I once found 382.00 in a pair of pants pocket. I worked as a Bank teller ; after a while I was able to tell money 💵 just by touch !!! I was so excited, I looked around to see if it was some kind of prankster setting people up ,but there was NO ONE around. The store was basically empty. I didn't waste it ,used it for bills, food and gas .
The little Lane cedar chest was a promotion given to female high school graduates from the local furniture company. Promoting purchase of your "Hope Chest." Came with a key. I received mine in 1976.
I got one too. The funny thing is, for many years I thought that little box WAS a hope chest. I put extra special tiny things in it. I didn't know what a hope chest really was, lol.
I got mine in 1967 from a store in Houston, Texas. So, you can do the math and see how old I am! I have little things in it that are special to me and remind me of the fun dates with my boyfriend, my now-husband of 53 years!
A guy from Tennessee found a West Point jacket in the Asheville North Carolina Goodwill several years ago. He paid 58 cents for it. It was a jacket owned by Vince Lombardi and valued at $15k.
I found a $100 banknote, (Australian) in a old record, about 27 years ago. They were just released about then. The pewter frame would be nice as a light switch cover too.😉🤗🇦🇺🏖
I have always appreciated that you do not film other people. So many other TH-camrs film people in the stores and It has always bothered me, people have a right to not be filmed without their consent. Thank you for being so respectful.
You could also find a decorative box that is missing its lid and use the pewter frame as the top to make a fun kleenex box cover. Or make a box to fit.
Nice haul,Laura. Your vignettes are so pleasing to the eye. At 73 , I have to contain my thrifting. So much stuff...but if it tugs at my heart, I buy it. I learn so much from you. Thanks for taking us along.🤗
I just like watching because you have such a lovely way about you & it makes my day better. Well, that and I like the whole idea of resource/source reduction. Anytime you can buy something that's already been out there; you do the World a favor! Thank you Laura!
So I'm watching you (with my earbuds in) pick up the vase, and I'm like (outloud) "That is a fabulous vase," you put it in the cart and I'm like (outloud) "Yes! We're taking it home!" My son looks at me and was like "are we going somewhere and what are we bringing home?" I was like, "oh, yah, I'm not actually there am I". Lol
I found $200 in a DVD case at the bins. $5 inside of a pair of jeans. Four $2 bills inside of a wedding card from the 90s that was never opened, etc... A friend of mine found $803 at the bins in an old book that had been hollowed out for a hiding place. And I seen a guy at the bins find $2000 folded up inside of a hat. But I go to the bins 3 days a week so you are bound to find money eventually.
The handmade red plaid coat is amazing and the suede elbows are patches, not pads. Became popular because they protected fine wool sweaters elbows, which are quick to wear out or develop holes with lots of wear. They became sexy I guess when college professors began to sport them. 🙂
Hi Laura beautiful set of lamps. I would remove the piece on the one. Love the bird house. That wooden carved lamp shown in your displays is gorgeous. Lovely plaid jacket.
I don't know if you know the history of that Lane cedar box you looked at in the ReTails Store. In the 60s and 70s, and maybe even longer, the Lane company provided all the senior girls in high school with these boxes through the local furniture store. It was an incentive to remind the girls, they should be buying a Lane Hope Chest for their future marriage! LOL! Still have mine from suburban Chicago, oh, and I married my high school sweetheart 44 years ago!
I have a Lane Cedar chest just like the one you saw. I got it from my BIL when he worked at McMahan's furniture store in CA in the 60's. I was surprised at the $1.99 price tag
Great finds! My daughter found five hundred dollar’s in a pocket of a jacket. But it was from a jacket her employer had given her about a year past so she gave it back to her.
I went to an auction with my dad when I was little. He bought a random box of junk, emptied it into the trunk and then threw the box to a pile of other boxes for people to use. He heard a rattle when he threw it. He almost ignored it...but he went to check it out and it was a Black Hills Gold ring! I still have it. :)
Absolutely love watching your videos! BTW… Pewter education 101: pewter pre-1974 contained lead which caused its decrease in popularity for health reasons. Due to new laws, lead use was abolished, and the newer pewter pieces can’t contain lead. Keep up the good work… you are spectacular!
