    Oh gosh,now,because of my tiny rug collection,I need to write a tiny Selena story!
    So,one day,lovely Selena was at an estate sale,and came across the most delightful selection of teeny tiny dollhouse rugs!
    Some of them were so impeccable,so perfect,that a strange giggle-inspiring sensation overcame her!
    As she held one of the more perfect little rugs,she began to shrink down in size.
    The rug,it became larger and larger on her hands,and she couldn’t help but giggle at this miniaturization that was occurring!
    Finally,with a tiny giggle and shiver,she settled down to a size of 6 inches tall!
    With her characteristic laugh,Tiny Selena rolled around on her luxurious tiny carpets,happy to make such a find!

    So pretty, I would wrap the wreath with vintage lace or lace fabric and use florist pins to pin onto the wreath so you don't have to glue them or cut up the flowers. This is what I do so I don't damage a true vintage item. I would definitely display your pretty millinery flowers. Love vintage wall paper, your antique rugs, the silk rug is my favorite!

    Hold smashed silk flowers over a steam kettle and they will open up to their original shape. Memory set in when they were made with hot presses or irons.. very nice collection

    You could use a wire floral pick. The wire winds around the stem of the flower & has a wooden pick in the end that you can cut to fit your form.

    • @kathybruce100
      @kathybruce100 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Absolutely agree about wiring. The flowers can be used again in a shadowbox frame. They're gorgeous!

    How about pinning your flowers into the foam instead of gluing? They make boutennier pins in ever color and you could pin it in horizonally so it doesn't slide right back out. Wish my son could see these rugs. They're leaving Portland and moving to a victorian home in Des Moines that needs rugs on their hardwoods!! Beautiful!

      There are actual floral pins which could likely be ordered from Amazon or any floral supply store like Michaels. I usually wrap the wreath form with satin ribbon. Just makes it more special.

    • @kaynothem5445
      @kaynothem5445 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think I would also wrap and pin a beautiful ribbon (velvet type) around the foam first. Enjoy , it’s going to be so beautiful

    Straight pins sink really easily into those foam wreaths. Wrap the wreath in satin ribbon first. Use a couple of pins to fasten the ribbon on the back and then start wrapping it around the wreath. Fasten the end of the wrapped ribbon with a couple more pins. The ribbon will give the finished wreath a really professional polish and will make any gaps between the flowers look nice. Attach the flowers with pins. It will be beautiful.

    Every room in my house has an "Asian hand knotted rug" and I have a 36 inch round rug in front of my kitchen sink...I have a small hand knotted Asian/Oriental Rug in front of the sink in all of my bathrooms....I have many and decided to ENJOY them where they make me happy and when they are soiled, I get rug cleaner and do the smaller ones myself and use, use, use them. Just sharing.

    I think the fringed throw in the dining room is a piano scarf. They usually have long lovely fringe. Love your rugs, the silk one is such a great find. The small rug could go in your kitchen in front of the worktable. Love your enthusiasm for decorating, finding joy in what you do; love your mom (funny and a great friend), and Hot Hubby. Hey Selena, just a suggestion that worked for me, instead of hot gluing the beautiful vintage flowers onto the styrofoam ring you could use floral wire and attach some wire to the individual flowers then push the wire ends of each flower into the ring. No gluing needed and you could remove the flowers and change them with different flowers as desired or seasonally. Love your channel! 🌺

    The rugs are unbelievable! While you have the opportunity make sure that you have all you want. Those old rugs especially silk don't come around often for a decent price. I wondered what kind of pattern (origin) is the first rug. Of course it was in the middle! I thought your Mom should have gone to the storage too. Like you when she sees something that she wants, she makes it happen! The bird artwork and wall paper are beautiful finds. The colors are beautiful in your entire house! Always love your energy, your cute ways and grand style! Love your hair cut too! Thanks for this video!! The pretty, vintage flowers in velvet in silk would make lovely candle wreaths or garland for the mantle. Tie unexpected colors. You know what to do, Selena!!

    Very feminin and soft on the eye and feel

    I've made several vintage wreaths from vintage ornaments to vintage flowers. The ones on the foam wreath I first wrapped with vintage velvet ribbon. If you don't want to glue the flowers in place on the wreath, you can use florist pins to hold in place. They are shaped like a 3-sided rectangle, with a dip in the short end to hold flowers in place. I've used them when making boxwood wreaths. Good luck!

    Use a high gauge (thinner) floral wire and floral tape, the green kind, pull it to release the sticky.... and wire the flowers on, for the ones with no stems, carefully wrap the wire through the bloom and back out, the wire will also allow you to position the flowers in a spray effect. No real value to the flowers but they can be designed beautifully. I have been a florist for more than 30 years and work with them often, now they do seem to be coming back into trend for weddings, especially boutonnieres and corsages.

    So many wonderful things!! First, the pink loafers in the opening had me squealing. The wreaths, I agree with the others who said pins or wire, so you can re-use and re-arrange at will. You might not want them outside because the critters might chomp on the natural fibers as well as the sun causing fade...unless you like that look of evolving decay, which is lovely as well. Rather than using the wallpaper for single use wrapping paper, maybe take a note from t.v and movies: notice how they just lift the top off their gifts? Decoupage the paper onto boxes and tops (various sizes). That way you can save them and use them later when you go back to that color scheme. 😉

    You the "Bomb" Selena...your hair looks amazing! And those rugs are something else... perfect for your home. I especially like the silk one with the beautiful flower design! Many years ago we went to England to visit my mother-in-law's cousin. They had one of those cottages with the thatched roof in the gorgeous lush countryside...it was like a fairytale for sure. 😍

    Cover the plant jars with plastic wrap to create a mini green house (keeps soil moist) effect, when seeds sprout discard plastic wrap. Did your neighbor tell you where the rugs were made? The dining room one looks Persian (Tabriz) wool and cotton. But I am not sure. Never use the rug setting on your vacuum cleaner! Tuck the fringe under the rug if you can, gets dirty fast and very hard to clean.

    If you steam the flowers over a kettle, they will go back to their original shape 😀

    The largest rug is HAND KNOTTED !!!!!!! More valuable than "machine made" - I believe the Green rug is hand knotted...the silk is beautiful, but looked "machine looped"..which doesn't matter, of course...silk is expensive hand or machine knotted...so great for you !
