The five-question technique discussed in this video offers a refreshing way to deal with negativity. Asking 'What am I thinking right now?' and 'Is this thought helpful?' are such powerful tools for grounding oneself in the present moment. It’s not about denying or fighting against unwanted thoughts, but rather acknowledging them and choosing how to respond mindfully. This method aligns beautifully with the principles of mindfulness and self-compassion, promoting a healthier relationship with our own minds. It’s a practical guide for anyone looking to cultivate more peace and clarity in their life
Almost 10 minutes of watching this video saved me the trouble of several days of reading a book, not to mention the fact that this was easily understood and went straight home to my mind and heart. Thanks a lot! Namo Buddhaya 🙏🏼

I am trying. So hard. For 23 years now. And I'm 55. I still have not mastered control of my mind. It is too hard! I feel I can't do it! I've been following the Eighfold Path for so long..... I MUST keep trying. I'm so lost. My mom is so sick--this is the first time she's been in the hospital for 6 days now, and I am so scared. I'm legally blind, have never been able to drive, I live wayyy out in the country, 35 miles from the hospital. All of my friends and family died from Covid or Cancer. I'm so scared. Supreme Buddha says, “All conditioned things are impermanent' - when one sees this with wisdom, one turns away from suffering”. Supreme Buddha explains how there are five processes over which human beings have no control: 1. Growing old 2. Falling sick 3. Death and destruction 4. Decay of perishable things 5. The passing away of that which is liable to pass. Once you are born, you grow, develop, become an adult until at some point you will die. In the adult life your relationships will change, your ideas and opinions will certainly change, and so will you. Everyone grows older and everything changes. No one can escapes these five aspects of impermanence until one achieves Nibbana, Hence Keep reflecting on the impermenent nature of reality. So keep trying, your effort will help you in your next lives to come for sure. If it does not help in this life itself. May you be well and happy, all the best to you 🙏🙏🙏

The concept of mindfulness in Buddhism has taught me so much about staying present. It’s amazing how simply being aware can bring so much clarity and calm
You don't control your mind! You control your awareness. You are pure awareness moving about through many different areas within the mind. The beautiful thing is that you are capable of moving your awareness where you want it to be. And remember that where awareness goes, energy flows. So don't give negative areas in your mind too much energy, or they will grow.

This is simple as sweet honey! But when we think about the wholesome concept and core of this entire practise, I think it is going to much deeper context. Which eventually leads to understand our mind and control every bit of it
I did some real thinking, and i found that I am angry, confused, and upset at myself and my performance in my work be it my main job and my side job. I Feel that i can forgive myself now and move on to greater things.
Beneficial thoughts are very wholesome, but not immediately. If there is no quick result, many people don't have the patience to keep on thinking in a beneficial way. But after 15 years of 'training', I - as a lay person - can confirm it is really worth it! It's still improving day by day and I hope to be able to keep on improving for the rest of my life 🙂

Thank you, it was both pleasure to listen to you and get positive emotions from you and useful. But I would say, that together with "what am I doing? What am I thinking?", we also need to ask "Why?". As you've noticed, we can know that sugar is unhealthy, but eat too much sweets anyway. But why? Or why are we lazy? Because it is in us or because we are tired or we are doing not that we like or we are afraid of changing our life or work? And if it is a strong reason, it would be much more difficult to deal with negative thought without fighting with reasons. I was unhappy because I was often irritated. But when I learned that irritation is usually the result of tiredness (not only physical, but also mental, emotional - from people around, work, chores, place etc), I could deal with it. And I sew the connection. So every time I feel irritated, it is the time when I'm overwhelmed, to I understand, that I need to have rest and ask myself, what am I tired of? What do I need now? Sleep, go for a walk, watch film, go away, meet friends? I do it and I am not irritated any more, but filled with positive energy. ❤ Hope, it will help somebody.
Thankyou Monk for such wonderful video.. can you just help us to be more productive at work. How to know if we are doing our best. And maintain work life balance.. please help
1. What thoughts keep me away from my peace? 2. What am I thinking/doing right now? 3. Is it helpful for me? 4. What is the best thing to do? 5. What are the benefits?
Thank you for sharing such a meaningful and insightful video. The discussion about how our mind becomes a better servant when controlled, but a harsh master when left unchecked, is truly transformative. I particularly found the explanation at 03:13, where you emphasize the importance of asking "What am I thinking right now?" to bring the mind into the present moment, to be profoundly practical and relatable. It’s a powerful reminder of how often we live in the past or future and miss the beauty of the present. Looking forward to more wisdom-filled videos like this one!
We are our own worst enemies . We need to dawn the armour of correct knowledge and use the shield of mindfulness to protect us. Defeat our enemy with the sword of perseverance.
1. What are the thoughts that keep away from peace? For eg jeleous anger 2. What am I thinking right now? For eg about past or future ? come to present ! 3. Is this thought gonna help me? For eg does this anger help me , No! 4. What is the best thing to do instead of staying in this state? For eg if you're in anger , forgive people 5. What are the benifits I am going to get by cultivating these thoughts(best thing to do, above question )? Get answers and take action
1) what thoughts keep away my peace?
2)what am i thinking Right now?
3)is it helpful for me ?
4)what is the best thing to do ?
5)what are the Benefits?
Keep practicing daily till make your habit for life

Hope, it will help somebody.