Hi Laura! Speaking of finding $ in items @ Goodwill one time while checking out toddlers pants I found a $20 bill in the pocket! It almost paid for my whole haul! What a surprise 😊Thanks for mentioning that! Love your videos & style suggestions!😊💜 Christina 🍋
OMG, I too love tweed old man jackets that have that comfy lived in feel. They look great with a frilly top and possibly jeans with a couple of well placed holes.
I just love your attitude. you are truly happy for other people doing well and not jealous or envious of other's success. a rare thing to find in this day and age lol. sadly , but true! may you and your business be blessed!
The Goodwill Stores and Thrift stores in your area are so nice! The ones here in FL, not so much. You videos are my absolute favorite re-seller videos because your style is identical to my own. Thank you for your videos. I look forward to them.
Same here near me outside Philadelphia with the Goodwills and thrift stores. There's a big thrift store right near my house that has a huge clothing and furniture selection but not great housewares, etc. I did find a NWOT wool Michael Kors hooded toggle coat for $48. I know they retail for at least $300 or more. Lucky me, perfect fit!!
Yes, I have. Found ¥70,000 (about $700) in a cabinet back when thrifting wasn’t that big in the Philippines yet. It was bonkers, I couldn’t believe it!
What a great idea to add the little wooden 🐦 bird to a clock... for sure... time flys...lol especially when im watching your videos! Thanks again Laura
Wonderful findsl!!! Thank you for what you do! I have found $$ in items several times. A crisp $100 bill folded small in a Fossil wallet, a stack of bills in an obscure pocket of a purse, and once in an eye glass case...are the one's I can remember. The surprise was exciting every time!! I think people do it on purpose just to give an extra blessing! : )
We still do not have the same kind of goodwill or thrift store you go to.I still enjoy watching your videos. Your sister is so lucky to have you doing over her bedroom
I wondered if GW staged for you because they look AMAZING!!! I never find things at ours like you do and it always looks topsy turvy. Love your sweet spirit and love watching your videos!
I’m a new subscriber and I love your you tube channel. The Retails Thrift Store is such a good cause because the profits go to help animals. I really liked all the items you bought there especially the blue pottery and the lamps and the carved wood bird and the bird house.
@@Sanity_Faire could be. When my son first moved to Portland prepandemic, he went to a pub crawl for the Humane Society & sent me several pictures of pets & owners dressed up!
I found a $20, $10, and once I was at the bins and found a pocketful of gold and diamond rings in a back pants pocket! I heard the little noise when I picked up the pants and when I reached my hand in and pulled out the pile of gold I was floored!
Hi, Laura. Do you watch The Niche Lady channel? In her last video she found a Curtis Jere wall sculpture at Goodwill for $25.00. It's valued at about $1,000.00!!!
I would love to be able to hit second-hand stores each week, and resell my finds. You get shopping enjoyment, and perhaps cool finds to sell for profit; win, win. What could be better?! 😊
You can set out plastic owls that have the head that moves and it will keep woodpeckers and other birds off of your wooden columns. We have stucco columns on our back veranda and birds "drilled' holes and hatched babies. We had a black snake trying to get to them. UGH! The owls do the job!! Laura, I love the videos and the trove of information and tips you share! Thank you for all the fun you create!
I live between Washington and Arizona during the year. Last fall, I hit 12 of your local stores on my way south. You have the best pottery in Oregon. Scottsdale has some incredible thrift/consignment/antique shops., you should make it down sometime.
I haven't lived in Eugene for 5 years, but my favorite junk place (at least for furniture) was the St. Vincent warehouse, which was really close to the Goodwill. I called it The Room of Requirement because I always found what I needed there.
Hi Laura, you such an inspiration, that im thinking of starting my own online shop. I just love watching you shop you have my dream job travelling and checking out all the markets all over the world. One day soon i hope to join you on an adventure. I wantes to go to Japan with you but it was already booked up. I will let you know when my online shop is open. Much love from the Netherlands. Lolly
Frame 12:30 This lamp made me think of Jim Shore for some reason. lol Question, How do you tell the difference between Pewter ( if its not marked ) an some of the other pot metals ? I know Aluminum is more shiny. Enjoy watching you shop & seeing how you decorate with the items.

