  • Just me driving, feeling out the car, thinking out loud. Its so fun feeling the differences in each car I drive. This cars better here or that car does that better. Figuring out what to adjust or change to make is better. Love this stuff

    Again sorry about the audio. As the weather is getting nicer and nicer I'll be driving a lot more. If I'm planning to do more video's like this I think I really need to get something for audio. The Go Pro isn't working

    I love my 15” TSW Hockenheims with 205/50 Dunlop Direzza. on my 16v 2.0 GTI. Added KW coil overs. Neuspeed Sway Bars. Front Stress bar. Owned the 92 since 99.

    I would run that 1.8t from around 3k to 5500k. Thats where the power band is if you have a k03s. You get a nice torque kick just around the 3k or just under. The gearing gets pretty aggressive with the smaller tires. I just swapped a awp in to mk1 cabby. Its pretty nuts with a tune on it

  • @lxapproduction
    @lxapproduction 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Wow, your exhaust note is sick! Mine sounds like a vacuum cleaner from the rear, but the turbo sounds make up for it.
    What power are you supposed to have? Is yours a K03?

    • @JakeRawSon
      @JakeRawSon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes compared to the vr6 the exhaust note sucks. But the turbo noises make up for it. Yep just k03 with a stage 2 tune. Not sure on the power. Need to do another boost leak test to make sure it's all sealed up. Really helped last time.

    The TDI 5th gear is what you want if you dont already have one installed. Makes the car way less buzzy on the highway and keeps the revs nice and low. You fuel economy will also increase with it. I've had one in multiple transmissions and it's one of the best bang for buck mods, especially in addition to a Quaife or Peloquin. Those Forge TIP's are some of the best quality silicone you can buy. The heat wrap looks good on the charge pipe. You should get a wink 4 or 5 panel ralleye mirror instead of the rearview. Was a great mod in a couple of mk2's I used to have since I was not running the headliner. One was my black 91 GLI with a boosted AAA 12v. I had one in my fully built all motor 16v B3 passat as well. Zero blind spots. They come with brackets that mount up nicely where the sun visors were. If you have a v1 or similar legit radar you can stick it to the top of the mirror like a tray and hardwire it to turn on with the ignition. This is how I had mine setup, with a 20% tinted strip on the top of the windshield. If I had pictures of it still, I'd show you. The Neo Gens are an okay slice of rubber. You should check out any of the Michelin pilot sports, falken Azenis, Toyo Proxes or if you're really series, I'd recommend the Toyo R888's. Awesome tire, super sticky, and should minimize the wheelspin you would normally see in your 1.8t swap. Most of them blow the tires off on anything around 20 psi. I know mine did LOL. You got a nice car dude, I enjoy your channel and I live on vicariously by your videos reminiscing about my nice collection of dubs that I know longer own... miss them for sure.

    • @JakeRawSon
      @JakeRawSon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      O man appreciate all your info. Yes I had a very hard time picking tires for this car. I almost went with a sticker tire but this car was and is going to be in any weather condition I want to drive in. I have pilot super sports on my MK5 and love them. But not so good in the rain lol.
      Sounds like you had a nice collection of cars, sucks you got rid of them.
      Glad you like the channel and thanks for the positivity.

    That header wrap is better at keeping heat in than out, I’d use heat reflective tape to keep iats down.

      ahhhh that makes sense. Thanks

    • @psavel274
      @psavel274 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree it isn't ideal. If you wanted the lowest IAT'S possible, youd run as much silicone as possible with the proper T-bolts. A phenolic spacer under the intake mani also does wonders at cutting down on the effects of heat soak.

    • @JakeRawSon
      @JakeRawSon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@psavel274 Ya I'll be taking off the header wrap and looking to order some heat shielding of some kind. Ive never heard of the intake spacer I'll look into it. Thanks for all the info

    Any plans on stress bars. I have a rear and a lower front (no upper front) and they made the car feel much more together. Like it let the suspension do what it supposed to without the chassis acting as a secondary spring. And theyre not too expensive either.

    Probably a little early to tell (as the 1.8t is still in shakedown mode) but which feels more planted and handles better in your opinion... your 24v Mk2 or the 1.8t Mk2? Does that extra 90-100lbs hanging over the front end really make that big of a difference?

    • @JakeRawSon
      @JakeRawSon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is the big question. And I plan on having both cars out there at the same time to address it. Nice weather is coming so I can do more driving

      @@JakeRawSon The 1.8t engine is roughly half the weight of a fully dressed VR6 24v so it should make a difference in handling. What would be interesting is to see what the weight bias on both of them is. Look forward to a head to head with both cars.

    What transmission codes do you have in this car vs. the VR6 car? Tire diameter the same?

    • @JakeRawSon
      @JakeRawSon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure on the codes. O2a g60 trans in the 1.8t with 16s. The Vr6 has O2a Vr6 with 15s

    • @rabbitgti652
      @rabbitgti652 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jake uses a ata code transmission with a 3.68 r&p. In the video he talks about using the vr6 r&p 3.38 when doing this swap it gives you taller gears. In my option that’s better for turbo cars staying in boost longer. It will also help with wheel spin unlike the 3.68. That r&p has shorter gears a lot more low end torque thus spinning the tires.
