boring with how powerful they are and thought it'd be fun build to just enjoy and get my gold weapon badge for sa. I'm hr288 and main bow, ls, and cb (depending on which of each is best weapon available on current meta monsters).
I forgot to mention I haven't bothered with lock on since a year ago now because limits build potential and I actually really enjoy using the gyro mode it's too much fun to go back to lock on.

I see the math on paper but in gameplay it’s not the same… Rajang SwAxe 6.5 build: Thunder 4 Crit Eye 2 Concentration 1 Crit Element 1 Crit Ferocity 1 Regular hits = 500-1000 dmg with “black flash” crits of 1100 dmg Zinogre SwAxe 6.5 Build: Crit Eye 4 Latent Power 2 Crit Element 2 Regular hits = 300-700 with element crits doing 6 more dmg than a regular hit 😕 My Rajang SwAxe was landing those “black flash” crits often enough to look powerful but just having the Thunder 4 helped boost the damage higher than the Zino SwAxe. The elemental crits for the Zino SwAxe weren’t nearly as huge either. Both SwAxe are 6.5. Am I missing something?
@Cloudfencer for the crit elem build, add one more point in crit elem and add crit boost or morph boost depending on your playstyle. For the rajang build, i would remove crit eye to add more chance for crit ferocity to proc

You cannot have any positive crit abilites if you want to use Crit Ferocity for Rajang since they would have literally no effect, you're better off slotting in something like Burst since its Power Phials scale off attack, also at that grade getting Thunder 5 is more important than anything else, that should be the priority

Critical Element 3 only starts eclipsing Element Attack 5 at G10.2 or so for most weapons, and only if the affinity (including WEX) is over 50% or so. I've been getting excellent results from Element Attack 5 + Critical Element 1 for weapons below that threshold. Even though the +500 element from Element Attack 5 is added _after_ the weapon's element is multiplied by Critical Element, it's still about +33% more element at that level. In fact, now that we can save Driftmelds between loadouts, it is now perfectly reasonable (if money and/or time-consuming) to have one "one-size fits all" set with Element Attack melds that are swapped between loadouts. For those who got the Carnival chest and managed to make all of the Critical Element armor pieces, you can make the following build for almost any element of Switch Axe: Silver Rathalos head Carnival chest Volvidon arms Pink Rathian waist Silver Rathalos legs Then, slap on one Critical Eye meld and four of each Element Attack meld on the piece without Critical Eye. This will net you Lock-On, Critical Element 3, Critical Eye 5, Weakness Exploit 1 and Element Attack 4. If you missed out on the Carnival chest but have the parts for a G8 Silver Rathalos armor piece, I'd go with the following: Kulu-Ya-Ku head Odogaron chest Volvidon arms Pink Rathian waist Silver Rathalos legs Then, give every piece one of every Element Attack meld. Been really enjoying poison swaxe, having poison exploit is an advanced form of foray from sunbreak which is super nice! And with gold rath having good natural Affinity I use crit boost and WEX lvl1 with partbreaker and resentment lvl3 and to add an evasive damage if i dont want to tank a hit with firm foothold i have aggressive dodger. Im still building my gold swaxe to get the rest of exploit and its just been very solid!

Hey, how is the switchaxe as a main weapon? I am.debating between the switchaxe and the cb to invest in. I am a casual player with my weapons around g5/g6 and need to decide. I don't play enough to farm much materials for multiple sets and weapons so would prefer versatility
CB is better in term of defense, the shield helps a lot. Swaxe is better DPS wise if you play a lot in sword mode. But if you want one weapon to push it to end game, girros gunlance is very good. It is recommended by reddit people a lot.
Very disappointed that for a lot of these they went with the world designs. OG rathalos & zinogre SA designs were miles better than these generic iron SAs. It's my favourite weapon in the series with my favourite being barioth's, which they didn't keep as element phial

Rajang HBG is a much better investment for your rajang materials. Especially for high difficulty elder dragons like Kusha and Nergigante

@liamking8983 true. I was very disappointed with world designs as well. Rise brought back the unique and creative designs for each weapon.