She was sitting in the car with a stunned look on her face, she looked so taken aback I asked if she was feeling okay. Oh, no. She'd just discovered in one of the backpack's pockets, THREE ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR BILLS AND A CANADIAN TEN!!! That's what I get for never buying purses... ha
One time at Salvation Army store all the coats were on sale $5, I find 2 coats that I like, I find $5 in one coat's pocket.....Kismet! I bought both of them 😁
The hoooooorse! I went wild when I saw it. Thanks for showing us how to shop in thrifting store. Very nice of you to respect the other costumers in the stores you visit, it says a lot about you!

Yep I received one in 1974. Dunno what ever happened to it though. Almost 50 years ago lol
I received mine in 1974!
I got mine in 1967 from a store in Houston, Texas. So, you can do the math and see how old I am! I have little things in it that are special to me and remind me of the fun dates with my boyfriend, my now-husband of 53 years!
I was going to write the same post. Got mine in 1971!
Gotta respect your concern for other people's privacy. I think that is very admirable.
Thank you! Too many of us don’t consider others enough 😏
A guy from Tennessee found a West Point jacket in the Asheville North Carolina Goodwill several years ago. He paid 58 cents for it. It was a jacket owned by Vince Lombardi and valued at $15k.
Woah! That's wild!
WOW. !!!!!
Wow!
My sister in law found diamonds in a bag full of costume jewelry. 💎 💎 💎😲
Found a ten dollar Starbucks card in a small red pouch. Sold the pouch and enjoyed two chai lattes.
I found a $100 banknote, (Australian) in a old record, about 27 years ago. They were just released about then.
The pewter frame would be nice as a light switch cover too.😉🤗🇦🇺🏖
I found 400 dollars in an envelope inside a bag I bought. I was shocked and happy.
Nice! 💴
I would see if I could find owner -if not then keep.
It seems like it would be nearly impossible to find the owner, unless you made the purchase at a garage sale…
I also thought it would make a cute perfume bottle tray if you added a mirror to it.
I found a bunch of crisp $2 bills in a vintage purse at the thrift about a decade ago. Super lucky find!
Nice haul,Laura. Your vignettes are so pleasing to the eye. At 73 , I have to contain my thrifting. So much stuff...but if it tugs at my heart, I buy it. I learn so much from you. Thanks for taking us along.🤗

Yes! And her ability to smile so much is such a gift. Just draws people to a person.
Wonderful finds as always. I’ve been patiently waiting for your sister’s bedroom makeover so I’m so excited it’s coming soon!❤
It took me way longer to find all the stuff than I planned 😂🙈
THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!! 😆
That nautical themed, black topped, teal colored with nautilus shells stenciled, in white we bought at Vancouver Retails.
I’m on my way through vancouver in two days driving through from SoCal. Stopping where Laura tells me!!
So I'm watching you (with my earbuds in) pick up the vase, and I'm like (outloud) "That is a fabulous vase," you put it in the cart and I'm like (outloud) "Yes! We're taking it home!" 😂🙌 I love this! You’re shopping virtually with me! ❤️
The first time I ever went thrifting, back in 1984, I found $45 in a pants pocket. And my finds that day rang up at $43!
The lamps look liked the one on the right is bigger
My daughter bought a PC game for 10p (yes we live in England!) and hidden under the disc was 450 Euros - holiday spending money taken care of!
Yes, I still have my little Lane box that I got at graduation in 1962! So, OMG it's vintage now 😅.
MY HUSBAND BOUGHT A JACKET IN THE POCKET WERE 40.00 DOLLARS. I FOUND 8.00 IN A PURSE LOVE YOUR FINDS FOR TODAY🥰🦋🦋🦋🌻🌻🌻🐝

