The teaching on dealing with the persistent noise was excellent.
Without realizing it, I applied it to a situation with a person who was in my personal space, yelling, cursing, pointing, and threatening me.
The person was a police officer. I will spare you the details, but I applied that teaching and, after awhile, it was as though what he was saying was passing right through me. When he saw that he could not provoke me to respond or engage (that's what he wanted😉), he gave up and walked away.
His supervisors were contacted by my supervisor and the officer was reprimanded and ordered to never visit our organization again, and he didn't for the remainder of the time that I worked there.
    The power of practice!🙏

Thank you all for taking the time and energy to make these videos. I fel the same principles you teach could also be applied to gain restful sleep. For many years I was an insomniac and apart from overthinking, noise would also distract me from settling down. I tried every strategy known to man and I even went to my doctor and nothing helped until one day, I decided to give myself a good talking to and I literally told myself to stop being so stupid and just fall sleep and from that day on as soon as my head touches my pillow, I'm away and people who have witnessed me do this have found this incredulous. I currently live near a busy and noisy town centre and so far nothing has disturbed my peace, whereas noise levels and sleep depravation are common complaints amongst my neighbours. In addition to this, I never use an alarm clock and just prior to falling asleep I set my own internal clock which could be at some random time such as 03:37 and I will wake up at exactly the time I set. I am in no way suggesting that others use negative self-talk in such instances and instead I needed to be strict with myself because trying to survive on one or two hours sleep most definitely was proving unhealthy for me, whereas nowerdays, I wake up in peace and gratitude.
    Namaste.

I use these ideas to help me : as said in video, to become aware of the sound and then let it fade away as a normal thing, don't take the sound and attach a harmonic meaning to it (don't hear a cutting or hammering sound and develop cutting or hammering meaning in mind), don't fight it and have anger toward it, keep attention within limits and boundaries that are relevant and quiet, when hearing a repeating sound pattern like hammering - recognize the whole sound pattern as a single thing instead of many things.

this is valuable as my ears have become sensitive and I also have other mental issues. When a disturbing sound happens, I try to recognize it is sound, and separate from my inner self, and direct my attention and mindfulness to what I am doing, and to my near space. Sometimes the attention is drawn toward the disturbing sound, and I have to have some buffer energy or space between my inner self and the sound itself. And I recognize that the disturbance doesnt have to have meaning in me. With some familiarity of the sound it becomes easier. But when my head doesnt have enough energy, is tired or stressed, it is more difficult.

    • @psychhG

From personal experience, it applies to some extent. When I'm angry, I realize I'm angry and I acknowledge that I am angry, so I start being honest with my feelings. When that happens, my angry decreases or vanishes. Same as sadness and other negative feelings. You be with them and u can control them in a normal condition