I did hear about a person who bought an old teddy bear at the Goodwill and discovered that someone had hidden a bunch of cash in it!
Wild!! 🐻
I love when pottery has a “grungy” looking bottom; it usually means it’s vintage.
I have a Lane Cedar chest just like the one you saw. I got it from my BIL when he worked at McMahan's furniture store in CA in the 60's. I was surprised at the $1.99 price tag
OMG that beautifull peacock rocking chair at 10.30 😍 absolutly love it.
Great finds! My daughter found five hundred dollar’s in a pocket of a jacket. But it was from a jacket her employer had given her about a year past so she gave it back to her.
I found a diamond tennis bracelet in a handbag zipper pocket years ago .

He heard a rattle when he threw it. He almost ignored it...but he went to check it out and it was a Black Hills Gold ring! I still have it. :)
When you walked out empty handed, first thought was the two subscribers grabbed the good stuff already. ;)
Absolutely love watching your videos! BTW… Pewter education 101: pewter pre-1974 contained lead which caused its decrease in popularity for health reasons. Due to new laws, lead use was abolished, and the newer pewter pieces can’t contain lead.

Glad they fixed that issue 😬
Your hair looks GREAT swept to the side! Very classy! Love your channel! It reminds me of growing up. I am 63 yrs old.

I am in Orlando and have found amazing things in GW. Although their prices have gotten totally out of control.
I would fix the missing lamp piece with a wooden dowel and bead and paint them black. easy fix. Nancy

My subtitles changed her word “logger” to LAGER and I thought for a minute Oregon had beer drinking coats 😅

I bought a rain slicker at a rummage sale one time for $2 and then found a $5 bill in the pocket. What a deal.
Love your earrings and all of your Retails treasures.
Thank you so much!
The Owl! Sooo good!
Plant/photo stands are at $tree. I have quite a few. Great lamp & green vase. Pewter & wood. Good eye Laura.

Tq Laura for showing us how to pick up beautiful pcs
And the thrill of seeing the price of 1.99!
The excitement never stops🫠
You could add the carved bird to a drawer as an escutcheon for a knob.
Ty 4 supporting the animals!!! Other than vintage animals are my favorite things on earth!! Yes found change once, about 75 cents.
Laurie, I always look forward to your videos ❤

Amazing finds also you have a voice that is so easy to listen to. Your Irish fan.
Teak is also my favored wood!

I have wayyy too many vintage coats & jackets. I love converting the zipper pulls to those large rings…I just love the retro feel. And sometimes I’ll add a charm of some sort to it. Recently, I added a gold metal feather & strangers were asking me about. 😊
I have that same owl trivet! I keep it on a walnut MCM desk for food/drink. It adds texture, but blends in with the desktop, so it doesn’t look cluttered.
The owl trivet looks like Dobie with wings... Minus the sock... Now he's a free elf
😂🙌
Last night I was at Goodwill and saw two jackets hanging right next to each other, possibly donated by the same person, and both of them had the elbow patches. I was so excited when I saw them! Unfortunately, they were not my size, but seeing them make me very happy! ❤
Delightful video. I’m in the middle of a cross country move, so no shopping for me right now. I can get my thrifting fix through you! Thanks.

Whoa!!! 💰
Can’t believe someone else hadn’t checked those pockets before she bought it! But good for here she just recovered the cost of a lot of purses. 🥰
Thank u for ur 🎥
I hit a couple Goodwills today too!
Find anything good? 😁
You are so talented
Those lamps use halogen bulbs which get really hot so you really do need the handle to use them safely! My MIL had one 😬
Love those wooden Animals you put in your wall gallery it makes it even more inspirationing to look at,Always love your style Laura 👌 😎
One time at Salvation Army store all the coats were on sale $5, I find 2 coats that I like, I find $5 in one coat's pocket.....Kismet!
